Both are short anime about the life story of a girl trying to live on her own, told through the perspective of her cat.

- Short animes that deal with similar family theme and nostalgic feel - Both are set in a near futuristic setting, or at least a little more digitally advanced than our current time - Both have very beautiful graphics.

They are touching short stories made by Makoto Shinkai. Both stories include a girl & a cat with a similar premise of going through the hardships of the working life in the cat's point of view.

The main similarity is that both are commercials. "Dareka no Manazashi" is for real estate company and "Cross Road" is for correspondence education service. After watching them you would want to see full movie/series.

Both are short sentimental stories about young women looking back at their past

Pet relationships. Egao and Someone's Gaze follow a young lady who has had a loving relationship with an animal. Egao being a hamster, Someone's Gaze using a family cat. Though Egao is a music video, and Someone's Gaze is a mini-movie. Both are good short anime, made by the same director Makoto Shinkai.

Nostalgia. Flavors of Youth and Someone's Gaze both revolve around people reflecting on their time when they are younger, a time different to their hardworking lifestyle that all people endure as they grow up. Flavors of Youth as a trilogy of three stories. Someone's Gaze does this in a shorter span of time. Both are good stories about looking back on a time when life was full of wonders. Both are also made by CoMix Wave Films.

More so with night world's first story, both manage to bring some heartfelt stories about one losing their pet. Such, of course, calls for a way of bringing yourself together through some different variations of means of comfort. Powerful shorts, I would watch all of both.

Not only do they share a writer/director, but there is a similar emotional theme in both.

Touching shorts about childhood, family, growing up, and adulthood. Great attention paid to the small details in human behaviour, anime realism at its best.

Similar advertisement shorts. Both still very nicely done.

Both feature a brief "what if" story with a focus on a young adult female that is trying to become independent while also reconnecting with her family, as well as set in the near future with some cool developing technology cameos that blend into the everyday life.

The setting of near future seems to be similar in both anime. The animation is somewhat similar too. However the length and theme are different in the two anime.
