I try to go beyond my subjective responses in my MAL scores; this means that I may, for instance, give a higher score to an anime I dislike (but think is generally good) than to an anime which I like but recognise as flawed.

As such, my pure subjective preferences are reflected in my anime tags, according to the following scale:

10 - Loved it.
9 - Liked it a great deal.
8 - Liked it, fairly unproblematically OR Loved some aspects, disliked others.
7 - Liked it for the most part, but...
6 - Didn't particularly mind it.
5 - Meh.
4 - Mildly disliked it.
3 - Actively disliked it.
2 - Hated it.
1 - OH GOD MAKE IT STOP

if you think clannad didn't have a good slice of life its probably because you sat inside all throughout your highschool years so that you didn't experience shit

One thing for Clannad: it wasn't given an overly large budget. Rather, it was made by Kyoto Animation. If you know anything about that studio, then no further explanation is required to regard its quality.

Spot on clannad review. No point in adressing issues that are so close to real life while using characters that dont even act or resemble real human beings. Makes it impossible for me to care or feel emotionally invested in the series

Lol @ at all these butthurt Clannad fans. Really shows the target demographic for that show. Your review was fantastic. Nailed every point I've been trying to tell people for years about that overrated garbo.

I totally got bored of it right after I posted that. I might eventually force myself to finish, but who knows when.

it doesn't help that every girl in that show has eyes the size of my cellphone, contrasting creepily with the males who all have normal anime eyes.
