Gothic animation revolving around mysteries involving the supernatural whether it be real supernatural or not. The designs are detailed and the story arcs pull one in.

The central characters in both of these anime are a detective (albeit forced in MTTN's case) and his/her supernatural slightly creepy "assistant" with unusual abilities. Both assistant characters seem to have a kind of hunger for solving mysteries, though not literal hunger in Un-Go's case. Both anime are episodic mystery stories with a twisted premise. MTTN has an active element of (dark) humor though while Un-Go appears to be more serious.

Un-Go & Shinrei Tantei Yakumo: both are mystery genre with a good capable detective as main character that has to solve cases; as well a supernatural factor grows bigger in both by every episode. If you liked one of them you might probably enjoy the other too!

While having very different plots and characters, The Perfect Insider drew me in just as quickly as UN-GO. Both are wrapped in mystery, and while UN-GO holds a more interesting, supernatural element - both keep you on your toes and make you try to solve the mystery yourself. UN-GO has many mysteries in one show and the Perfect Insider mainly focuses on one, but that one mystery gets more complex with every episode. I agree that both can have a slow start but they are both nonetheless intriguing and leave me desiring more mystery.

The art isn't very similar but the settings are extremely similar. Both take place in a cyberpunk future that is somewhat dystopian or otherwise given over to a government that has a lot of control over its citizens and the information they are given. Both delve a bit into technologies like androids and information technology and censorship. They are also both crime/detective dramas, GitS more so crime and Un-Go more so detective work. There's are nebulous references to a big war prior to the happenings of the story and and both main characters origins are a bit mysterious. There are some differences. GitS has a bit  read more

Both series contain the mystery theme. Both series involves an intelligent protagonist good at what he does: solving mysteries. Both series present humor and drama in a strange way. Both series contain another main character that is curious of the world and interested in tagging along with the main protagonist. Both series are great detective fiction fun.

Both are detective TV shows, un-go focuses more on supernatural cases while detective conan focuses on daily, realistic cases. Both are accompanied by feelings of Shounen genre bits

The mystery and supernatural elements are undeniably present in both series. But furthermore... The main character of the series solves mysteries with a supernatural partner on a daily basis. These mysteries also tie together and with the help of supernatural abilities. Both series offer something interesting to viewers in the mystery fiction department; supernatural element thrown in as a bonus

both have the same episodic/arc storytelling. in both we can see some confusing mystery getting revealed with the use of supernatural powers. both are based on japanese classics. main characters have the same aloof image, and use sort of supernatural creature to get to the bottom of the mystery. while mononoke is more serious and enigmatic, un-go is lighter and more about fun.

They're both murder mystery shows that have fabulous shiny butterflies.

Futuristic cities that crop up after another world war. Both Anime have a supernatural element, both Anime have similar styles and a similar feel.

Both have detective and supernatural themes. Both main characters have a quirky partner and together they try to solve complex mysteries. Great storylines too.

Lelouch has the Geass super power which has an absolute obedience that works once whilst in UN-GO, the detective has an absolute truthful answer that works once as well. The plot, age difference and genre is completely different but there are some similarities in the powers.

Both are similar as the protagonists try to reveal the truth behind who the killer was and why the person died. Both protagonists also use "special" methods in revealing the truths behind why the crimes took place.

Clever mystery series with enticing characters

Both involve a duo solving murder mysteries. Both duos consist of one superhuman and one human character. However, while Kuroshitsuji has a child filling the human role and an adult figure filling the superhuman role, the roles are reversed partially in UN-GO with a human adult and the superhuman character acting mainly as the child but transforming at times into a smexy, fully-blossomed woman. Also, both involve a pact between the two main characters that involves eating souls. However, the two anime have a slightly different feel to them. Kuroshitsuji is set in the past and has more of a gothic vibe, similar to Gosick,  read more

Un-Go and the second arc of Aoi Bungaku are based on the work of the early 20th century writer, Ango Sakagi. ("Meiji Era Ango Detective Story" and "In the Woods, Beneath the Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom" repectively)

These shows are remarkably similar in the style and tone of the mysteries they present. Although Un-Go has both a sci-fi and supernatural twist to them, it is probably the more traditional mystery out of the two. The characters in both are fun, although Un-Go has a better developed cast. If you like Sakurako-san, you will most likely love Un-Go. If you finished Un-go and wanted something to snack on, Sakurako-san isn't a bad choice, although you may find it lacking comparatively.

What are the similarities between a hero and a detective? In a society they both strive for justice and truth either with or against society. The corpse binds them to the search for the criminal. "Who is the criminal?" is the question they both try to answer.

Both of these series involve a a male protagonist detective who encounters a source that gives them supernatural powers. They're both accompanied and driven by their female partner to solve crimes which revolve around worldly sins greed, lust, etc along with other heavy concepts. I enjoyed both of these series and feel they share several traits. If you like slightly dark detective stories that involve supernatural powers you'll enjoy both of these series.

Like ACCA, Un-Go has that chill, slow-burn type of vibe and interesting world building. Both shows have a futuristic, jazzy feel to them, and they're thoughtful without ever being too heavy. The style of storytelling is very similar, and there's an underlying mystery aspect which helps to set up each's robust universe. They're also both quite short and stylistic.

Solving mysteries like a pro. Both of these anime(s) are unique and rare little gems that some fans might miss out in the old school days and the current era. Regardless, these two anime(s) offers something special for those who are into mystery, a bit of thriller, and detective fiction.

If Game of Laplace disappointed you, UN-GO is another series that transfer classic Japanese crime writing to a modern/sci-fi setting, and actually provided some strong mysteries with intriguing situations. We even have another cute kid assistant!

I'm very surprised no one has recommended this yet. Specifically, the Bake TV series is similar in that it's about a normal, competent guy protagonist who solves problems of others with the help of a supernatural being. Much like the prequel to Un-Go is Inga-Ron, the prequel to Bake is Kizumonogatari. Both sets help make the shows deeper. And both series have some cringy moments.

Despite their strikingly different premises and visual styles, UN-GO and Concrete Revolutio share the same concerns. Both series are intensely political, casting a critical eye on both cold-hearted pragmatism and blind nationalism, and showing how easily public opinion can be manipulated. The overarching tone is of weary cynicism -- not the "edgy", nihilistic cynicism of a grimdark series, but the cynicism of a disillusioned idealist who still believes that people should be capable of better things. While the postwar settings are different - one in a near-future dystopia, the other in an alternate-universe Japan - the real war being referenced (and the postwar issues in its  read more

Same feeling. Both deal with crimes and the struggle to solve them. Both build up a feeling of suspense In both of them the media plays an important role.

Detectives who take on supernatural cases, while being a mix of supernatural beings themselves.

Both are great science fiction anime taking place in a futuristic setting, and involve solving crimes, murders and mysteries. UN-GO has a supernatural element and is more focused in finding "the truth" rather than caring about justice, while Psycho-Pass is pure cyberpunk, and more about the moralistic repercussions of judging people based on criminal potential rather than criminal action.

Even though the plots are different when one is about being an assassin and one a detective but they gives of the same feeling. They both deal with supernatural beings and the main characters are in confusion of betrayal, also they lost someone dear to them. Both anime also have human-like beings (Doll/AI) Both anime contain mystery and investigation, with gloomy and dark aura. But darker than black contains actions which Un-GO doesn't since it focuses on the mystery part. Watching Darker than black reminds me of Un-GO.
