I get the same feeling from both manga's, people ending up with "powers", and they have to fight each other to claim a title or a gift, art style's remind me of each other, though, they're different, characters are equal on several grounds.

Shaman King and The Law of Ueki deal with a lot of the same topics, like, how both main characters couldn't care less about everything, the fights and the tournaments, and even the same kind of discussions between characters

Both are fantasy Shonen Sunday manga where the protgonist is in a tournament that lasts most of the series.

Similarities include: a god/goddess who appoints the protagonist as his/her candidate; fights between deities involving candidates; the promise of a wish to be granted by the deity if the candidate wins.

they actually really similar to each other -Ueki is a light/happy manga and Deatte 5-byou is just a little bit darker of Ueki. similarities: -the characters gained unique abilities. -they both have battle/tournament. -MC gain team/trust of others.

The feel of it seems to match. Special Powers - Big Bad Guy. Difference is Sami is more mature while Ueki is more childish. Both are great! (^_^)/

Both manga's main character were ordinary teenager who gained special ability. But those ability wasn't without price, in which brought them to extraordinary competition .. with their life at the stake

In Shaman King, a boy discover that one if his classmates has a misteryous power, and then there's a torunament to chose the king of shamans. In Ueeki, a girldiscovers that one if her classmates has a misteryous power, and then there's a tournament to chose the new god. Similar main plot, about powers and a tournament, with a main treath to it. And the main protagonists have the same kind nature.

Darwin's Game is like the modern version of Ueki with alot of darker and gore.

The manga progresses on somewhat the same way, the character development is a bit faster in H&C, qua adulthood, but qua battle they're the same. The way characters get introduced, and the way everything works, really look alike.

Similarities include: over-the-top characters who have unique abilities; fights involving such characters; narratives that transpire mostly within a school setting.

In both, a god/goddess gives the protagonist abilities for use in combat. The difference however are the motives. Both titles feature a good deal of action and comedy, as well as mixing in some romance.

Both anime's deal with several of the same issues, tho', they're done completely different. Main characters both use long-distance attack in almost the same style, while most of the characters look a like, and the plot has some issues that are the same. Both are completely different, yet, they give off that same vibe.

Both manga's art are alike, while the main characters are almost identical ('cept for their IQ), the battle's bring the manga to a whole new level and the parts between the battle's (not so much in Zan) are a bit dramatic.

Both of these shounen titles feature characters with unique abilities which they use for combat. Action is mostly exagerrated and corny; particularly in regard to way fights are set up.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both shounen involving superpower and fight with srategies. Similar battle styles.
