Magic Maker: Isekai Mahou no Tsukurikata

A 30-year-old man who dreams of becoming a wizard suddenly loses his life. Reincarnated in another world as a young child named Shion, he grows up alongside Marie, his dependable older sister who adores him. Shion eagerly anticipates using magical powers, but he discovers that the new world seemingly does not have any magic. He spends the ensuing years as a gloomy and dejected child until a mystical phenomenon at a nearby lake catches the siblings' attention and breathes life back into his magical dream.

While experimenting on the peculiar light emanating from the water, Shion finally confirms that magical energy really exists. It may not be convenient for anything just yet, but Shion devotes his time to studying the anomaly, determined to uncover all the existing wonders in his quest to make magic.

Preliminary (6/12 eps)

I actually agree with the other review that this is the best isekai of the season, but it doesn't mean that it's great by any means.

It reminds a lot of Mushoku Tensei, but with very little story so far.

The best thing about this show is that the magic system is a lot more complex than any other isekai I've seen so far. The main character is learning at quite a slow pace, but that's fine, it should be the norm for characters to struggle.

The main problem is that the struggle is not enough most of the time. Other than it being slow on the ... learning, the main character have it all else easy, everyone supports him in whatever crazy and dangerous plan he comes up with. Also, kind of like in Mushoku Tensei, it gets a little weird when you know the guy is 30 years old and seems too much into his 9 years old sister.

The art is good, the soundtrack is good, the animation is good. It's good overall, so I recommend it.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (10/12 eps)

A very unique take on magic and monsters - but the "incest" though...

First of all, don't watch the show if you're not willing to sit through the first 4-5 episodes.
They're quite boring and filled with the aforementioned "incesty" vibes, which quite frankly make them really hard to sit through at times.

Though once you make it past the first episodes you end up with an extremely interesting take on magic and monsters, both design (system) wise and artistically speaking.
Fight scenes are fun to watch and visually appealing. Initially the fights have weight to them - it feels like the mc is genuinely in danger ... but this fades or rather varies heavily throughout the show.

The plot is interesting enough and strategically serves the purpose of the mc furthering his magic know-how.
The characters themselves aren't all too interesting but it is hinted at quite frequently that there's a lot of (important) backstory yet to be told. Though until their backstories are revealed it's rather difficult to feel much for them.

Not a must-watch but good if you're deprived of any good fantasy shows.

so far i don't recommend it, because it takes too long for the MC to find and develop magic. it feels like a waste of time to enter isekai. the story would be better if it was shortened, finding and developing magic, then making him a hero of the kingdom in fighting monsters, a story like that would be more interesting for an isekai anime, rather than focusing on the technicalities of creating magic. especially for the early episodes, it's very boring to watch and enjoy. my score is 6, it can't be more because the story is also bad. if the MC becomes overpowered ... and there is an epic scene i would definitely give it a higher score, the problem of course is this stupid MC, he was actually an adult in his previous world, but when he reincarnated into isekai as a kid, his thinking also became a kid, he should have been able to act more mature.
