Doga Kobo (Doga Kobo, inc.) is a Japanese animation studio based in Nerima, Tokyo, Japan. Hideo Furusawa, who participated in the establishment of Toei Animation and NICHIDO SHIN PRO, and Megumu Ishiguro incorporated Doga Kobo, inc. as a limited company in July 1973 and reorganized it into a joint-stock company on July 11, 2006. In the same month, the studio became a majority-owned subsidiary of TYO — alongside its then-other animation subsidiaries Hal Film Maker and Yumeta Company — until its exit from the TYO Group via Ryo Ishiguro’s MBO of TYO’s shares in April 2009. In April 2020, Doga Kobo Animation Department Co., Ltd. was established via an incorporation-type company split from Doga Kobo’s animation department to improve the treatment of its animators.
Since the studio’s entry into animation production with Myself; Yourself in 2007, its notable works include Yuru Yuri (2011), Monthly Girls’ Nozaki Kun (2014), Plastic Memories (2015), New Game (2016), and Oshi No Ko (2023).
