Welcome to my profile!
I consume mostly mystery-oriented content.
I've been watching anime for 7 years, but I'm not very active. I usually watch the anime I want to as a break.
You may find my ratings low and my critiques nonsensical, but I try my best to explain the points I criticize and my thoughts in the rest of the text, so if you'd like to read on, feel free to continue.
I place great importance on originality.
I don't like clichés or things that feel simplistic.
I especially admire anime that have a specific concept and aren't afraid to be creative.
I criticize things like repetitive plots, vague situations, deviations from the main idea or goal, characters not giving natural reactions, being simplistic or one-dimensional, and overly simple dialogues.
I don't pay attention to visuals in anime because animation keeps developing over time. Will the masterpieces we have today be dismissed in the future just because of insufficient animation? Similarly, are old anime bad just because their animation was lacking?
I don't think animation affects the quality, but I do criticize issues like inadequate scene adaptation, rushed scenes, skipped or cut content, and failure to convey the story properly, as these are issues that affect the series' presentation, not the animation itself.
People may argue different views here, but I believe a well-written plot with its flaws is better than a flawless anime.
Regarding symbolism, I don't see it as a logical point in anime critique because anime is a structure made up of stories, characters, genres, and plots. Symbolism is a personal matter where everyone can derive their meaning, and an individual's interpretation doesn't affect the actual quality of the series. Also, religious or philosophical motifs symbolized are not universally believed, so why should it be considered to positively impact the story? However, I exclude anime like Vinland that blend philosophy with the story.
Additionally, about fan service:
What people like or dislike doesn't affect anything. Fan service is evaluated within the plot, and if it's excessive, making the series cliché or artificial, then it can be criticized for being cliché and artificial. Otherwise, no matter how disturbing fan service is, being disturbed by it doesn't mean it's of poor quality. I'm not saying this because I like fan service; it's just that fan service doesn't have clear boundaries and is not suitable for critique.
Ecchi and hentai genres are generally against quality, so I usually give them low scores. However, a quality story can include sexual content.
Thank you for reading <3. I'm open to requests.

Sorry for taking so long to accept it - I've been pretty inactive here in recent months.
You have a really nice profile. I like that you took the time to explain your taste in anime, as well as what your ratings mean. I definitely agree that there's more to a good story than just being "without flaws".
