Romeo x Juliet is a period piece like Emma, though it has a bit more action and has more fantasy anime qualities. If you liked the romanticism in Emma, then you will definitely enjoy this new spin on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

Roughly same time (Victorian Romance Emma takes place about 25 years before Kuroshitsuji), same attention to detail and I believe Kuroshitsuji references Victorian Romance Emma in a few things. Otherwise very different, but if you like the era, go for it!

Both female mains are maids struggling to find their place in the world

Both period anime. Both feature sweet main characters who are stepping into situations their society would consider taboo. Both feature a similar type of atmosphere and storytelling that is alike. If you liked one of these anime, I suggest you try the other out!

Both are set in the Victorian Era in Europe.

although not really similar in the plot, both titles revolve around romance between two people from entirely different worlds. both series have hardly any fanservice and a similar feel to them.

These two might not seem very similar at first glance, but both series have an adorable, very slow pure love story to them. If you enjoy the romance in Emma, I think you might like Kimi ni Todoke and vice versa.

This one is highly recommended if you are looking for something like Emma. As Emma is basically focused on social life of Victorian era, how it express the daily life of poors and aristocrats, what they feel, how much they are different and their interactions. And a wonderful & absolute realistic love story. Kaze to ki no uta is also focused on social life of Victorian France, mostly their school life in anime, school system, politics in school, feelings of students, teachers, how daily life goes, breaking of taboos, aristocrats lityle secret..... tho anime is just 1hours.... not much things are showned, manga is full  read more

Romances between different classes in historical settings
report Recommended by Manganatic
Both of these romance series go all-out in their costume design departments, with a ludicrously detailed late Victorian/ Edwardian era aesthetic. If you're a fan of the time period you need to check both of these shows out.

On the surface, these anime may seem like they have nothing to do with each other. One is an occult detective story about mysterious life forms, the other is a cross-class romance. However, these anime are very similar in terms of atmosphere. Thick, heavy atmosphere. Sometimes relaxing, sometimes mysterious, sometimes somber, but always strong atmosphere. Every episode has a weight to it, every character a long-staying presence. If you enjoyed one of these anime and are willing to watch another series based on similar tone and mood alone, give the other one a shot. Also, they could both be considered "historical" if only because both  read more

Rich boy fall in love with poor girl who happened to be a Maid
report Recommended by ZXEAN
>both stories happens in high society (like nobility, etc.) >both stories take place in past in quite similar times (castles, beautiful dresses, etiquette, etc.) >main characters are very quiet and calm persons, who will rather give up on relationship than ruin other persons life >the whole romance plot is very slow

slow burn romances with relatable characters and supporting cast

• Both are historical romantic drama anime. • In both the anime the female lead is an orphan and have a traumatic past. • In both the anime the male lead is from higher class and fall in love with a lower class individual. • Both the anime have lots of emotional moments and quite melodramatic from time to time.

Forbidden love between a rich and poor

Both involve a European setting with a poor girl falling in love with the Gentry/Prince and being loved in return and fighting in love with them.

The atmosphere and setting are both the same although with Kuroshitsuji it's focused around a butler and the supernatural were Emma it's around a maide and a love story.

Gorgeous Victorian costumes, romance and blond bishonen are in both series.Yousei has supernatural elements where as Emma does not, but both heroines do not immediately give themselves up to the guy and are refreshingly not whiny.

Both are lovely period pieces that center around a main couple as they struggle with their relationship and the crossing of social and gender boundaries. Saiunkoku Monogatari is a bit more upbeat and shoujo-ish, while Emma definitely takes a more realistic, subdued spin on things. Recommended for lovers of heartwarming romances (and period pieces, of course!).

They both share the theme of love that is forbidden or looked down upon.

Well... both series are similar becouse the ambient: The society doesnt accept that "rich" peaople and "poor" get in love, for example.

The story of Emma revolves around a kind hearted young lady whose in love with a rich young man. The similarity between Shoukoujo Sara and Emma is that the anime is both set in Victorian time or somethin like that =_=. Their are both drama and the main character had the same attitude;both nice and down to earth and lastly they both lost their parents...

While the setting of Emma is Victorian, and that of Honey and Clover is Modern, if you want the light and airy atmosphere, then this anime would be worth it. While both encompass the "slice of life" and romantic touch, where Emma has its serious tone, Honey and Clover is mixed with good comedy. Although, unlike the single focused character of Emma, Honey and Clover revolves around the lives of 5 friends in an Art College, but the focus for both are the same: their relationships, their characters, their troubles.

Eikoku Koi Monogatari Emma and Dantalian no Shoka have a very similar setting, especially to the point with that they have a very similar setting and atmosphere. The main difference with Eikoku Koi Monogatari Emma is that the focus of this series is more love oriented where Dantalian no Shoka is more focused on action and mystery.

Both have the same feel of atmosphere around them. Where Gosick works more on detective and the supernatural. While Emma it's more focused around a love story.

Both are period dramas with romance as the main theme. Although Georgie starts off very mild, once it skips the main character's childhood it gets a lot more mature and dramatic. You can actually skip the first 20 episodes 'cause they're fillers.

Both anime's setting is the same time period and country, England in the 19th century. Both anime's main characters are girls coming from middle class background, who charm people from superior backgrounds. Both anime depict the development of those girls in a heart-warming manner. If you enjoyed watching Emma, you might want to give Konnichiwa Anne a try, you won't be disappointed.

Although the settings are a bit different--Akagami no Shirayuki-hime is set in a historical fantasy version of Europe, and Emma is set in a historical 1880s-1890s London, the tale of a lower class girl and an aristocratic man still strike the same chord. Both Prince Zen and William Jones are gentlemanly heroes who respect their love interest despite her social position. Shirayuki and Emma are both hard-working women who take pride in their work.
