You'll notice in an eye beat that both series are very similar: - both are sports genre, specificately both are about basketball - both have great artstyle - both show a quite unique developing of the characters - both KnB and SD have awesome characters with special abilities and strong personalities - both also have funny comical scenes alternated sometimes to the normal pace of the story - they both have great musics and osts ..etc. I could actually continue but truth is that there are way too many things to list.. Slam Dunk is a sure "must watch" between the classics sports anime, while Kuroko no Basket has a very original  read more

Both sports anime. Both male leads are self professing 'genius' at the sports, and have about the same character. The leads' group of friends even seem similar!

Protagonist-Raw talented individual whose ability is jumping and almost infinite stamina. Both protagonist are very lively and emotional individuals. Rival- Extremely talented individual who at first believe they can single-handedly win the game. Both anime shows how these individuals grow into a better sportsmen.

Both anime feature a more realistic style of basketball. In Slam Dunk the main character is a delinquent. In Ahiru no Sora, most of the characters are delinquents.

both animes are from the 90's hence they have the same art style. both main characters are delinquents trying to change to be good. they are very funny and memorable characters and will make you come back for more.

Well you probably wondering how come this two anime's are similar ? The answer is quite simple, in both the main characters are new in the field of the sport they "playing", and were they are trying to become one of the best! Also a lot of delinquents action so the figthing is mutual in both anime's :) And must not forget the comedy that is present, it's probably better than in some animes that are focused on only that ! :)

They are both series about Basketball. Buzzer Beater is a bit more on the scifi end, both are series that will be enjoyed by basketball / sports anime fans.

Both of the series have a male protagonist with similar personality. Sakuragi Hanamichi and Mitsuhashi Takashi are a lot alike; they have idiotic smiles and laughs, Hanamichi used to be a delinquent while Mitsuhashi is still one, they both like to fight though they often use tricks to escape from the difficult situations and find the easier way from them. Both animes are full of humorous things; their genres are shounen and comedy, while in Slam Dunk sport (basketball) has a great role as well. Both series were aired in the '90s, that's why the design of the anime is unique, i find the way they  read more

Both are sport related. The MCs are shown to have immense potential which hasnt ripened at the start. The MC are idiots. Both animes have the similar story where the MC works really hard to come up with the 'not giving up' attitude.

There are some very similar characters in these two anime (Naruto/Sakuragi and Sasuke/Rukawa).They have similar humor. However, Slam Dunk is a sports-anime and Naruto is about ninjas. They are both PG-13, but I think Slam Dunk has more depth.

Both are basketball and it shows win and loss on both team and them trying to improve themself

Slam Dunk and Kuroko no Basket are both sports genre anime, and as you can see, both of the anime's main subject is basketball. Kuroko no Basket's similar to Slam Dunk as because the anime both shows a competition or tournament within the region. The only difference of this shows is that; Slam Dunk is more on reality, while Kuroko no Basket is not realistic, the anime shows some weird basketball technique's which is impossible for people to do unlike Slam Dunk. Another thing why I should recommend Slam Dunk is that also has a great art, great story and great soundtracks.

Also a show about basketball, although Slam Dunk takes the realistic approach.

Replace Bishonen playing basket ball with Lolis playing basket ball Yep, easy as that...

Sports related. Life and pasts of the main characters, hardships of others teams. Basically the same thing but with different sports. Slam Dunk is a little more violent though.

Old school sports anime with an interesting cast that is sure to provide some laughs.

Both of these anime's are based on main stream sports, They both have similar animation styles, They both are realistic representation of their sports, They are both more about character development than the actual sport,

Both are sport anime where the main character is influenced to take up the sport due to girl problems. Both protagonists are alike in personality and are hated by those around them for being aggressive. Only through loss do both take training seriously, otherwise they are extremely arrogant.

How are they similar? It's simple. You won't be able to stop laughing!

Although one is about Space and the other is about Basketball; both have the same style, humour and vibe. Both have very similar types of characters in the show; main characters have very similar personalities. And both of them are characters who have strong will to achieve their utlimate goals

Though different in many ways the two animes share some similarities. Both are comedies featuring a self centered teenager that knew next to nothing about what they were going to do. In Sakuragi's case he was going to play basketball which he had never played in his life, and in Kanie's case he had to manage a whole amusement park to meet the next to impossible goal of 500,000 visitors. Another similarity is how the characters in both animes wanted to achieve an unfeasible goal. All of the characters in the anime's have a unique and likable personality that will keep you hooked throughout  read more

If you like characters and their development in Run with the Wind you may like characters in Slam Dunk too. They have a lot in common (passion, encouragement, perseverance, etc.) Also, Slam Dunk is quite fun and it has a similar realistic feel in contrast with for example Kuroko no Basket. So, just try it, you won't regret it. It's fun, quite realistic and it has great characters. And if you get to the end of the anime, you can just finish the story with manga, anime is completely based on it.

Starting from the protagonist's names Hanamichi and Takemichi are pretty similar. Both are delinquents and almost have the same hairstyle. They both have their own small gangs. The timeline was also quite similar with them being delinquents when they were at school.

Slam Dunk and Ao Ashi does not contain superpowers and just focuses on tactics and other elements that their sports has. Very good characters, contains good humour, wholesome and inspiring, cool and unique art style. Mc's has a specific ability/position where they truly shines or good at and they get to know that with the help of their coaches and senpais. And they're excellent players.

The environments here may be of more interest than either the comedy or sport, as in the limited time Goddamn doesn't quite establish a consistency that others in the same genre (e.g. Slam Dunk adapted at around the same time) develop over tens of episodes.

This first season of Gintama is 90% pure comedy and the characters are very funny and hilarious. The remaining 10% are serious arcs that makes this anime even better and makes it my top favorite anime series. My favorite characters in this series are Gintoki and Tsukuyu. I recommend this anime because it can change your life.

For both of the main characters a girl somehow becomes the reason they start the sport. Both shows have a realistic approach compared to most other sport anime. (baby steps has more though.) Neither show has great art/animation so if you don't mind one of the shows for that then the other shouldn't bug you in that regard. In baby steps the main character thinks and uses his head to make new plans in game while the mc of slam dunk doesn't think too much and seem to use his head too much and gets agitated easily. They both start out with disinterest of the sport.

Both are sports anime, though one is basketball and the other is football. Overall, both series teach us to never give up either in sports or in life, and to always fight for what we love. Both have comedic sequences, though were more frequent in Slam Dunk, and both have their respective main teams to face numerous challenges to reach the top of a ladder. They were also extremely popular outside Japan and US.

These two shows use well balanced silly comedy with serious moments. If you liked the Sakuragi gang in Slam Dunk I feel like there's some similar vibes to enjoy in Boukyaku Battery in terms of funny talk between the team players. Although, Kei Kaname initially played baseball before high school, he starts from the bottom because of a loss of all knowledge about it which is kind of similar to Hanamichi's start where he's physically strong but know nothing about basketball.

good alternative, both have sport (cross game baseball, slam dunk basketball), char developement but slightly different, in the first one is more romantic then in the second one...

Barely linked by basketball show with some adventurous matches. Basquash has shown major improvement in graphics after so many years. But Slam Dunk dominates in story and entertainment. Basquash's style is a bit too childish despite some ecchi screens provided.

Both animes are about the subject of Basketball. Like in Slam Dunk you can view rivlary over the basket in this anime too. Both animes have some great basketball movement and both are really great to watch.

Air Gear and Slam Dunk are both are shounen based, funny as and are about sports, air gear has rollerblading and slam dunk has basketball. The main character both start off hopeless but as time goes on people around realise their potential in their sports.

Here's another one where the main character is not the best in his team. The only difference is that one is damn arrogant and the other is damn whimppy

both are like serious/fierce sports shows

Both main characters are determined and have a real passion for the game that inspires the team around them to perform better. These are sport animes but the aspects and emotions of the human being are the real deal here.

the males (sakuragi and harima) almost dwarfs than their love interests (haruko and tenma).. plus a unique love triange... the rukawa-haruko-sakuragi love triangle is similar to the karasuma-tenma-harima love triangle.

Similar to how Sesshomaru's design could remind someone of Youko Kurama, the protagonist Hanamichi Sakuragi has such strong design ties with YYH Kuwabara that one need only to make subtle changes to the plot of Slam Dunk for it to fit with the continuity of YYH.

Both male protagonists are a "genius" in their specified sport. However, they start off hopeless and grow with each game and each new encounter. Character development is evident in both but Major emphasizes this element more with each season (6 in total) as you see the protagonist Goro grow from a baby to an adult. Both contain similar themes and have a love interest. If you enjoy the sport, you'll love the anime.

Both heavily focus on shounen and comedy. The male protagonists both start off hopeless as they are plunged into a new world (Sakurag with Basketball and Luffy within the Grand Line). However, they grow and gain new friends and rivals along their journey.

BEST 2 SPORTS ANIME EVER Both main characters just start in their respective sports and win their way to the top. Both shows have a great dose of comedy Both shows have great music
report Recommended by Spacenoid
both have basketball though kappei does go into other sports. as far as comedy, dash! kappei is just as funny as slam dunk if not more and they both have a main character that really stands out
report Recommended by midori-
Both about delinquents who became interested in playing sport
report Recommended by KaGi-13
Both shows portray the themes of winning and losing in the basketball world. Whilst Slam Dunk relies on an egocentric main character that strives for improvement, KnB relies on a tandem of polar opposites that bring out the best in not only each other, but their entire team.
