Hey.. :) I'm open to chatting up, discussing, debating with anyone here on MAL. But I won't be adding anyone to the Friends List. Thanks though, if you've considered but gomenasai! :)
The first time I was introduced to anime was by my best friend, a Chinese. She showed me an episode of Prétear. I found the animation interesting but that was about it. I wasn't familiar with the Internet as such and downloading was a far cry.
When I came back to my country in 2005, while channel surfing, I came across Animax, and it was half dubbed in the local language and half dubbed in English. I used to think they were like cartoons, so I just ignored it pretty much.
Right now, I would kill anyone for even trying to compare anime to cartoons!!
One night, when I had nothing of interest to watch, I put on that channel. Inu Yasha was being aired. For the heck of it, I started watching it. And it had me glued. I realised that it wasn't for teeny kids. It actually had a somewhat complex storyline.
From then on, I tried to catch a new series that would be aired on Animax. And gradually, being an amateur artist, I got engrossed into its artwork and the different plots and different genres.
Then came the unlimited internet access! Enlightenment!
Well, okay, that was after I missed an episode and since I was so hooked on to it, I decided to download the episode or try to watch it online. And when I realised the amount of anime on the servers, well, you can imagine.. ;)
Wooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo!!!!
;))
How I rate what I've seen:
The ones that received 10, if I critically looked over them, some would stand at an 8 or a 9. But I give 10 based on the final overall experience of the show. It's also about how much it moved me, or how much it was memorable, not just about being different or tight or that it had considerable development.
Over time, I've looked back and lowered the ratings of quite a few (and some vice-versa? Did I?) based on the residual impressions of them.
If I were to pick out flaws, which I totally can, I could have been ruthless. But I just can't deny how the story and the characters have connected to me, despite their depiction.
What turns me on:
BADASS WOMEN!! hoohaa! XD -- but badass = brainy badass. Not dumb brutes.
Strong characters for sure!
And then I guess I go for more realistic stuff. Realistic, as in realism of character identities and situations. I've watched a fair share of LOUD characters when I've been in the mood, but they lose their charm quick. Over time, they probably lost a point.
Preferred genres are
............. Josei (I'm so tired of school settings)............Taboo (show me the complexity of life, how would you even talk about it?).........
........Slice of Life............ Drama.................. Psychological......................
.......................... Action (with complex story lines)................Romance (and what relationships are, what they mean)............
........ Sci-Fi (this, my list says! I was surprised!)............
.....Supernatural/Fantasy within these, provided it is NOT fanservice.... urrgh.
.....Comedy is restricted to original, witty humour (not the forced ones where the character falls flat on the ground... dafuqqu)....
Was thinking about reading Dengeki Daisy, but I had a feeling that it might be a waste of time.. thx God I came actoss your review, I'm dropping this idea lol
Thanks for writing a review for Hibari no Asa. I struggled for a long time seeing that section empty, tried to write one myself but simply couldn't. I'm glad someone who cares a lot about the work filled it up.
Glad you read my review thank you for the feedback. Yeah appreciate the animation accuracy of this anime not just the music. If you are interested to read my future reviews I don't mind sending you a private message. If it's alright with you?
San Gatsu no Lion is interesting. But I need to finish the 2nd season of Rakugo first before I move to another critically acclaimed piece.
Your feedback on the show truly wonderful. Interesting, I like how you viewed the show when it comes to the historical aspect.

"Here's the thing, teenagers can be overly dramatic about stupid things but watching teenagers be overly dramatic about stupid things is really annoying. Especially when the narrative treats it like it's super serious."
Me, I disagree with this guy. I don't see too much melodrama heck they even resolve the problem naturally and they don't extend the conflict longer than it needs to be. For this anime is pretty unique on its own.
Speaking of reviews. I am actually working my anime Review on Kids on the Slope. Interested to read it? I am going to publish it on May 20, 2020. If you want I'll send you my review once I am done. If you don't mind.
I usually compress all my ideas and conclusion on reviews so when the time past. I can easily recall all my thoughts and opinion on a particular title.
Its a good anime, it doesn't deserve to be score a 3/10, at least 6/10 or 7/10 is forgivable for criticism in an objective view but 3/10 is just too brutal. You telling this anime is the same leagues as Hentais and Ecchi Harems? I don't think so. There too much effort and good writing to save this anime to be compared to do those filths. Unless it creates too many errors but I think it didn't do much worse and do more on the positive side. Yes the protagonist is scum from time to time but it does make him a more human character than your run of the mill "PERFECT MALE PROTAGONIST" and let's be honest there is no such thing a perfect prince everybody has their own filth regardless how pure they are. Yeah from the first place the motivation of the protagonist is to hit on the girl that talks to him for the first time that saying something but he learns more and gains more on what he "URGES" to get. It is like the only reason you want to be friendly because you want to get Laid but after interacting with her friends you realize, you just wanted a companion all along and learn to respect the girl's decision even if the outcome does fit how you imagine it.
They are actually character writing in this show that I learn to love it on what it is. The character ain't over dramatic, they're drama makes sense, and they don't shove to each other. Well, that's my opinion. I tend not to show my opinions on other people. It's them to decide whether they think the show is good or not. I am giving my reference for them to help decide. Kinda like Love.
Hey, can you tell me the reason behind not accepting any friend request? just curious. i think we have same taste in anime, as we both look for human nature & literature in this medium.
