FINALLY a great yandere girl!!! don't let the first 2 chapters fool you into thinking that this is going to be some step dad-daughter slice of life , drama show cause this shit gets DARK pretty quickly. As of chapter 12.5 I rate it 8.5/10

The manga is about a man who marries this single mother who has a daughter in high school. The man is actually good moraled and acts as such. Not like your typical harem protagonist who is either super dumb, a total virgin or doesn't push a b**** off of him like the "morally correct MC" but instead gets cockblocked so he ... doesn't have to continue.

Having this kind of protag in this specific setting must be a dream for an anime fan. The daughter is a fantastic yandere too. She doesn't get physically violent and uses her brain to whatever fits the moment; crying, manuplating, and giving people that inoccent smile. She deserves a phd in acting.

Going to the art style of the manga its nothing special from other manga but there is one noticable thing in how the auother went about her yandere mode faces. Its not anything extreme and looks more like a teasing smug face that does deliver the moment without looking light hearted. The pages and panels are big so one chapter will end beore you know it. Read the first 12 chapters. PEAK

Coming into this, I expected nothing but a weird, sexual read that should be wiped off planet earth. However, colored me surprised because this is actually written decently well with a morally right mc.

There’s this initial introduction of sexualization for the daughter, but the manga treads on the line of creepiness, psychological, and horror that gets revealed in the later chapters. Oddly, the best of written characters appear in creepy mangas, because oh boy, this really does have well-fleshed out characters that make the plot more lively.

Apart from the characters and plot, the manga lacks some extra backstory that would cause this manga ... to be more immersive in the initial chapters. It’s still a quality read, though because of how morally questionable it becomes not in the way you think.

Good one so far. Leaving it at 7/10 until I see how the author approaches things from now on. As of the latest chapter, the nuclear deployment seems to have hit the plot and things WILL get spicy.

Everybody seems to focus on the spotlight unhinged character a.k.a. Touko (the daughter). However, the intriguing aspect of this series is that the psychological nature and overall creepiness go deeper (and spread wider) than her. It's a simple enough situation at a glance, yet there are so many mysterious parts of this clusterfuck formula.

The way side characters get involved in the main story is pretty decent too. No ... overly complicated bullshit, and plenty of unknown factors to their circumstances or motivations. What's left unspoken and undefined really keeps you on the edge, as everybody has a dark secret or two.

(Except our main dude, but let's see whether it lasts.)

I'm genuinely surprised by how well the author has constructed both atmosphere and narrative. It's miles ahead of the usual cheesiness or edgy approach I've seen with this kind of series.

I went into this with lowered expectations and was pleasantly surprised. There's a feeling of impending doom/dread quite often with 'Okaeri, Papa' and its chapters. Just the way it should be when it comes to psychological manga with a yandere cast in it.
