Similarities include: odd relationships which has been manifested by desire; male protagonists who are submissive to the female protagonist; and narratives that carry dark tones and aesthetics.

These two mature ecchi titles involve their protagonists, both male and female, in sexual situations other than intercourse between themselves.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both series place a heavy emphasis on masturbation and female domination (though in a more teasing manner). Surprisingly, there is depth in the plot of these two series.

I was amazed at how much the premise of these two mangas are alike. Both stories revolve around a guy who's pretty much under the complete control of a girl as far as sexual relationships go and their girl counterpart has no shame in exploiting it. Despite both being seinen, Sundome contain much more graphic, ecchi and smutty art than Mysterious Girlfriend.

Both stories feature a pair of highschool students who are brought into a strange relationship because of their fetishes. Although there's a lot of kinky stuff going on, neither go "all the way." Expect a lot of teasing and sexual frustration.

Both mangas envolve teenagers, feelings and sex exploration. Umibe is most focused on a message and has better characters while Sundome is more fun and dramatic otherwise.

Both set primarily around an Otaku club of sorts, both hilarious, but in completely different ways.

Authored by the same mangaka, not only do both these mature series feature similar artstyles and aesthetics, but they also share the author's fascination with relationships between a male masochist and a female sadist.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both manga feature a sexually forward heroine influencing a below average boy, dragging him along an ecchi journey. Sundome can be more extreme, while BGHK is much more lighthearted, but if you wished for heavier situations, definitely check Sundome out.

Both of these seinen serialisations feature the sexual encounters of the male lead and the female lead. Do note however that Sundome is more plot heavy and the sexual encounters serve to drive character development.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both revolve around couples who share a sadomasochist relationship.

The difference between Aki Sora and Sundome is actually more interesting to look at than the obvious similarities (like the weak MC who have different kinds of weird sexual relations). So what's interesting is how in Sundome, the sexual relationship and tension is actually strengthening the two main characters, and they grow while getting closer to each other. In Aki-Sora it's the complete opposite, the MC is thrown around like a sex toy while getting more and more desolate. Unfortunately this theme isn't really taken to its full potential due to all the annoying sex scenes full of hentai slang, but it still makes an  read more

Fragile characters with a dominant female and a submissive male winds up in a codependent relationship. Both stories are really well written, moving and totally really worth reading.

If you enjoy the serious vein in Sundome, Ai-Ren is another great one with a similar story, but with less fan service and nudity. Be prepared to be touched though, be very prepared.

+ Explicit romances about an odd couple of high schoolers progressively growing closer to one another + Timid guy and dominant girl + Mix of comedy and drama and good character development (especially in Sundome which is also psychological) + Have some more unique fetishes like peeing, outdoor sex, domination, etc. + Good art and character designs (though the guys in Sundome do look pretty strange) that's fairly unique and gets better as the story progresses - Take on Me is a hentai while Sundome is just barely not a hentai

Similarities: + The biggest similarity is that the main character is the biggest pushover, awkward guy who can never voice his opinion at all (even the strange comedic poses they make when embarrassed or having trouble voicing their opinions are very similar); in Sundome, the MC develops like crazy after a while and the MC in Big Noise looks like he will probably end up developing a lot (though after only 4 chapters it's a little tough to judge it) + Both guys are already part of a club, want the girl they like to join the club (works a lot better in Sundome than in Big  read more

Sadomasochistic male and female leads, with a rather twisted view on romance and life engage in lewd acts of romance, bordering on smut. Both manga focus on the main leads' interpersonal relationships and how they develop as people due to their romantic feelings for each other.

Sundome is Nana to Kaoru with a little more comedy and a little less tenderness. Both series deal with the mature aspects of an S&M relationship and how people connect with each other. Though Sundome is not for the faint of heart. But if you liked Nana to Kaoru then you should definitely check out Sundome.

As the series goes on you start to not like/understand the main characters actions. But still read it because it's like watching a car crash but there is a glimmering hope that this could get better and the main character could turn into "a normal person" whether they do or don't is debatable. *Both series are about psychology of relationship and if it's right to throw away your dignity for a girl (that may or not have deserved this much care). Both serieses possesses a main girl that just ruins the mc's life further, but the mc seems to enjoy this. *With a story that should  read more

The dialogue is very similar but this manga is much more ecchi and definitely not for everyone.

Both show the relationship between a low self-esteem maso male protagonist and a dom female main character. Content-wise, these are very similar and only have some differences on a thematic level. Also, Sundome is comedy-focused whereas Tsumi to Kai doesn't really have any comedy elements.

Made by the same author with both having very similar themes.

In both, there's a female love interest bully the protagonist, while the MC is awkward and not popular at all. The two female love interests are also two popular girls. There's also a good amount of fanservice (more explicite in Sundome) and lots of sexual teasing. So; While the atmospheres of the two manga are nothing alike, they still share similar tropes.

Both work with the sexual fetish things, thought from diferent perspectives. Cheers takes all the uniform's fetish possible (and has a lot of +18 content) while Sundome takes... well... every other fetish that is (And has less +18 material, but still has)

Characters are induced to both give in and hold back from their sexual desires.

These two mature ecchi manga involve the MC, both the male and female lead, where they do many ecchi things that doesn’t involve intercourse. and slowly they started to feel things. Both manga are very mature if by chance you like foreplay then this manga might be for you

The primary pairing in these two serialisations share a relationship embedded in BDSM principles.

These two serialisations follows a relationship embedded on BDSM and exhibitionism principles.

Both of these titles revolve around the sexual interactions of the male protagonist with a dominating female character.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
In a rather weird manner, both series explore mature interactions between a male and a female in a relationship that can be best described as "master and servant."
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both these serialisations feature male protagonists who are masochists and female protagonists who are sadists.

Asatte Dance and Sundome are racy erotic comedies about a manipulative young woman and the young man captivated by her allure. But while Asatte Dance's stressed college student Suekichi does his utmost to hold back his lust for the playful Aya, Sundome's social misfit Hideo readily submits to the somewhat sadistic Kurumi. In the end, though, both are equally powerless to resist their object of desire, and it's fascinating to watch the development of their unconvential relationships.

Both these ecchi titles feature male protagonists who are oftentimes submissive to the desires of the female protagonists.

while im only a few chapters in to 3D kanojo, it seems to have very similar character development to sundome. in both series you have a male lead who isnt used to normal social interactions and much less being flirted with. then a strange female lead that begins flirting with him and taking him out of his comfort zone.
reportRecommended by dchman
These two series both explore the sexual act of masturbation.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both of these two focus on the relationship of a weak boy and a not-so-weak girl, and both manga also deals with lots of drama and nudity, with occassional humor that mainly comes from the facial reactions. Sundome has more ecchi, while Ciguatera is more realistic.
reportRecommended by mwp
The main girl characters are the same, both aren't well endowed, and the boys are both taller than the girls. The guys are both at some point in the manga impotent.
reportRecommended by kitten1560
A rather odd relationship is developed between the two main characters in both series. It can be best described as one that features S&M (sadism and masochism) - though in the case of M, the two characters can be argued to be masochists even though the female projects a sadist persona.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Good twists with people who truly love each other. Both female characters have a hidden past that they need help getting through.
