R.O.D: Read or Die

If you're interested in fighting style using paper as weapon. 

Look at those titles-- it doesn't take a genius to connect 'Read or Die' to 'Library Wars'. Both series have main characters who... well, love and protect books. And while Toshokan Sensou is more realistic than ROD, you can't deny the similarities. 

Both OVAs feature lots of humour, grotesque fighting (Yomiko's pavement-breaking papers vs Ayane's pavement-breaking cellphones), somewhat crazy characters, dramatic endings, some blood, a bit of shoujo-ai... The difference is that Gate Keepers 21 is dark and serious at its core, while R.O.D. is just a good piece of entertainment. 

Unexplained super powers, evil plots to destroy the world, and hot-blooded fights galore! 

At first this two series seem very different, but in the last episode of R.O.D their similarity can be seen. They both have action, and also deals about two friends (in R.O.D partially). One of then turns against the other for unknown reasons (Yomi and Nancy). And also in both of then Yomiko and Mato try to save their friends, but they also have to fight them (not so much Yomiko VS Nancy as Dead Master VS Black Rock Shooter). Finally they are both very dramatic and sad at the end. 

Cool Supernatural Fighting - Clash of Organizations 

The protagonists go on a journey to retrieve an object—a book in R.O.D: Read or Die and a device in Steamboy—from a powerful organization. Both shows concern global politics and power and have British and industrial elements. 

Shorter anime series that caricature an existing genre (samurai/secret agent) by dialing up the absurdity and character-quirks. The stories revolve around a chase for a coveted object that the protagonist is especially interested in, and ends up fighting against a range of enemies who have ridiculous but powerful weapons/abilities. 

They both have adult women who act carefree, almost childlike, but are skilled in combat. They have good action and music. Moreover, they both feature close friendships between women, and certain characters in Jormungand even seem to be named after characters in Read Or Die. 

Putting it Simply, Girls with Special Powers fight Bad Guys. Putting it Largly, People with very simple powers use them in interesting and amazing ways to fight Bad Guys and Evil Orginizations. R.O.D. definitly has more depth to it's story and charecters then Mission-E but both are worth a look. I also Recommend watching the sequel R.O.D. TV, and the prequel Code-E. 

Read or Die is not as violent or as sexual as Ninja Scroll, but both are fast paced, stylish action stories. Both have well-designed characters with unconventional, imaginative powers. 

Both series deal with books as a main theme, with a strange setting and interesting concepts. However, these are not ordinary books. Both in Read or Die and Tatakau Shisho, books hold great powers. Similarly, both have characters with various supernatural powers, divided into two factions/agencies with great ambitions over the world. Although the stories are completely different, there is a striking similarity in the overall mood of the series. 

Same fresh vibes. Spies, powers and both are amazing. 

Yomiko Readman likes to read and Hiroko Matsukata likes to write. At first glance they're really different, but somehow they have similarity in their way of living: they optimistically look towards the future and believe that something better will happen. 

Both have the theme of the main female character having the natural ability to control elements.  

Both have the villan with a god complex who believes that mass murder is the answer to problems of the world. In R.O.D., the villan creates clones while in Blue Submarine he evolves animals to the level of humans. 

Both feature bespectacled women who deliver a lot of beatdowns amid sci-fi tinged settings and ridiculously over the top action scenes, while shoe-horning in emotional tragic resolutions. Mnemosyne is the more perverted, but don’t take either of these anime seriously, just sit back and enjoy the B-movie level hijinks.
