1 male lead in both series has a horrible past they must overcome. if like one you'll definitely like the other. 

Similar in the sense that both are more focused on psychological issues than super sexual ones (though CUT does have many graphic scenes). Both mangas include characters that are mentality scarred. However, I personally believe the uke's problems in IgsG are more aggravating. But, if you can get passed that, the manga's conclusion is truly magnificent (actually, both of them end pretty awesomely). 

Even though CUT is a yaoi and is more explicit than RUNNING ON EMPTY, both of these stories show how two people with troubled pasts are able to come together and, in a way, complete each other. Both sets of lovers help each other to find themselves. CUT feels darker than RUNNING ON EMPTY but both are sure to tug at ones heartstrings at least once during the plot.  

Characters have horrible pasts which continue to affect them. In CUT, both the uke and seme have such issues, while in T-kS it's only the uke. 

Both manga involve fairly dark themes. The ukes have a rough past (though in CUT both seme and uke have bad pasts).

We have two very young, and very broken boys, who find solace in the company of each other. While one is a survivor of physical abuse (which led him to become a loner), the other is a survivor of sexual abuse. And it's the latter who makes an effort to approach the former. 

This rec is for ch1 of Memai. Both stories are about two high school boys who run away, holding onto a secret that nobody else knows. Despite being BL, both stories are quite dark in nature and explore some deep issues. 

Although CUT is a yaoi manga and Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan is a straight one, these two mangas are quite similair. In both stories, two people with opposite problems meet and quite unintentionally help eachother through their problems, while they start to fall in love with eachother. However, if you read CUT first, Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan has unlike CUT a very sad ending, so keep that in mind if you would like to read it. 

Broke teens that hide their problems from everyone else end up changing after meeting each other. CUT is a lot darker, but both titles are angst stories with a happy ending.  

They both have characters with.... pasts? And issues/problems, I suppose. Basically, Peter Panda reminded me of CUT, but to tell you more would involve plot spoilers, so... read them!

A boy who is abandoned gets comforted and falls in love. They're both somewhat dark yet heartfelt manga that give the same feeling 

Both BL involve characters damaged in some way who find solace in each other. 

Those stories have several conecting points and it's not just bittersweet boys love. First thing is secrets, scars from the past, that made them who they are and somehow connect them so much that there is no need to ask. Feeling more important than words, desire to only be together, separation, pain, more questions... 

Both are stories where one of the protagonists indulges in a self destructive sexual behavior in order to forget pain. He ends up meeting another boy who slowly shows him a different path.  

A boy who is abandoned and abused by his family is comforted by another. They are both somewhat dark yet moving  

Both are rather dark angsty yaoi. Sakura Gari being the angstiest of the two.

both have characters who are hated by their mother and the main character helps them cope with it.. oh yea also both shounen-ai

Both have BL, in Nekrateholic there's this vampire who plays a game of tag with a dhampir. In cut the're these two guys, each have their own problems but along the way, they get to know each other and start hanging out. YOU MUST READ THEM BOTH !!! THE'RE REALLY GOOD !! xD
