Random Chat is one of those manhwa that seems to have no depth to it from the outside. When I first came across this story, the art looked weird and I honestly didn't have much of an expectation. However, the next 150 chapters that I read would blow me away.

Random chat is about the character growth of a bullied high school student, who starts off as a weak, low self-esteemed, pathetic loser. You would expect him to change quickly and become overpowered like many other protagonists, but MC's journey is one that is slow and filled with conflict. This bullied trope seems typical for a ... manhwa, but as the story progresses, the story of each side character gradually unfolds and demonstrates how trauma has impacted each of their lives. While I've seen many other readers that dislikes how slow character progression is in this manhwa, I believe that the slow character development is what makes this manhwa genius, because people in real life don't change easily. People don't gain true confidence easily and trauma can't be overcome without time and effort.

The story of this manhwa is one of the best I've ever read and I would give it a solid 9.5/10.
The art feels lacking but you will get used to it as this manhwa grows on you, 7/10.

This is one of my favorite stories.

It's about this boy that has an app that allows him to chat with a girl from his class without her knowing it's him and all the good and bad (mostly bad) things that come from it.

There are a lot of interesting themes being tackled, talked about, and explored in this series. Depression, stalking, obsession, entitlement, self-worth, misinformation, respect, pressure, and many more.

Each arc talks about themes regarding how people behave and think and each of them is handled super well.

The thing I like the most is how this isn't a story where the world is always on the ... main lead's side. When he messes up he gets called out on that and he has to deal with the consequences of his actions.

The cast of characters is great, allowing everyone to have a moment to shine and grow.

There are some problems like the artwork isn't that great and some of the villains overstay their welcome... But the stuff that's good more than makes up for the bad.

Highly recommend it.

Alright i have caught up to the mahnwa it seems that it has 2 more chapters to go (will update review after it has ended)

Ok let me get the facts
Storyline/plot : 4.75/10
Repetition of plot boring just boring ways to introduce new character a complete loop of stuff and an overall not so great plotline/story.However, the theme about getting over past trauma and relationships is quite well done.
... Themes covered in this story:
•Coping mechanisms to trauma
•Getting over the past
•Importance of self confidence and self love
•Forgiveness and moving forward
And finally responsibility for your actions

They are all great themes to cover and were executed some poorly and some brilliantly but it was annoying but at the same time slightly engaging

Characters: 8.5/10
They were all... I dont know hmm Relatable is the right word for it.
The part where this mahnwa stuck to me were the characters. I dont know why but i feel close to them probably cuz of my personal experiences as well
Each and every character got their chance to shine. + The character dynamics and development were quite engaging and fun to watch.

Wont speak much on it but it was inconsistent things were a little over the top and edgy the entire 1103 arc was kinda.. cringe ngl

Well all I'll say for now is that because of the protagonists development and the characters growth around him + portrayal for emotions really had me give this a solid 7->8
Also the other ratings are low so my overall should be low but thats how much i related to the characters and how they dealt with each of their situations and how every single one of them had their roles .

Relatability and message : 9.5/10

Its not the best thing in the planet out there I would say it would be a total waste of time for you to read it but. It stuck out to me differently. Maybe I was the target audience but i dont think so at the same time. But i really enjoyed it. It is something that had me totally invested and i can see why people absolutely hate this and there are people who absolutely love this work.

Target audience: people that went through self improvement and are age groups of 16-22. And have alot of patience for sh*t writing or loners who are looking to escape reality with media

It had me literally wanting it to drop it around 130-220 chapters several times ,i do not know why i stuck with it i usually would have dropped it. But yeah i really gritted it out till the end which kind of made it worth it 😭

Hoo boy, you need nerves of steel to stay with this show for a long run and it is not even certain whether what happens satisfies you.

This show has so much going on it is actually exhausting to read. Not only is it a show where everone is equally f-ed in the head, but even title misreads you and instead of solely focusing on drama or slice of life it heavily focuses on fighting as it's foundation... X D

Random Chat starts with typical cliche MC korean school guy that gets bullied, is mediocre at most aspects of his life, doesn't have many friends etc. ... Said guy decides to hop on an app in which he talks with strangers and coincidentally he connects with one of his girl classmate on which he has crush on, dictating future course of events.

Now throughout the show guy gets builled even more, he has some internal struggles, he meets various people, leading to him and environment about him chaning for the better, but at the end of the day this guy is so weird you can't really tell if he changed.

This guy's thinking process goes as following: *He does something* -> *He gets beat up* -> *He gets gamechanging flashback*->
-> *He gains some insight and he changes* -> *Someone tells him that he didn't really change* -> *He gets depressed* -> REPEAT

It is not like he doesn't change at all, sometimes he breaks out of cycle, but it is wrote as a really and I mean it REALLY long process, overwhelming with chapters that are boring as hell making it quite a struggle to bear with this guy's reasoning at some point.

There isn't really that much to talk about art, it is mediocre at best.

Shortly. This show's main point is how people don't change that easily, but with pace of this show you feel like they don't change at all. MC's behavior is frustrating, it introduces unnecesarry, bland fighting trope, it isn't eye-catching and you will most likely forget about it after a week.
In one sentence: It is not terrible but it's boring as shit regardless

If you have something better to read, I don't really think you will miss out too much skipping this show.
