Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri

Both shows have an otaku protagonist who is hired by the government to go to another world. 

Both have scenarios where a relatively geeky person (or so it'd seem) from our world suddenly has to deal with another fantasy world. Both main characters are OP. The series each contain a lot less violence and a lot more to do with politics than one would expect. Both are worth watching for people who wish to be whisked away to a world that combines two and imagining what would happen to us if we were there! 

They are similar. They are iconic. Have well defined art style. They employ in magical worlds with huge conflicts. Even though Overlord has a far more simpler storyline that Gate.  

*Both series has a concept of war time *old history fantasy vs the technology of war today 

Both of those anime are about a Gate which suddenly appeared in Japan, and monsters came out of it. In both of them the monsters are pushed back and even the people go to the other world to fight and investigate  

I'm surprised no one has recommended it yet. Both anime are about an Otaku MC who takes a mission in an alternate fantasy world. The heroines from both shows also look alike: a Goddess, a loli mage/wizard, and a blonde who's the tallest girl in the group. Both are action packed anime with comedy. The difference is GATE is about military while KonoSuba is purely an adventure in fantasy world. 

In both stories the anime/other world bacomes reality. The people from the anime/other world as well are the people form the real word fight for their beliefs. Both male MCs like very much anime/manga/light novels and also like to come in contact with the people for the anime/other world. 

Both have OP themes by the Akeboshi Rockets and go for a similar, sleek visual style. If you're a fan of fantasy settings with a focus on military engagements, tactics and an ensemble cast of both male and female roles, both of these shows give you plenty. 

Modern world people goes to a fantasy themed world. Main characters from modern world heavily influence people from the fantasy world.  

Lots of fighting in both animes. However, Youjo Senki is based on World War I, while GATE is a fantasy anime. Nevertheless, both are great animes and anyone interested in military based animes will enjoy them. For those who look for something lighter with more humor involved, I would recommend GATE. Those looking for pure badassery and exlposions, feel free to watch Youjo Senki. I can assure you that neither of the two will disappoint you. 

In both shows, a portal opens and connects two diffrend worlds a fantasy and a modern one. The shows involve a millitary/police guy and girl(s) from the fantasy world where they work together fixing problems along the way. 

This series is somewhat similar. They both have to do with war, both being in a different world of their own. In both anime's, warriors from a different era come to this other world and fight battle of sorts and because they are from a different era, they mostly over power they're enemies. 

It's Basically a reversed version of gate. 

Gate and SAO contain two very different plots, however each one is centered around a main male protagonist who each are able to become surrounded by pretty girls as they explore new medieval-esque lands they are sent to. Gate directs it's attention towards war, differences in culture and politics of both worlds whilst SAO focuses on the lives of individual characters and the struggles they face as they try to leave the game 

Gate is kinda the vice versa version of devil is a part timer, where humans go into a new world and adapt, devil is a part timer being the supernatural beings in the human world. Both show's have similar interactions between the two groups and both shows deal with an overlying theme of bonding.  

I couldn't help feel that both shows bare so much similarities with each other. Both revolve around moving between both worlds where the fantasy world gets introduced to modern time technologies in a matter of transactional and aristocratic and political benefit between both worlds. Roukin has a more lighter and comedic approach to these underlying themes, whereas Gate has significantly more in-depth explorations of the implications of diplomacy between both worlds. 

Both these shows contain a main character that comes from a modern world and are thrown into a fantasy world with magic, elves, knights, etc. They are light hearted and serious when it comes to their friends and ones they care about. The plots can also be tied to each other. Our "modern" MCs are the hero that can change and disrupt the life of a fantasy world as they learn more of their surroundings and how to adept to the new world around them. 

Gate is best described as something akin to the spiritual successor of 'Those Who Hunt Elves'. People from modern Japan find themselves in medieval fantasy land... and they come equipped with guns and tanks! TWHE is more small-scale in terms of scope since there are only three characters that travel to a new world; armed with only one tank. And the plot is simply 'strip elves so we can get back to our world!'. Gate, on the other hand, is a modern vs. medieval culture clash series, complete with humvees, tanks, helicopters, mortars, etc being used in battles against a less advanced civilization. Both series are basically comedies, though--it's just Gate has a more serious underbelly than TWHE. read more 

Solo Levelling and Gate share similar concepts where a fantasy realm converges into the real world through an actual "Gate" or Portal in the attempt to wreak havoc to the people on earth. The weaponization power systems and organizational structure is well explored to bring a level of realism and more high stakes. On top of that, political & business agenda's are often used as pretext for power plays when it comes to dealing with the fantasy realm and its elements. What's slightly differentiates between the two shows is that humanity has an overwhelming advantage and stability in the world of Gate: Jietai. Whereas in Solo Levelling, the stakes are significantly higher where both realms are in an apparent state of a stalemate. read more 

Both involve a character from another world entering one filled with fantastical elements. 

Both Anime's are following the Idea of introducing something from our world to the Isekai world, where as GATE introduces military and Yaoi to the the Isekai world, Isekai Shokudou is about introducing earthly cuisine to the Isekai world. Both also has the Isekai vibes and i think are enjoyable to watch as we see how the people from the Isekai world reacts to the new things they are seeing. 

Both follow the same theme. What will happen when a future civilization meet a civilization from the past? While Zipang take it more seriously both shows are quite similar. The Gate feature fantasy and lot of comedy in between scenes while Zipang is more realistic, gate does have more mature/violent scenes while it looks more friendly. If you like anime where that the main cast is far superior and beat the shit out of their enemy it is a good show to enjoy without relaying on too much of superpowers, but advancement in science. I guess?  

Sato(nhk) reminds me of Itami(gate), they are look a like and also they' shares the same hobby. So if you're looking for that kind of MC, I'll recommend you to watch both shows. the other(gate) has more actions, while the other(nhk) is very relatable. enjoy!! 

A unique story with different dimensions of space and time 

Both animes have a male protagonist who is older than the typical young/boy male protagonist. Both male protagonists have the same japanese voice actor. Both animes have a romance/harem vibe even though it is not one of the listed genres. Very unique and likeable girls characters. Both have good amounts of comedy.  

The premises are not particularly similar, one involves high schoolers in a zombie apocalypse, the other the JSDF in a fantasy world. However, If you enjoy either of these for the right reason; that being laughably over the top action and an intense hard on for guns and weapons on the part of the author. Then you're sure to enjoy the other 

Both of these shows are about bringing the military into unusual places. In Gate, the military fights in a fantasy world while in Full Metal Panic, military action takes place in school.

you could say Choyoyu is a poor man's Gate. the characters get isekaid, introduce locals to benefits of modern science, win their hearts and aid them against abusive nobility.  

Similarities: Sasaki to Pii-chan and GATE both feature main characters who are in their thirties, bringing their mature perspectives and life experiences into their adventures. They explore themes of interacting with different worlds where characters can freely travel between modern-day settings and fantastical realms. Both series highlight the protagonists' roles in bridging these worlds and navigating the complexities and challenges that arise from their interactions with diverse cultures and environments. Differences: While Sasaki to Pii-chan focuses on economic strategies and interdimensional trading as the protagonist builds wealth and navigates business challenges, GATE centers on a modern military officer who leads a defense force through a portal to a fantasy world, where they must establish diplomatic relations and protect Earth from external threats. The former emphasizes entrepreneurship and societal integration through economic endeavors, whereas the latter explores themes of diplomacy, warfare, and the clash of modern technology with fantasy realms. In my opinion, while both series feature protagonists in their thirties navigating worlds that bridge modern-day and fantastical settings, Sasaki to Pii-chan offers a narrative focused on economic success and strategic planning, while GATE provides a blend of military action, diplomacy, and exploration of cultural differences in a fantasy context. read more 

They are both animes that put a very unique twist on the Isekai genre. And focus a lot on the world-building instead of an overpowered MC. Granted Slime does have an overpowered MC but it still makes up for it by the effort it puts into the side characters.  

Both of these anime’s feature heavy geopolitical issues brought into the show, while also maintaining a fairly simplistic viewpoint of them so watchers still can enjoy the show between the occasional harem-like scenes in Gate and occasional dates in realist hero. Both shows focus on an MC going to another world, while Gate has an otaku enjoying mc and Realist Hero is an isekai with an mc who focused on politics. Both shows feature the occasional fightscene for shounen fans who may want a calming sunday. Overall both shows are a great way to see modern creations in a new light. Gate is great if you have always wanted to see the medieval ages fight modern age technology  read more 

Ive noticed there is blurred line between fantasy and modern world in universes of both shows. There is war between humans and vampires. Gate is more character interaction focused OnS is more battle focused. Rather different animes from the bunch.

Similarities - Both MCs are straight males (obligated to state this) - Both MCs isekai/reincarnate from modern world into ancient world - Both MCs have a harem - Both MCs use modern solutions in the ancient world (tanks/infantry/guns/iPad/ICBM/MRE/Cola) Differences - Wan Jie MC is a immortal god of space VS. Gate MC is a mortal JSDF officer and negotiator - Wan Jie MC fights against gods VS. Gate MC fights against monsters and roman-era soldiers - Wan Jie doesn't kill humans in ancient world (or avoids it) VS. Gate MC kills humans in ancient world (isn't explicitly stated but inferred several times) - Wan Jie is a CGI Chinese Donghua VS. Gate is a 2D Japanese Anime - Wan Jie is a cultivation/xianxia story Vs. Gate is a action/fantasy/adventure read more 

Both MCs don't enjoy working very much,, but they are really good in their professions, and they'd do anything to protect the ones they care about. 

this is similar to death march because it has to do with humans entering a non human/human world that otherwise was not known about with all that goes with it, magic, demons etc. 

Both of these series integrate fantasy/magic well with modern military equipment/structure. Highly recommend if you like to see the military actually be useful in a fantasy setting. Also, piles of cute girls!  

military fight for human survival with drama 

id say that if you have watched bakemonogatari and loved it you will also love gate. Why well both deal with fantasy and mythical monsters, and although they are very very different that is why i recommend it to someone that has watched it. you can get you fill of fantasy and mythical creatures and legends from both of these anime while enjoy two rather good stories. Gate goes more in the direction of mythical creatures from another world meeting and getting to understand modern day humans from our relm. while Bakemono similarly brings together to worlds that being the dark underworld of mythical deadly creatures and modern day society. they are not exactly alike but that is the point i hope you enjoy it like i have. read more 

Both are stories filled with unique species, (Angels, Beast-Girls, etc.) and they take place in the future. They both have a strong war focus; though Gate uses modern weaponry when Utawarerumono uses more medieval warfare. The main character is followed by a group of women of are interested in him romantically. But it is apparent he is interested in one specific of the group. There is at least one large beast and a main enemy force; and magic is present in both series. Both series seem to take a dark path as well. If you enjoy one, you will definitely enjoy the other!  

Where as Valkyria Chronicles is more serious and Gate more on the humorous side. The characters are likeable. Great military animes. Gate is still airing but I expect it to satisfy my love for the military just as Valkyria Chronicles did 

Big scale war. Lovable characters, some comedy on the side. Excellent animation in battles. Protagonist leads a small but victorious unit into battle. 

Women from another world/planet being protected by a single (and sometimes foolish) man. Lots of ecchi, of course. 

Kuroneko fans, rejoice: your waifu may be no match for incest but in Gate her more sadistic, raunchy clone returns to anime and is seemingly determined to kill men with a huge axe. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned?... In all seriousness: I refuse to believe Rory Mercury from Gate is not based on Kuroneko from OreImo. THEY EVEN HAVE THE SAME NAME: Rory / Ruri! To be more precise, Kuroneko from OreImo looks and acts like Rory whenever she is cosplaying as a 'GothLoli'; complete with a haughty / condescending-but-playful persona. All Ruri would have to do is cosplay as her namesake from Gate and, BOOM: samesame.  read more 

Both are fast-paced, action-packed and confusing knowing no bounds, but keep pressing on anyway. 

Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri features Rory Mercury, an immortal small girl with a cute fashionable appearance, similar to Tsukuyomi's Hazuki, that likes the male character.  

Both of these series have many similarities yet are both unique in their own ways. They are both are set in a magical and mythical world filled with a whole mixture of tribes and communities of people, animals, and mythical beings. Both stories follow a protagonist that is new to these worlds and are learning things from scratch. In Magi it is Aladin, in Gate, it's the JSDF. Magic also plays a big part in both worlds, though it plays a bigger part in Magi than in Gate. In both, you also get to meet different types of God like beings. Both stories also deal with hierarchy, particracy and most notably both series, on some level, focuses on discrimination of different people and beings. read more 

Both are tales of an adult with professional job through which he meets various citizens of fantasy words and even gathers interests of some non-human girls. In one case the protagonist is a doctor, while in the other one he's a soldier. 

Main Similarities: •The main characters in both anime are strong, despite not appearing as one. •Both characters share similar-ish personalities (Itami from Gate is less perverted than Issei from DXD). •Similar genres (ecchi, harem, romance, action, etc.). •Tons of fan service (way more in Highschool DXD). •Both anime are long (Gate has 2 seasons - 20+ episodes while Highschool DXD has 3 seasons - 30+ episodes). If you're like me (who enjoys ecchi, harem anime), then this is the perfect one to watch. 

Main Similarities: •Main character have similar personalities and both very strong. •Both characters go to a place filled with danger and adventure (in Gate, they go through a gate to another world while Dungeon Ni Deai, the mc goes to a dungeon with many floors filled with many monsters. •Similar environment (a world filled with elves, mages, gods, etc.). •Similar genres. •Both anime have multiple women falling for the main character. •Some fan service (more on Dungeon Ni Deai though). •Great artwork. •Both anime are very good.  

Yuan Long is like GATE if you like modern military equipments (guns/bombs) vs. medieval equipments (sword/magic) action and fights !!! 

Both conflict between Human race and other world Same with Gate, Maoyuu get some scene when human learning something new. Both wanna seek a peaceful path to end the war 

It was both having fight between soldiers. Both travelers from these animes have supreme knowledge about the art of war, and the proper equipment used in wars. 

If you like seeing a realistic, competent, military force (in both cases, the JSDF) performing humanitarian operations using realistic equipment and procedures, then either of these anime have things you might enjoy. 

In both of these anime the main protagonist has a sense of YD where he only does what he wants to do. Kagami from Denpa Kyoushi only does what he wants. In Gate Itami only does what he wants to support his anime hobby. In both anime the main protagonists are also otakus. 

- A Fantasy world that invaded the Earth. - Military vs so-called Monster 

The Irresponsible Captain Tylor's warfare is of the intergalactic variety, where as Gate's is a mixture of modern / medieval fantasy. But what links the two is the manner in which slacker main characters unwittingly find themselves promoted in the military and in charge of others after actions they themselves did not perceive to be that much of a big deal. And how they then proceed to become increasingly famous as heroes... despite having little to no motivation! The tone of the two series is also very similar: comedies with a harem-ish edge. Gate is more otaku pandering in this regard, but Tylor also has females lust after its lovably idiotic titular lead as they join his misfit crew; which is also true of Gate. read more 

2 very enjoyable Isekai animes. 

I liked them both. So maybe you'll like them both as well. Unfortunately it's already been some time since I watched Desetsu Yuusha no Densetsu (DenYuuDen). As far is I remember it got some political stuff involved which also is the case in Gate (politics within the empire of the fantasys world and between Japan and that empire). The male main characters were laid-back and cool guys. Ryner from DenYuuden often likes to take his afternoon nap even if there is other important stuff to do. Itami from Gate puts his hobbies (he is an Otaku) first. They are still both responsible and to their job (they are soldiers) if needed. And they are pretty good at it and strong. There is a lot of fighting and good action and nice secondary charakters. Gate is more focused on modern warfare with the Japanese army and their technology invading the fantasy empire. But you also get to see the old-style fantasy stuff of the empire. Magic is also a bit involved. DenYuuDen is heavily focused on magic. read more
