Well, I first read the manga, then I went directly to the webnovels and read everything available, and I must admit, I was quite hyped. For those thinking on starting it, let this be said: MC is OP, and so are his servants, yup, if you are expecting him to struggle, that will be kinda rare.

Think about it like in DBZ, how can he get even stronger? Well, he gets stronger, can he get even stronger? Yup, is he the strongest? The strongest demons, dragons and the Hero are still stronger, well, all important characters get kinda broken skills anyway... Think Predator and Great Sage ... are OP, pfff.

World rules:

As expected of the isekai genre, there are a few RPG typical rules here: Power boosted Master also power boosts servants, at the beginning, it almost feels like Pokemon in regards to species evolution, yet even with such a powerful "possible military force", MC is quite the peaceful guy who helps everyone and wants to build a country to laze around.

Another fact of this world is that summoned people are not really rare, there are many of them around, unlike Rimuru who was killed and ended up reincarnating, these summoned ones are actually intentionally summoned, so they remain human and everyone has their own unique skills and more powerful bodies compared to normal people, if you know Log Horizon, compare "Adventures" with "People of the Land" levels of difference.

Unique points:

As many stories have, there are usually some key characters that change the hero into something more noble, and the one here is quite touching, both in a happy and sad way, something I find very rare for stories of the isekai genre

I also found it to have a very unique way in expressing the sense of loyalty from the servants: Some are grateful for being helped by him and wants to be useful back, some feels like they would be discarding their own honor in submitting themselves, just to soon feeling admired and honored to be under him, even the ones that feels like they could go crazy anytime soon and rebel end up with quite a natural admiration towards him.

And while this is more about the webnovel, there are some really fast battles, thanks to the OP level of the many characters, even fights that would seem to drag on end up getting insta-finished simply because the enemy wasn't aware of the newer upgrades of MC's Servants, which is nice both for not having useless dragging out filler and skipping overall irrelevant battles, the reactions of both enemies and friends are quite nice too, reminded me of Mr Satan on Cell Games when he wasn't trying to explain and was just confused at everything.

He is usually also well prepared for battles, so if he knows the enemy special abilities, he will not take the wrong servants with him, this avoids the typical "You activated my trap card" of the enemy and dragging the battle more, though that can't be said for non-Rimuru battles


Overall, at first I compared it with Overlord, which I read the manga up until the Lizardmen arc as of now, and in comparison, I significantly prefer Rimuru's way of "conquering", which is done with humility, mutual understanding and some paranoic levels of security when compared to Momonga/Ainz, who wouldn't mind a massacre to let one of his "children" to grow...

So far I've read 26 chapters and my opinion is as follows: This seems to be a rather generic isekai, fantasy story.

The main hook of the story is the fact that the MC is reincarnated as a slime. Which is interesting for the first 10 or so chapters, but not so much after. Once the novelty of this idea is gone you are left with a middle of the road fantasy story. I mean it is entertaining while it lasts, I give it that, but it doesn't last that long. Moreover, sometimes they go a little overboard with how OP the main hero is, they ... don't do it often, but when they do, it is frankly ridiculous.The pace could improve a little too. I give props where it's due however, at least they didn't go for a harem, so we managed to avoid that genre trapping.

My biggest problem with the manga is the utter lack of interesting characters. The MC is as interesting as these overpowered, wish-fulfilling heroes go, fine, but I can not understand why the side characters are so bland. When I was trying to remember off the top of my head any notable side character I couldn't come up with anything. The Oni came to mind, but even in their case, I remember them more as a group rather than individuals. It's not that they are cliche, but that they are not even that, their characterization is almost non-existent. I was willing to give this a pass at the beginning because of the "I became a slime" thing was genuinely interesting, but as that started to run out of steam, it became more and more of an apparent problem.

I was strongly considering giving the manga an overall 5, due to its weak characters and lackluster plot, but since this was just the beginning of the story and it was consistently entertaining, I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, and a weaker 6. However, if the story doesn't give the characters some personality or pick up the pace significantly in the near future I will drop the manga.

The manga has the now common premise of the main character reincarnating in another world as a monster after dying. OK, so he becomes a slime monster. That's all fine and dandy, and it's all done quite well. The biggest problem is the OP skill he gains right off the bat with the Great Sage mode. Basically throughout the story he faces many "challenges" but generally speaking has a quite easy time dealing with them since he's pretty much the most powerful one around right off the bat. It's frankly much more fun to watch actual struggles instead of "minor struggle? ---> activate super cheat ... skill ---> struggle over". It doesn't necessarily make the series bad, but all the encounters could've been much more compelling and had a "sense of danger" in them if the balance of power between the MC and the rest of the world wasn't so out of whack.

- OP/cheat starter skill.. checked
- cool looking protagonist.. Hell no

Back then when I first read this manga, I think of this as weird, unusual way to tell another world story. I mean it's fuckin slime, we talk about here. It started funny, but after few chapters, I grew fond of that slime. Sure, the main character has OP skill right from the start, but he don't act all high and mighty, neither trying to look cool or abuse his power. So, instead of getting sick of it, I started to liking the slime.

The story itself started adventure-like when the world ... introduced to us. There are a lot of races of monsters he met, as well as human. What make this interesting is, how he is underestimated greatly at first but he keep prove them wrong. I really like that kind of character development. He venture, he learn, make allies, utilize his ability to the fullest. The plot thickens at some point, the real danger coming and then he is forced to make decisions and take responsibility.

Some of us, including me might think that the main character will stay strongest forever. But that's not the case at all. Soon the slime would realize that he can't rely on his skill only and use his own wit to solve the problems at hand. We could say, the operator is more important than the ability itself.

This manga is still ongoing (chapter 35 when I write this review), and I can tell that there are a lot more story to tell. Greatly recommended.

Just recently read this Manga until chapter 91. --SPOILERS--

In my opinion you can look at this Manga in 2 parts. The first half, until around 45, which is rather "boring" and the second half, where it picks up quite fast.

First, i wanna talk about the biggest problem i have with this manga, there are never any problems, in the whole story there is never anything at stake.

Orc Lord? Easily defeated, Rimuru just lets Great Sage take over.
Charybdis? "No Milim we will fight it ourselves", after 10 hours of fighting "oh yeah why don't you just kill it".
Commander of the Church will kill the MC? Luckily ... it was just a clone he made.
Many friends and Shion died? Their souls are still here, just become a demon lord and revive them.
Clayman is in control of Milim? No he isn't, they were fooling him from the start.
2 Charybdis appear?? Benimaru kills them instantly.
Apart from that the MC is best friends with literally two of the strongest beings in this world, Milim and Veldora.

As you can see i still gave the manga an 8 because this can be overlooked, but i would understand if this really gets on the nerves of some people.

Also the Manga is quite long, 91 chapters doesn't sound that much but there is a lot of text and the chapters sometimes span more than 60 pages. This isn't necessarily a bad thing although i am not a big fan of it.

My score comes to be because most of the manga is a mediocre 7, it is a good read but nothing more than that, until Rimurus Demon Lord transformation and Walpurgis begins, there are many chapters and panels that are actually amazing, so that bumps up the score accordingly.

Also there are many interesting charackters. I was a fan of Souei from the start and like Diablo a lot as well. My favorites are Milim and Ramiris, as their scenes are always really funny.

This is my first review, it isn't structured that well, i just wrote what came to my mind.

I feel this manga has a lot of potential with good power scaling,character developments and plot and is watching

Unlike your average isekai where your main mc is absurdly overpowred and beats every opponent with ease,Rimuru learns skills and put effort in training as well.Reasons are also provided for why he got so strong.

For example,how Rimuru got so strong was firstly due to Veldora 'naming' him at the start of the series.A dragon naming a slime would surely give him great strength.He then took the skills from other various creatures before leaving the cave.That was the reason why the goblins were afraid of him initially.

Throughout the series there is rapid chracter growth with good explanation to how they got stronger and victory was achieved not through strength alone but also due to the tactics and application of magic employed.Even the characters' state of mind and emotions affected the battle.

World building is also just as fantastic in this series as the characters interact with others from various countries.

The slow development of the city of Tempest is also something to look forward to and doesn't get boring as the feeling of reading the characters' hard work and effort to improve their city pay off.

All in all,good writing,good story,good plot.
It's a 10/10 for me.

This anime/Manga combo literally changed my viewpoint on enjoying a series.
For some reason this series really stuck with me.
I truly enjoyed the idea of a City/Civilization builder and LOVED the way power was bestowed.
(If anyone has reccs based on that hmu, ive been trying to keep my lists updated)

HOWEVER!
The story was heart wrenching at times and almost made me feel things were going to extremely bad.
But a Ruler of a new Civilization should be terrifingly strong.
The side-arcs were important and the author always made sure to give you a taste of everyones progress as well as the Main characters and the town didnt ... feel static. It was ever-constantly changing. Updating, Evolving. It was exciting to see what a carefree civilization with a fair ruler would/could look like (in a perfect magical world).

I heard a lot of the anime from Anitubers so i gave i try one day and i got completely hooked to the story,it follows the same formula for DrStone and the character dynamics is just great to watch on par with Konosuba for me the character interaction is fan service for me,with those characters the emotional scenes has more effect ,the mystery characters help build the world and some of them has more depth even if your familiar with them but even if the characters is well written but some of them arent flesh out like for Ex. Hakurou why is ... so strong and whats the history behind the Ogres that live in the Jura Forest well at least for the manga rn it has chp 77


so for the story:in the early parts of the series i admit some character are forgettable like the gpblin executives(the other goblin lords help Rigurd for maintaining the country)the story in the first half is a bit simple with a proper goal and slow,the GOOD stuff starts after the anime its honestly surprised me the tone of the story shift drastically to light hearted to dark very fast but after the arc the story became darker permanently story wise some parts is kinda cheezy like how some side characters seem unrealistic or their decision doesnt make sense

art wise for me when i watched the anime it got me hooked so i read the manga and end up catching up to it the art for me first looked weird and slightly different from the anime but now i think the manga is better than the anime some scenes are cut as well so i think reading the manga first is better

i just made this trashy review cuz i want to show how i love this series btw this is my first review i just enjoyed this series so much and i should really be reading the LN now cuz the manga is monthly and i cant wait the anime is also 45 days from now

This so far has been great.

Rimuru is not OP for no reason, and he isn't OP in the sense that everyone just dies before him. He learns skills and abilities and trains hard to become a strong warrior to be able to protect his village, and was given strength at the start due to the Dragon Veldora.

The story is entertaining, and it just feels good to read this. It really does. Time will tell how well this mange plays out, but so far it's great and worth the read.

The monsters seem to trust him, and power is relatively balanced between the monsters and other races, ... as well as the major characters in the manga. So he's not stand alone OP. He's powerful, but can be matched. He's also shown vulnerability to physical and extremely fast attacks despite his much greater magical power compared to the physical attackers in the manga. But he's not the most powerful magically either.

Can't wait for the new updates.

This manga is highly enjoyable and surprisingly well done. It´s a fast paced Isekai story that got back to the roots of this sub-genre and manages to avoid or tone down the trappings of many other fantasy animes.

I love the ever-growing cast of very likeable characters and the excellent worldbuilding so far and can only recommend it to everyone who likes fantasy adventures and don´t need unnecessary fanservice in every chapter.

The only negative things i could come up with would be that the premise could come off as generic at the very beginning and
that´s about it.


With that being said don´t let the premise turn ... you away from this manga, you could miss something good here.

Yes, this is another Isekai. No it's not unique whatsoever, it's just a power fantasy isekai with the protagonist reincarnated as a slime instead of a hero. Yet the best thing about Tensei Slime is that it's not trying to be different, but it's trying to improve the Isekai genre to the fullest with its detailed world building. The side characters are equally as important as the main ones and there are a lot of interactions between them. The focus is more about building a civilization than just battles, even the wars are for building or defending the country. Rimuru the protagonist is absolutely charming ... and adorable, but it's a shame that it has no gender.

I recommend reading the Light Novel too for more detailed world building.

CONTAIN A LITTLE BIT OF SPOILER

So I've been seeing comments about the main being too OP, its boring to watch OP character and others, etc. As a reader of the light novel, I'd like to assure you that the journey have not even start yet as of chp 47. I can assure you guys it wont be easy for rimuru(main), coz the villain is also not that easy, he's on par w/ our main ( SPOILER haha). Its true that currently the story is kinda boring with main OPness but I think right now is only the foundation for the next arc, and ... I truly hope you guys watch at least until the 100ish chp before further putting this anime as "Generic ISEKAI" if its what you guys want

yes Im biased, I know. but I truly feel that this story is interesting enough to not be put to the category of "general isekai stuff"

btw why I like this story :
- interesting plot of country making
- light hearted and not much dark story
- (*SPOILER*) interesting way that put 'otherworlders'
- we can actually see the growth of each character especially those who are close to our main later on
- I can see a lot of potential how this story can be developed, sadly not anymore for LN

what I dislike :
-start slow
-maybe a little too light hearted, too much fun or random moment(could be positive)
-not action focused, more world building rather than action
- Main at first seem too OP, and will still be OP. (but it is balanced, so its ok)
-because above reason, it can be boring, I just want to skip some part or arc

This manga is not like another isekai story, this like you playing games building a town and not only improving oneself but also the environment and the surrounding community. Many kingdoms in which there are various races, some are specific to one race. there are rulers from the race itself, some are not, such as slimes and demon lords.

When i watch the anime, i love it and i dont want to read the manga, beacuse maybe the anime better and i will drop in the middle if i read the manga. But i was wrong, the manga is more awesome than i thought. Many dialogue ... in the manga that not show up in the anime, the detail character and background, the expression of the character, the fight, the story, etc. Truelly makes me want to read it again and again.

Slimesekai.

It is a painfully average story.

That's it really. There's no factors in Slimesekai that you can't find done better somewhere else.

The only interesting facet of Slimesekai is the idea of reincarnating as a slime, and it's ruined within two chapters when the slime is A: not weak at the fuck all, B: not challenged by literally anything, and C: has no reason to even be a slime.

Ever played Terraria? Dragon Quest? Final Fantasy? Do you remember slimes being able to eat literally anything, absorb skills and attributes of those things, and just do generally unrealistic actions like shooting swords of water?

Yeah, that's not called ... a slime, that's called an unnecessarily OP protagonist in a shell that doesn't fit them. Hell, the story doesn't even manage to stick to the core concept of "This is a story about a slime" because within ten chapters our MC can now transform into a human form and (from what more I read) seems to vastly prefer that form.

Any tension that Slimesekai could have is immediately taken out of the equation by the absurdity that is 'eat literally anything', not to mention the fucking Chekhov's Dragon that Rimuru just has stuffed into his belly. Oh noes, not a legendary orc lord! Well, if anything goes badly just release one of the FOUR STRONGEST BEINGS IN THE WORLD.

Well that's any tension from battle out of the way. How about character tensions? Trouble with now being a slime? Your newly found Japanese friend dying in front of you? Goblins being your underlings? The fact that you just got reincarnated? Any kind of reactions to any of that?

Haha no. Rimuru's character can be boiled down to "audience insert/surrogate" and that's about it. Apart from a few asides about having weird hentai on his computer, or that he worked for a contracting company, Rimuru has literally no character traits. Just your basic "do nice things and be helpful" protagonist.

None of the other characters in the story have any interesting traits, and hell, the only one that I even thought to have been interesting is Veldora, who didn't show up for the 17 chapters I read. Shizue had promise, but then she died. There's no social tension, no interesting characters that don't immediately lose the facets that made them interesting.

Art is fine. Nothing outstanding, but it's better than a lot of other stories.

Plot? What plot? The entire story so far is just Rimuru reacting to things, and not in any especially interesting ways.

Overall, Slimesekai sucks, read a better isekai nerd.

Artstyle and character design are generic, forgettable at worst.

The only notable thing I like is a specific Orc's tanky armor much later in the story. It looked kinda cool~

I don't care for them because they're either:
- Rimuru fanatics
- friends/allies
- future friends/fanatics, before they get their asses handed to them
... - some evil character to be killed off
Only two, maybe three characters have grown. The rest remain static, especially Rimuru fanatics.
The MC is the most uninteresting of them all, as detailed below.

=Story=
"Weak" slime is actually god-like sums it up pretty well.

You've got all the typical bad traits of isekai trash:
- dead MC reincarnated into another world
- MC gets OP skills for no reason
- Powerup through eating
- MC breezes through all the problems that he encounters, no sweat!

I don't have a problem with reincarnation, but the rest...

==MC gets OP skills==
Getting all these skills through no effort, or just "randomly" by doing simple stuff isn't impressive at all. If not by chance, miraculously, he'll get a powerup that'll let him demolish his opponents, or get a resistance skill that makes him immune to stuff during a fight, or later in the story. No struggle equals no interesting story!

Not only is he the most powerful, but he also has a ton of skills! My eyes just glaze over whenever he suddenly learns a bunch of skills. No one's gonna bother remembering all of that anyway, at least until he pulls it out of his slimey ass later.

I wouldn't complain about this if there are limits to their abilities and/or if they struggled and took a long time to attain their power, but the problem is they usually have no limits nor a price to his powers whatsoever. Even if he was an absolute saint in his past life and he deserved being OP, it would still not make for an interesting story without the struggle.

Since it's part of his skill, let's also talk about the Great Sage. I loathe her existence. She's an exposition fairy that violates "show, don't tell", and most of his OP-ness is caused by her. Rimuru would be struggling a whole lot more and wouldn't have done some things if she didn't exist, but he would've been a better character as a result.

==Powerup through eating==
One of the most basic actions for survival apparently makes you OP as heck. If this isn't an indication of lazy writing next to becoming OP just because of existing, I don't know what is!

If it took a while to learn and get better at his skills, then great. The problem is he'll quickly if not instantly master them, and apparently, not even a friggin dragon is immune to his eating skill. All of this would make some sort of sense if he was a glutton in his past life, but he wasn't even that.

No stakes at all in this manga! He'll just learn a skill later that will win him the battle/war easily! But enough about him being OP combat-wise, what about other stuff?

Met a powerful character that could've killed him or destroyed his village? We're just friends, nothing to worry about!
Lording over a village, and later a country? Easy-peasy! It's not like a forest in a fantasy world is that dangerous!
Winning a war, and incorporating the losing side to his village/country? No bad blood nor food shortage problems whatsoever!
Some character being a jerk to Rimuru, or rightfully being cautious of such a god-like being? Eh, they'll worship the very air he breathes later!
Other powerful countries? 100% trust the god-like slime, and we're also friends! Enemy countries just get steamrolled.
That one horrible thing that happened that could've made the whole manga a lot more interesting? Lol, let's just literally rewrite the laws of reality and undo all that! Might as well make the MC and everyone in the country stronger too!
Let's summon some powerful demons, what could possibly go wrong? The answer is: nothing, because they're all absolutely obedient to him!

Problems are the spice that makes stories interesting, but there are no problems that he can't solve easily and swiftly.

I'm aware life is hard, but how can people root for someone that has everything handed to them? I did not enjoy reading this, and I'm merely reading this to get better as a writer cause you gotta read garbage too to avoid making the same mistakes. I would give this a 1, but I'm saving that for absolutely horrendous things.
