Recommendations

Both are some pretty ultraviolent and edgy cyberpunk ovas with a bleak atmosphere and no one really being a true hero in the story.

While these two anime have very different tones and settings, they are both famous for being a very bad anime. Angel Cop and Garzey's Wing are considered to be "So bad that they are good". While Angel Cop is more violent and darker compare to Garzey's Wing, they both have a story that makes no sense and horrendous dubs to laugh at. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Both series climax with a very powerful psychic going on a rampage; fighting an all-out battle against the protagonists.

Similarly styled action-packed science fiction story revolving around characters that aren't exactly good nor bad.

Angel Cop is a little more graphic in it's violence and gore.

Both titles are OVAs released from the same time period (late 1980's-early/ mid-1990's). Both anime deal with the rise of criminality and terrorist activities in Japan. The main protagonist in both anime are cops that has the ability to act outside the law and kills criminals with ultra-violence. Both anime are action-packed anime filled with violence, blood, and gore. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Both fun cop anime with over-the-top violence and gore.

An elite Anti-Terrorist Organization tries to solve a government conspiracy that they themselves are already a chess piece in. They both use this story to comment on the state of post-war Japan and Japans relationship with America especially (for Angel Cop though, you will need to find an uncensored version for this) Also Cyborgs.

Ultraviolent story with a bunch of unlikeable characters as cast that pretends to have some political themes, but it's just an excuse to put gore on it.

Both are pretty classic cyberpunk ovas staring a female lead and are caught up into all kinds of ultraviolent hijinks throughout the story too.

Both are incredibly over the top anime involving cops. They are also gifts from the gods that no mere mortal is worthy of laying their eyes upon.

Both anime involve extreme battles between powerful psychic forces.

Both are early 90s otaku pandering exploitation power fantasies, Angel Cop using cyberpunk robocop powers and Hon Ran martial arts. Both have the era's typical amounts of gratuitous nudity, over the top violence, conspiracy theory, and huge plot holes. What makes them similar is a strong and fairly serious political message to overthrow the government. In both cases, this is justified with blunt conspiracy theories put into the mouth of the protagonists. In Angel Cop's case, it comes from a fascist ideology with anti-semite and anti-American focus. In Hon Ran's case, the backing ideology is closer to anarchism and the message is anti-Chinese. Both OVAs can be  read more

even that angel cop is more grittier, both have female protagonist from a time that people din't bother with that forced fed ' inclusive and gender-bender' crap. Gunsmith cats is lighter due to more comedy but both shows have a love guns guns and more guns, and here and there a grenade. enjoy

I can't believe this one hasn't been added yet! They both involve killing criminals and questionable morals.

Very similiar in animation style. Story is a little bit alike.

Near-future urban violence involving high-tech armor suits.

Both feature Organizations behind the scenes orchestrating events for their own self interest. they're also both OVAs from the 90s. Angel Cop has a fair amount of expository dialogue but it's a drop in the ocean compared to LoGH.

Good anime if you like Parasite Dolls.

Both are titles from the schlock OVA boom during the late 80s and early 90s. Expect excessive violence, profanity, cheesy dialogue and over the top dystopian stories.
