They start with the same premise: a kid who has tenacity and innate talent for road bicycle racing starts as a beginner and learns about the sport, making rivals and teammates along the way. Yowamushi Pedal is much longer and with a larger cast, but they both have a similar feeling.

This is a manga about road biking. Yowamushi Pedal is set in a high school cycling club and tries. It features unique characters, including teammates and rivals. Shakariki! is about European bicycle racing. Both are interesting because of the races held in the works.

Mangas about sports Both main characters start as weaklings

Although their hobby/sports of interest are different, Yowamushi Pedal and Hajime no Ippo shares the concept of following dreams. The main protagonist starts off as an underdog but works his way up by earning the respect of others through their determination. There is intense competition present in both series that includes a variety of adversaries. Both series also combines great characterization and strategies to craft a credible story.

Both are manga where the main character start out as loners but soon discover bicycle racing in some form and at the same time gain friends. Both have a strong theme of competition.

Both main protagonists are friendless weaklings that are clearly bad at sports but happen to have a unique skill (running for one, pedaling for another) that they've managed to optain through their everyday lives. Both of them reluctantly join the sports club and are slowly but surely becoming stronger. Also, both series show us wide range of characters dealing with their own problems and cultivate the importance of teamwork.

The character designs, sometimes the shading and posing. Obviously two completely different sports, but somehow I feel like Blue Lock was somehow influenced by this, especially if you look at Ego. I'm pretty sure he's literally from Yowamushi Pedal.
