Now I won’t go out and say "The Hero Returns" is bad, but I also won’t say it’s one of the best manwhas of its genre. Simply put, I didn’t bookmark it because of how basic the story is, and I had no attachments towards any of the characters.
In the manwha, time skips are used; I personally love time skips but only when they are done right. Sadly, this manwha uses them at the wrong times and mostly for no reason. An author should only use a time skip when a clear setting, purpose, and character has been established but neither of the three happened.

The concept is quite unique and have a lot of potential (could be very deep like veteran comming back home but can't enjoy his past life because of war and trauma) Chapter 1 was good!
But the writing is very bad, too simple by moment and just dumb/inconsistent in general . There is a lot of gore scenes just for shock value I hope the webtoon characters don't react realistically when compared to Korean culture. I understand the families' anger when their son come back but (in case of the 2nd warrior) can't you talk more with them, explain the situation and gives them proof by ...

For better or worse, this is an exact page-for-page copy of Solo Leveling. Every panel is identical. Every text bubble is identical. 100% predictable start to finish. If you absolutely loved Solo Leveling then you will probably find this to be a cheap copy since it adds nothing to the formula.
The entire thing comes across as incredibly shallow. MC is as dull as a plank of wood. Every chapter is as fun as watching someones stat numbers increase. They couldn't even be bothered to write other characters for the MC to interact with. The "story" here is absurd and laughable without a single explanation ...

I complet the novel and its one of my favorites novels and i think its Very unique.
The world building its infinity better after some time, the Tower, trials, gods, fairy tails. ALL of that mixed Very well and The novel have one of The fews good ends that i read until today. The problem is that this isnt a story to make a manga, because the start is Very slow until they explore more the others worlds in the trials and looks too much generic in the beggining, takes time until he show emotions. So i dont know If i can recomend or not. |
