Detective gets called back to the police force due to a string of crimes with philosophical undertones.
report Recommended by DevNotes00
Both are about criminals, masterminds, and brutal mind games. Have a very similar feeling on how action develops, how things are hidden, and how rotten is society. Great story and action scenes; in both don't fully understand what's going on, until the story allows you to. Plus, B's art, soundtrack and character development are all great (episode 3 has one of the nicest battle scenes I have seen).

Contrasting ideas. Opposites. People with different views using tricks of the mind to try to out-smart eachother, with elements of supernatural in the background. And trust me, in both series, many and horrible deaths occur. A definite comparison.

B the Beginning is a more fantasy/sci-fi themed Monster, a story in which two genius minds chase after each other. Lots of mystery in both series.

# The shows both feature organized non-humans causing mayhem and a human police force working to solve murder cases in order to discover what's really going on. # Non-human teenage protagonists having an 'unusual' eye sharing their spotlights with older human detectives. Did I mention that in both series, the non-human main character's hair turn white at some point? # The characters' designs are somewhat similar across the board, but it's especially true when looking more specifically at the series' villains: Colourful, expressive and twisted. More similarities arise toward the ending. # Both shows feature some gruesome deaths.

Pretty similar shows, both of them are about the police trying to track down criminals/bad guys that use or know of some supernatural power and the said criminals/bad guys are trying to do something that may upset the balance of the world. They, also take place in the modern age

Both series have a similar atmosphere and the MC of both anime are quite similar, they both have a dark past. And both aren't well quite normal human.

Both are about young people having to figure out their new -demonis-like- powers. Other parties, unclear to the protagnists are clearly involved and a lot happens behind the scenes. Ao no Exorcist is more direct than B: The Beginning.

While the mixture of detective and paranormal are popular, a mixture of detective and fantasy is less common, yet these two series manage to blend the two. And, of course, the enemies use music, something normal detectives aren't used to when trying to solve a mystery.

Both shows feature a police/detective cast with beautiful and at times trippy settings, as well as sci-fi surrealistic plots. Both shows keep pace and keep you fully immersed in the mystery.

Similar tone and feel. Both revolve around action, mystery, and confusing plots that unravel over the course of the show.

The god s eye Fantastic action scenes

Both revolve around the idea of "superhumans" and have incredibly interesting takes on it. same general vibe as well

Both anime have a dark atmosphere and great soundtracks. Main characters are smart and they had some hardships in life, they both lost someone they loved and now are trying to solve their case. And in all that we have some higher powers who control police and government. Some conspiracy theories too. And same voice actors.

Both series have a similar dark atmospher close to thriler Supernatural and police procedural High quality fight sequences Both have rotagonists whose arm turns to sword

The plot is not similar at all. But the feel is pretty similar, mainly the fight scenes, how his body is made up of katanas/swords, and just overall dark theme throughout the show. The MC is pretty bland and not relatable, but fights insanely well, the supporting characters make up for the MCs lack of personality. I really loved dororo, and didn't find B:tb until about a year later. But it gives me BIG dororo vibes for sure. If you like one, im pretty sure you will enjoy the other.

A more mature anime for those looking for an alternative to the popular Shonen. It explores darker themes like death, with a philosophical approach which in my opinion gives the audience something to think about. At the same time, this helps evolve the characters and create a bond with the viewer. Both psychological thrillers highlight the mysteries of life

Both anime are police procedurals mixed with horror-action.

Subete ga F ni Naru and B: The beginning are both mystery-investigation anime that deal about crimes that have a twisted explanation. B:The Beginning is rich with action scenes and has a slight bit more supernaturally than Subete ga F ni Naru.

In both shows the supernatural appears bit by bit in the modern world threatening its peace. Both MCs are regarded as good even if they dont fight for the world but for their personal reasons and their enemies as evil because the things they are doing disturb the peace of the world.

Gritty detective stories set in futuristic urban landscapes, bridging the gap between science fiction and hard-boiled noir. Both anime focus on secret organizations and themes of child experimentation, but beyond the plot, they also share a similar vibe and atmosphere, mixing action with mystery, but also with some humor spliced in.

Two sci-fi thrillers that are not afraid to be totally absurd. Both have intense action sequences that border on insane adding more and more elements that make them unbelievable(ly entertaining). Overall crazy vibe meets super edgy characters makes for a weird but exciting experience. Each dabbles in detective mysteries but become more focused on fantasy elements as the story unfolds towards the end. *Bonus* Both shows have toilet scenes.

Its incredibly difficult to explain this without giving spoilers. It does some very good jobs of torturing its characters in such a varied way that it makes those characters great. The develops of protagonist , and his fear is really believable. The story is cool, although the last episode leaves a little to be desired. You may have heard the ending is unclear. Deep mining in the story and mystery.

The feeling is the same.. there is powerful monster-like main character.. quite misterious, dark and innocent at the same time.. they at time look very similar.. and he is hunting down other monsters like him without a clear reason.. with a huge conspiracy behind. I would not be surprised to find that the script is from the same author.. also music and intro are very similar

Kara no Kyoukai and B: The beginning both deal with people that are more than they appear and are connected to crimes. Both anime have a dark theme filled with action and supernatural elements. Both have a very good psychological and philosophical context.
report Recommended by Nao
The main character in both shows is a genius, a very weird genius with a sad past and an heartbreaking childhood. in both shows they are helped by amazing women who are reconized as geniuses and are not there just to be an object. Both have magical aspects in their storylines and are mixed with darkness and funny parts but not too distracting. Finally both leave open the possibility for sequels which is so great.
report Recommended by letsdootaku
Both deal with terrorist threatening the main characters lives and the people around them. Both also have main characters with mysterious pasts.
report Recommended by SeasideLua
Both deal about twisted storylines that all have a connection with each other that ends in death. The way the major criminal in both anime murders his victims is very similar. Overall both anime give a strong feeling of similarity off. However with B: The Beginning we have more action scenes, whereas Mouryou no Hako has a more dramatic approach.
report Recommended by Nao
Both series have a similar feeling throughout. They both focus on a Cat and Mouse style involving strategy and outmaneuvering one another through smarts and leverage.
