Both mangas are the story of a group of people who have a "virus" and have a power for the virus. In both the main character have a bloody past and are reject by the society and are enclosed. In both a girl meet a boy in the childhood and after years they see again. And in both very people dead cause the "virus" and the powers.

Girls with supernatural powers are pursued by an evil laboratory who make experiments with them. A boy finds them and try to protect them from the organization. Both have lot a sad scenes and dramatic deaths.

~Both manga have blood, gore, and much pain, both mentally and physically. ~They both have organizations that do cruel and inhumane testing on people, and there are 'monsters' which cause the deaths of many people. ~They both also go deeper within the character's mind and show how what's happening affects them. ~The characters and/or main characters are also female.

Corpses, corpses and... more corpses. Albeit the concepts are entirely different, both Mirai Nikki and Elfen Lied depict a very crude and gory visualization of realism that consumes the whole series with its crazy factor (although Elfen Lied is way more intense). The main female protagonists happen to be anti-heroes as well, having occasional antagonistic personalities throughout the story and resulting to protect the typical weak-minded (at first) male protagonist that once had a normal life.

A girl is found -> she is taken home -> she is innocent, childlike, and she cannot speak but one syllable (so she is named) -> she is found to be unique of her kind, and seems to have a darker "version of herself" lurking somewhere deep in her subconscious. (Note though, that Chobits does not delve into the level of gore Elfen Lied does, and Elfen Lied, though it does contain nudity, does not focus primarily on ecchi as comic relief like Chobits.)

Experiments which create dangerous "people" with supernatural powers, AKA science gone wrong. Both are pretty bloody, but Elfen Lied has much more gore and ecchi.

These series are set in a reality apart from society. From different species that have been hidden from humans. Where a girl who holds immense power is discovered by a boy who can only admire his innocence, which turns out to be one of his two personalities. From there he will be involved in evil plans for the diclonius (Elfen Lied) and the Yokai (Rosario to Vampire) threatening humanity, bringing together different girls of those spices who only seek the company of others and understanding. In these two works you can see how the protagonist would give everything for them, despite being a simple human,  read more

Both have woman who fight and aren't human, and a human guy with dead parents as one of the main character. Both are pretty dark and gory and have no clear line between the good and the bad guys.

Elfen Lied and Another are works of God for fans of psychological horrors. Both stories contain the element of mystery as the characters investigate the past, where they slowly unravel the truth of their predicament. Elfen Lied differs as the story investigates the protagonists repressed past. While the story of Another features the characters trapped in a curse where they make attempt to escape, by investigating past cases. So, if your a big fan of an investigative story-line that contains people being ripped to shreds and dying at ever corner, it's likely you will love both series.

- Girls belonging to an strange race (Elfen Lied: Diclonious, Sora no Otoshimono: Angeloids) - The protagonist accepts them as they are, regardless of the biological weapons that are for humanity. - The main girl escapes and begins to live with the prota. The other girls will be sent to assassinate her. - These girls were chained and forced to follow orders for fear of dying. - In both series exists the desire of the new world, which is related to the origin of the girls. Also they are important pieces in the evolution of the races. - We have the friend of childhood, who is jealous of the affection  read more

IO and Elfen Lied both deal with a main character who like kouta, suffers amnesia...he moves into a certain town and winds up living with a bunch of girls....a history of dead parents......there's alot of ecchi...and also the elements of incest and love triangles. falling in love with a girl while courting and taking care of another girl ...shibuki the jealous love interest like Yuka....mio like lucy a special girl with a stoic nature who the mc courts and takes care of..like kouta and nyu!.....

Elfen Lied is particularly similar to Kara no Kyoukai's "Tsuukaku Zanryuu/Remaining Sense of Pain" arc. Both this arc and Elfen Lied start with what seems to be a chick going crazy and killing people with what seems to be telekinetic abilities. From there the story progresses into the personal struggles and issues with these girls, whilst also investigating what happened to them in the past. If you like one for its investigative story and excessive level or gore and nudity you’ll be sure to like the other.

Since I have not finished the whole series. It may not be a perfect recommendation, but they have similarities. In both series they have bloody violence. They also have psychological moments (Though Elfen Lied has a mature feeling than Kimera). But I thoroughly enjoyed both series, especially since the heroines are awesome .

"Shoujo Null" draws thematic inspiration from "Elfen Lied," with Riaha mirroring Kouta's role and Marie embodying traits akin to Lucy. Both manga depict the bond between a human and a powerful, seemingly otherworldly female companion facing societal challenges. The parallel of Marie's darker side with Lucy's malevolent persona adds a compelling layer of similarity, threading the narrative with psychological complexity and exploring the consequences of their extraordinary abilities. Fans of "Elfen Lied" may find "Shoujo Null" to be a captivating journey through friendship, conflict, and the blurred lines between good and evil.

Both are science fiction/horror manga that focus rather heavily on the tense relationships between humanity and those who possess something that makes them somewhat not human.
reportRecommended by Karmatics
They both dwell in extremely dark themes in which the main characters are going through absolute hell for our other characters.

Depressive. Elfen Lied and Chainsaw Man both follow young people with immense power who have this depressive mood to them, due to not being respected as they should. Elfen Lied does this with Lucy wanting to live a good life but is being hunted down for what she is. CSM does this with Denji essentiality being a dog for Makima. Both are good action manga with both not holding back on the gore that comes to be from deadly fights.

Hear this recommendation out first. Elfen Lied and Crazy Food Truck both follow protagonists who end up getting partnered with one who has deep government official affairs, the duos in each manga continue to have their male MC hide these inhuman females from those pursuing them, making for plenty of intense moments in such a time. Crazy Food Truck is more action type and comedy type with its setting for it, Elfen Lied however being a dark and depressing feeling. Both manga is good at maintaining an intense atmosphere with their respective diverging genres. And yes, the ecchi is similar.

If i can recall correctly , elfen lied was one of my first horror mangas ever ( aside from HRI && Doubt ) , I begun it in around 2018~? && Darling in the franxx was my first mecha anime which i also got into a bit around 2019 , both hold a special place in my heart && both are incredibly similar && have a similar feel to one another despite being different ᵕᵕᵕᵕᵕᵕᵕᵕ୨♡︎୧ᵕᵕᵕᵕᵕᵕᵕᵕ First things first , main characters . Innocent victim. Elfen Lied And The Promised Neverland both feature young individuals who have seen the dark side of the world they situate in first hand. Elfen Lied does this with Lucy as she is to be hunted down for what she is. TPN is the same with the Grace Field Children to be farmed due to their place in this new chain of beings. Without going into too many spoilers, they both have an ironic situation to do with aid later on in the stories. Both are good manga with TPN being psychological in terms of mind games, Elfen Lied having a different psychological aspect with  read more

Dreaded. Elfen Lied and Akame ga Kill have a tendency for showing the most brutal fatalities manga has to offer. Apart from that they also have an overarching darkened atmosphere to convey the harsh reality of the world and how it destroys the dreams and desires of the young ones. Elfen Lied revolves around Lucy's past ultimately leading to her state of hating humanity's dark nature. Akame ga Kill is the same but it gives its MCs hatred towards how humanity runs things, in this case, tyranny. Both are good dark manga with Akame ga Kill being a dark fantasy full of action, in comparison to  read more

I wouldn't recommend the Kanojo manga due to it being terribly raunchy (please avoid this series) however if i may make a comparison to Elfen Lied, Chitose is like mild, non violent, tad happier version of flash back Lucy. like Lucy she's cold and unfriendly and brooding. both are cold and unfriendly for their respective reasons. Lucy due to trauma and abuse while the Chitose due to stress from having to balance her family being in a bad financial state+having a pregnant sister. like Lucy, Chitose is cold to the boy yet softens up eventually except lucy more than  read more

Dreadful reality. Elfen Lied and Attack on Titan both follow individuals who have to live the hard way with life gives to them, even if they never asked for it. All the more having one simple desire to strive for in the harsh nature of the world. With Elfen Lied being about Lucy and her upbringing, along with her split mind, with Kouta, as she is hunted down for who she is. AOT being more drastic with humanity being slain by titans, with Eren only wanting to have his freedom back. Both are good manga showing how hate within people can forever, whether it be by escaping  read more

If you liked Elfen Lied then you will probably enjoy Ibitsu. Be warned however, if you dislike the gore in Elfen Lied, Ibitsu is not only gore but also significantly unsettling as a manga.

Both mangas have to do with overpowered little girls hell bent on destroying humanity.

The main plot of the two mangas may not be the same, but Railgun's Sister's arc is very similar to Elfen Lied. While in Railgun clones are created, the same happens in Elfen Lied when people try to make clones that could be just like the original, capable of reproducing and giving birth to new "beings". Railgun's characters have abilities like teleport, generating electricity and Elfen Lied characters have hidden hands that can be used for killing.

Both about a near-human female demon who has to fight her own kind. Main characters both have amnesia and a split-personality which enables them to be adopted into a family. Main characters also lose their shit a couple times and kill regular humans for no reason.
reportRecommended by DrHouse
Both have blood, violence, nudity, girls with super powers, mediocre art, and animated adaptations.
reportRecommended by RenaPsychoKiller
Experiments, a race of blood thirsty super humans, drama, tragedy, gore, action, and strong fighting girls. Red Garden is definitely more refined and well-drawn than Elfen Lied, though.

Their drawing style is similar and they are both horror mangas.

Scheme: we see the struggle and the development of the relationship between the naive and unsuspecting guy and the iconic "girl on the run" in a supernatural ambient of sublime darkness, constant gore and riveting suspense that paves way to a very emotional and solemn story (albeit Elfen Lied requires a more unyielding stomach than Tsukihime). In any case, they give the same overall intrinsic feel that reminds one of the other.

Elfen Lied and Zero deals with dark themes that includes tragic pasts and experimentation. Both series' main male protagonist gets involved with dangerous circumstances that tests the limits of their skills. Similarly, the main female protagonist/anti-hero demonstrates special powers because of their origins. In addition, both series relates to a sort of cat-and-mouse game as government and other organizations are seeking their capture. Recommended for fans seeking a story of dark twists and mature context.

Both are very dark and have blood/gore and shows the mental change of a person due to outside forces.

Sankarea and Elfen Lied are really similar (the anime of Elfen Lied more than the manga though, since the manga is really unfocused) - a guy gets into a relationship with a girl with special powers who needs his care but sometimes get violent. Through out the story, lots of events coincide, and the dramaturgy is really similar. Both are even unnecessary ecchi... If you compare the Elfen lied anime and the Sankarea manga I think they are both are great, tightly woven shounen stories with a "seinen" depth, and I recommend them both just as much. I have found both Elfen Lied and Kasane to be very similar manga. Both of the mc's are seen as a freak of nature due to their deformities, and are both bullied as small children to the point of breaking. Kasane and Lucy each have their own powers, and use them to achieve their revenge. If you like Elfen Lied, you'll like Kasane, and vice versa - they each are beautifully drawn and give the same feel, and are fantasy-tragedy-romance.

Both series deal with main characters going through experments and losing humanity, although Elfen Lied is much more bloody and violent. Dawn Tsumetai Te deals with a virus called "nightshift" (very simlar to T-virus in Resident Evil) and the main characters' school life is greatly disturbed by it. Although the two series are not extremely similar, you will get similar impressions when readng them.

They both deal with themes of misanthropy and both are rather depressing to read. Bokurano, however, is better written and has better characters.

Elfen Lied and Shinazu no Ryouken portrays a story that has violence and tragedy. In their story, there's are individuals with a virus/disease that can potentially change the future of the world. Both series' main female protagonist gets involved with dangerous individuals in cat-and-mouse like game scenarios as they fight for what they believe in. There is experimentation, gore, and mature themes so be caution of what you'll be reading.

Young girls are put through brutal and inhumane circumstances leaving them psychologically damaged and emotionally repressed. Despite their suffering, they manage to retain their humanity. In Gunslinger Girl, the girls are trained to kill and obey. In Elfen Lied, killing is their response to the discrimination and incarceration they suffer under the label as a threat to all humanity.

If you're into the neuroticism and breaching sanity given through bits of Soul Eater and crave something more intense, Elfen Lied might be a good route.
