MCs give similar vibes, especially with those dark attires and mysterious persona. Many unnecessary ecchi scenes. MC is anti-hero. MC slowly forms and expands his army. MC has a code name in both.

Let's be clear. Both anime is about laugh. Kanosuba maybe more in pure comedy, shadow has some battles but it is still hilarious not pretending for very annoyingly dramatic plot

Theme is reincarnation. MC is born with high specs and work towards a goal of destroying certain entities while recruiting a harem full of baddies to fight for his cause.

Overpowered Hero? Check Reincarnated to a rich family as an infant? Check Hero obsessed with not standing out? Check Hidden Identity as a hero in black cape/costume? Check Transitions to magic school in the capitol where he repeatedly encounters royalty? Check. Fake enemy conspiracy that just coincidentally happens to be real? Check Team of supporters that take him way too seriously and drag him into situations because of it? Check Jitsu wa Ore, Saikyou deshita? is pretty much Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! lite.

Both anime are parody (isekai/ superhero) Both anime have OP main characters Both protagonists are seen as weak by everyone (mob character, background character) Both protagonists are trying to have fun despite finding everything boring.

Very similar in nature, if you have strong feelings about one you will probably feel the same for the other

Main characters for both are kindred spirits and behave similarly to one another, wanting to rule from the shadows, to not stand out. The shows go in very different directions from the start, and aside from being isekai they aren't too similar. But there's enough coincidences going on that you will find yourself thinking about the other anime

The Eminence in Shadow is a recent isekai that surprised me. It definitely sits at the top of the genre with the other three mentioned.

- Both have protagonists that are ridiculously OP - Both have magic involved - Both protagonists share their magic with their followers, allowing them to earn respect and build empires. - Both have some comedic moments (at least I think so) Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken is a fantastic anime and yes, ML is overpowered, but he is pretty humble too. This show also has 2 seasons (but if you count season 2 part 2 as a third season, then 3) and a movie!

The best Isekai & Reincarnation anime, MC is strong but not naive, quick in making decisions, not long-winded, good at understanding situations, epic battles, good music and soundtrack.

Cid and Tatsuya are overpowered protagonists that hide their secret identities and talent while attending school. Outwardly acting like an average, low-achieving student as a cover for their other identities. In reality, Cid is a true edgelord, and this series lets the audience in on the joke to make the most of it. Tatsuya, on the other hand, is a stoic and analytical soldier able to use magic for mass killing and large-scale destruction. Consider this recommendation for more overpowered characters with magic powers.

Akame ga Kill! and The Eminence in Shadow are fantasy series featuring an evil cadre controlling society and a hidden organization fighting them. There is a debate among viewers about whether The Eminence in Shadow is a parody or deconstruction of power fantasies in isekai anime because its main character is an isekai edgelord whose actions accidentally create a hidden organization where he can realize his dream of being a hidden power for the greater good. His personality and actions are completely dedicated to this task, but he is also completely oblivious to his situation. Akame ga Kill! is one of the most popular fantasy  read more

In both anime the MCs are overpowered, but more importantly – extremely edgy.

Both "The Eminence in Shadow" and "Black Summoner" explore protagonists navigating through worlds filled with magic, monsters, and formidable adversaries. They share dark fantasy themes with intense action sequences and strategic planning. However, "The Eminence in Shadow" focuses on a protagonist who uses his cunning and manipulation to shape events from the shadows, employing a harem of skilled individuals. In contrast, "Black Summoner" follows a summoner who uses his magical abilities to overcome challenges and enemies directly, often involving intricate battles and exploration of the magical world's depths.

Both are about a guy who tries to act like a background character but in reality they are better than the elite.

Very similar feel with a group of girls undertaking covert missions and are led by a strong male.

Ninja Kamui and The Eminence in Shadow share similarities in their themes of clandestine operations and strategic maneuvering within their respective worlds. Both series feature protagonists who navigate through dangerous environments filled with secrets and adversaries. However, Ninja Kamui focuses on historical ninja warfare and cultural dynamics, showcasing stealthy tactics and traditional Japanese settings. In contrast, The Eminence in Shadow leans towards a fantasy realm where the protagonist manipulates events from behind the scenes, employing a harem of skilled individuals to achieve his goals within a magical context.

Ragna Crimson isn´t type of anime, which i usually watching, but i think, when you enjoy anime like this or other anime with OP mc, fantasy world, action, gore,...so i believe ,,Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni naritakute!" (or ,,Eminence in Shadow") will be anime for you!

the main caracter have a weird personnality he is also overpowered and IT's AN AMAZING ANIME

The Eminence in Shadow reminds me of The Devil Is A Part Timer a lot with the Isekai aspect and the fantasy aspects too. The dub is funny and 99 percent of all the jokes go well same with The Eminence in Shadow. I feel like both of these animes match like a puzzle piece in the best way possible.

Batman in another world. While "Ninja Batman" involves time travel and the Caped Crusader himself, "The Eminence in Shadow" features a protagonist who can fit the bill of a Batman fanboy being isekai'd to another world and lives out his Dark Knight fantasies.

These shows aren't just power fantasys they're overpowered fantasys. Both great shows for when you just wanna switch your brain off and watch a near untouchable MC just wreck S***

Scissor Seven and The Eminence in Shadow share similarities in blending dark action fantasy with light-hearted comedy. Both series feature protagonists with intense backgrounds and high stakes, navigating through worlds filled with danger and intrigue. In Scissor Seven, Seven (MC) is a skilled assassin with a mysterious past, assisted by quirky characters in his missions. Similarly, The Eminence in Shadow's protagonist manipulates events from the shadows within a fantasy realm, aided by a harem of skilled individuals. Both series balance their serious themes with moments of humor, creating dynamic and engaging narratives.

They say I will become the kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! Same way they say Mahou Shoujo Site on MSS, give it a watch 10/10 experience fr on god

Both series feature a secretive underground organization with the main character using a group of skilled fighters to complete dangerous missions. They share dark action fantasy themes and a substantial degree of gore and violence. "Darker than Black" has a more noir-like atmosphere and focuses on espionage and supernatural abilities, providing a different but equally gritty and unforgiving environment compared to "The Eminence in Shadow."

similar core concept of rebirth as overpowered protagonist

There's much thing similar in both anime like the main character, how they evolved in every problem, and how do they keep their big secret while playing a big role in the plot

Reincarnated main character just vibing and getting stronger, Knows its target audience and delivers on every important aspect for it

Both MCs are super chuuni (chuunibyou). They love being weird and extra for fun. Both MCs love having dark personas, which I always find hilarious. Both protagonists are seen as weak by everyone Both shows know what they're doing. Dont take it too seriously. Inou Battle is an anime by Studio Trigger. Its a slice-of-life harem, and its super underrated! Go check it out.

The Wisdom of the Shadows and the Wisdom of the Empire are basically the same thing but with a different premise.

Sometimes you discover an anime that is so ridiculous, so unaware (or self-aware) making it is so bad that it is entertaining. Cross Ange and The Eminence in Shadow give out this energy and people love them for it. These shows are perfect examples of everything that is wrong with anime, but can be recommended to people who can enjoy this experience.
report Recommended by lancelot200
Main characters have a similar design. Are seen as omniscient gods by their subordinates who misinterpret what they say as being wise and profound. The anime share similar humor.

Both have Over powered MCs hilariously failing to control some situations leading to laughter riots. The MC monologues give the same vibe in both the shows. The sense of humous is kind of same in both cases. Both the shows are high on entertainment value.

Similarties: -MC is overpowered -He wants to keep low profile -contains some comedy but to my taste it's better Diffrences: -its story is better built -Kagenou cares about money too

EIS and Ajin have similar dark and offensive themes with a main character that gains a crazy amount of strength although EIS is more of a power fantasy with no power creep. Ajin takes more of the struggle as a result of MC's sudden climb to power and that's what made me enjoy Ajin a lot more in comparison. If you don't like CGI anime then Ajin might not be for you.
report Recommended by ST63LTH
Both series revolve around the same style worlds that are slightly at the pretext of the industrial revolution but EIS is more of a fantastical representation compared to 91 days. 91 days is definitely more grounded and logical because the story isn't entirely just a power fantasy. So if you liked the premise and era of EIS but prefer more of a revenge mystery and no power fantasy tropes then 91 days is for you.

Baki and The Eminence in Shadow share thematic elements of intense competition and shifting alliances within their respective narratives. In Baki, characters often battle in underground arenas, showcasing their martial prowess and competing for dominance. Similarly, The Eminence in Shadow features strategic maneuvering and combat in a fantasy setting, where allies and adversaries alike play crucial roles in the protagonist's schemes. Both series explore the dynamic where enemies can become unexpected allies and vice versa, adding layers of complexity to their dark, action-oriented plots.

Both series have a academy style premise where the main character uses his harem to fight against bad guys. They are both dark action fantasy themed and feature varying degrees of gore and atmosphere. I personally think Eminence in Shadow has a more gritty and unforgiving atmosphere with its deeper levels of violence and ruthless appeal.

"The Eminence in Shadow" and "Paranoia Agent" both delve into psychological and societal themes but in vastly different ways. While "The Eminence in Shadow" focuses on a protagonist's strategic manipulation within a fantastical setting, using a harem to achieve his goals, "Paranoia Agent" explores the psychological breakdowns and societal issues through surreal and interconnected narratives. Both series share elements of suspense and complexity, but "Paranoia Agent" delves deeper into the human psyche and societal commentary, whereas "The Eminence in Shadow" emphasizes fantasy adventure and strategic plotting within its dark action fantasy framework.

Edgy black haired character gets transported into isekai world, his party is full of hot 10/10 waifus who will do everything for him, he has a cool black sword and is really fast. Thats almost all the similarities but kage no jitsu is actually self aware and its "MC never breaks character" gimmick is really fucking funny. I think that if you were into isekai around the 2010s, kage no jitsu will bring back this nostalgia to you, with a good production and hilarious MC.

The main characters are both op and both are fun to watch especially the fight scenes
report Recommended by ii1
Both series deal with gruny topics and in a dark but comedic manner. Banana fish is more of a slow burn action with gangs and armies fighting each other over a mysterious 'problem' and EIS is more of an op main character with the large army behind the MC. Both series will try and kick back with witty humor and I found it interesting especially with EIS
