They're both really mysterious and are about a weird girl meeting a special boy.

Both are anime that seem to be nice and charming but have a awful twist!

Both of these animes deal with villages that harbor a dark secret. Both of the villages have residents that take justice into their own hands. In Higurashi, the secret is much more hidden. In H2O, not a lot of effort is made to hide the secret

In both a girl is lonely and being bullied by others. A kind boy helps them and then a love triangle shows up.

Both slice of life, bit dramatic. Also they started airing around the same time =)
report Recommended by Shinbou
Both stories have characters that have a dark past and a protagonist that loses their loved one and meets her again.

both show the difficulties of love, love triangles and other things (such as bullying) as well as dark secrets. however, school days is much more twisted and psychological.

Once again. Key Visuals. Fantastic, but sad. Check it out. Try also to get the OVA's if you watch it. It makes the series that much better

Same make of Clannad. All of their work is very sad, and all a Slice of Life. I recommend this even if you dont like this anime. Its just plain fantastic

Similarities: Both lead muchachos can see ...........DEEEEEAD PEEEEOPLE!!..!!!....WHUUUUU,HU,HU! Both ghosts can eat, play and physically interact with the lead muchachos. Both lead muchachos suffered a terrible loss. Dissimilarities: In AnoHana only one muchacho (male lead) among the 5 former amigos (friends) can see their dead amiga (friend feminine). In H2O, the ghost has special ability to grant what the muchacho wishes, It can also leave whenever it wishes. In AnoHana, the ghost don't have a slightest idea as to why she can't cross-over and why she can only manifest herself to only one muchacho (the lead male character). In AnoHana the ghost has the body of a 15 year old  read more

They both show how the main protagonist has to deal with a new life where they move to a rural area and meets new friends. It seems good if you want a slice of life show where the setting it is not the city.

1. Main character with a physical illness moves to the countryside. 2. He befriends a girl who is an outcast/bullied by the social group they belong to. 3. He protects the girl even though he doesn't know her backstory.

H20 is a lower quality version of Clannad. You have a protagonist who has different circumstances--blindness in H20, and delinquency in Clannad--who is followed around by or meets a harem of girls. Cue crazy back-stories and a plot that just throws in random problems to make it seem spicy and you have either series. The difference is H20: Footprints in the sand finishes in half the time.

the same kind of feel...especially the romance aspects. both touching and worth watching

There a bunch of girls and one boy. They have hidden secrets also like H2O and have romance!

Both series feature tragic love stories and two girls who can't come to terms with their painful pasts, both girls face hatred and love. - both only have one season - main characters are girls - both have dark themes - small stories

Love stories that just makes you want to cry at the end.

Both series have Romance, Slice of School Life, and Drama. The main characters from both series share similar characteristics and are transfer student trying to fit into the school and the town. In doing so, they find the person they truly love and form friendship with new people.

There's one female that everyone dislikes, Male helps her out, Although in Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko he helps her cousin, he is still attracted to her, H20 is tragic.

The character designs are very very similar and there was this eeriness that made it seem so similar.

These are similar because they make you think, they provoke you and try to relate to you. It's very touching so I suggest them to you.
report Recommended by Kami_no_Tou
Both are great and very sad anime adapted from a visual novel. Another similarity is that the in both anime the main character lost his parents.

If you like drama, romance, and tragedy, then both these series may spark some interest. H2O: Footprints in the Sand leaves the MC a deep emotional scar due to an event similar to the protagonist in Kimi ga Nozomu Eien/Rumbling Hearts. Both try to move on while staying facing their own personal demons.

It has an interesting story just like asatte no houkou. It also has really sweet romance. I don't know why but the overall feeling just reminds me of asatte no houkou. I think that anyone who likes one should like the other

High school slice of life romantic dramas. Need I say any more? Kimi kiss shows several characters fall in love, with several love triangles, whilst H2O there appears to be the obvious couple, however is much less predictable and more development on the character rather than relationship side. Both good similar romantic dramas though.
report Recommended by sugarplumfairy
They both explain the past life of each girl's life and their current situation.

There's a maid girl in Moekan that reminds exactly of the one girl with the red hair. I swear she looks like her sister or something, she shows up in the second episode however though.

These are both soul-rockingly good times brought to life by SCA-JI, the master of Japanese fiction. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll learn a little about yourself in the process. Fans of both series may also be interested in checking out the Moekan OVA.

H2O is much more romance slice of life drama, whilst shigofumi is episodic and supernatural, however both are excellent dramas and shows the psychology of humans; having both unique characters and the influence on other humans on each other. both also have a very dark feel to them. and both a brilliant watch.
report Recommended by sugarplumfairy
Both of them are very touching, and they have similar ending.

hayami= satellizer hinata=rana kazuya=takuma in both anime, the male protagonist are interested on unusual girl, both of the unusual girl have dark past and many secret.
report Recommended by shast007
I've no idea why but since the first episode ive had a feeling that Ookami is very similar to H2O footprints, maybe its the art or the characters, but seriously i keep thinking these are so similar but remember H2O is more light and less dark just the characters seem very simliar
report Recommended by jigglypuff
Both shows have pretty poor animation and exposition that doesn't really serve the intended purpose of informing the viewer of anything coherent.
report Recommended by kyonichi
These series both focus on harem elements. They can have some comedy and light-hearted moments, but something darker with a hint of mystery lies underneath. Grisaia, I think, is a little more dark than H2O. But they are both satisfying mystery-type harems IF you enjoy these genres/themes.
