I get the same feeling from both manga's, people ending up with "powers", and they have to fight each other to claim a title or a gift, art style's remind me of each other, though, they're different, characters are equal on several grounds.
1 - Children with epically pwning supernatural powers fighting each other.
2 - Teaming up; Mamodo and Bookowner, and Candidate and "that chosen junior high kid who then gains some special talents after being selected by the candidate"
3 - Battles and struggles to determine a worthy king (Gash's case, a King of the Mamodo World, and Ueki's case, King of the Celestial World hahaha ☺)
4 - Numerous vows to protect are made in both series...

- Both are non-human partnered with humans.
- Both are about friendship and to protect.
- Both are about fighting to become King(Gash Bell) or God (Law of Ueki).
Although for The Law of Ueki, it's only 1 side fights (the humans). Gash Bell is both the human and demon fight together.
Gash Bell is a much better series than Law of Ueki.
