Now I won’t go out and say "The Hero Returns" is bad, but I also won’t say it’s one of the best manwhas of its genre. Simply put, I didn’t bookmark it because of how basic the story is, and I had no attachments towards any of the characters.

In the manwha, time skips are used; I personally love time skips but only when they are done right. Sadly, this manwha uses them at the wrong times and mostly for no reason. An author should only use a time skip when a clear setting, purpose, and character has been established but neither of the three happened. ... Instead, time skips were used to aid the mc’s progression, which is a doubled-edged sword: There is an overpowered main character but none of the effort the reader’s see.

Besides for the lack of conscious for power progression, I do find the protagonist quite pleasant/tolerable due to his nature: he doesn’t disregard the old owner’s situation nor is baseless heartless to people and judge them for their past. However, there are times when the mc is straight out incompetent/rash despite formerly being the strongest. Along with this, he doesn’t nurture/scout people who had a great figure in his previous life, but that would technically bring the story into a different direction, so I guess it’s not that big of a deal.

Either way, it’s another solo centered main character that gets overpowered one way or another. Wish they developed more of the side characters, but the author is trying to ride off the coattails of op solo mcs. If you are reading 10 or more manwhas like this, then carry on since you’ll forget about it until there’s a new chapter, but if you enjoy typical manwhas, you might like this.

I complet the novel and its one of my favorites novels and i think its Very unique.

The world building its infinity better after some time, the Tower, trials, gods, fairy tails. ALL of that mixed Very well and The novel have one of The fews good ends that i read until today.

The problem is that this isnt a story to make a manga, because the start is Very slow until they explore more the others worlds in the trials and looks too much generic in the beggining, takes time until he show emotions.

So i dont know If i can recomend or not.

The concept is quite unique and have a lot of potential (could be very deep like veteran comming back home but can't enjoy his past life because of war and trauma) Chapter 1 was good!

But the writing is very bad, too simple by moment and just dumb/inconsistent in general . There is a lot of gore scenes just for shock value
I hope the webtoon characters don't react realistically when compared to Korean culture. I understand the families' anger when their son come back but (in case of the 2nd warrior) can't you talk more with them, explain the situation and gives them proof by ... using a fraction of your power ?? It could be hard to accept on the moment but 2 days later try again instead of enslaving a whole island ?
The 3rd warrior stories was so dumb, make me drop the webtoons... I think the author started with the ending of the character in mind and try to build a story that create the present events, but it's forced. (why taking the boat ? why not jump in the water ? he could swin partly transformed ?? ) But the fight was the worst thing, so inconsistent...

The art style is meh... just a webtoon generic art style, it's ok but you can't be impressed by it and it will not be remember for it.

I enjoy the 1 chapter but after that, it's just bad in my opinion. I think those of isekai stories could like this one.

Miss potential, very sad...
