Both are romantic shoujo one-shots setted at school about a girl that falls in love with a guy who is doing a sport. Ba-thump Ba-thump Diary is more drama.  

In shoujo manga, there's a usual archetype that the main character usually follows. However, in "Pochama ni" and "Shorty and Chubby Are In Love, So What?" we are presented a pair unique heroines. Mugi and Puniko are both overweight, as a result both don't think love is possible for them, making them feel self-conscious about themselves. But, despite that, both girls possess a sweet and gentle personality that attract a member of the opposite sex and they, eventually, gain more self confidence.
