People come and go, but their memories stay with us, and it's our duty to keep them alive.

It's one thing to have a masterpiece under your belt at any age. It's another thing to have multiple, and it's ANOTHER thing to have four of them back to back before you've even hit 30. I may be biased, but I really do think that Fujimoto-sensei has already set the gold standard for mangaka moving forward, and this oneshot is the perfect guide on how he does it.

What I assumed was just Fujimoto talking about a dead relative turned into a story showcasing his obvious love of ...

We got another Fujimoto one shot and there are still no news on Chainsaw Man Part 2, but I don't even care. This man does everything good.

The following review will be me fanboying Fujimoto. And it will contain a bit of spoilers.

Goodbye Eri. 10/10 imo

You read the tittle and think it would be a cliché one shot when one of the characters die, and you would be right. At least for the first 100 pages. But when you read halfway through, story changes a bit. Now you don't know if something is happening or just acting, it honestly blew and fascinated me. As well the ...

Very very interesting. A complete 1/10 and a 10/10 at the same time so I'll balance it out and leave it with a 9/10.

Fujimoto got so meta with this one that it stopped amusing or really interesting me halfway through. Still I think it contains many great stories within, it's almost like an anthology where you can pick your favorite "movie" out of this one-shot and analyze it on your own and give it an individual review or score.

The panelling was simple yet bright assimilating a camera most of the time if not all depending on the perspective you choose to view. My ...

Goodbye, Eri is a tale of loss, presented brilliantly by Fujimoto. The synopsis is nothing which would attract your attention but once you start reading it, you know this one shot is going to leave an impression for quite some time. To be honest, I didn't think I'd enjoy it the way I did. It seemed like a cliche with the death of the mother and an inspiring friend/love interest, but boy was I wrong!

At first, the explosion we saw after the mother's death was quite shocking and I couldn't tell it apart from reality until it was stated. In my opinion, it's like Yuuta ...

Fujimoto-senpai does it again. But this time in a one-shot dealing with love and loss. Told through the narrative of a young filmmaker coming to terms with trauma and death. A must read if you are a fan of Fujimoto-senpai's art style or storytelling. The story will leave you feeling empty yet satisfied, an emotional tour de force that explores the intricacies of grief, loss, coping, love, and more. You will likely feel like you know where the story is going, but only as Fujimoto-senpai can, the author twists the plot to medium breaking proportions, writing in a style closer to movie storyboards than manga ...

((SPOILERS))

I really liked this one shot it was very well written and although it was short it was still a really lovely read I like how Yuta was able to help his Farther and Eris friend remember them fondly even with their faults. Was not expecting the little twist at the end really cool.

It was extremely interesting that most the manga was like it was being shot out the camera lens it really did give a movie vibe with how he presented the story

The art was really nice as always from Fujimoto I love his style and writing style.

Tatsuki Fujimoto really created a one-shot manga about how the way we tell stories can never impart the whole truth but it can still create beauty and bring catharsis precisely because of that, how those stories can both hurt and help those who tell them, those who hear them, and those the stories are about, about how embellishing those stories is necessary for us to find closure with them.

Sayonara Eri is a tale of loss. The synopsis is not something that would attract your attention if you're not into Drama but once you start reading it, you know this one shot is going to leave ...

Fujimoto solidifies his place as my favorite manga artist with 'Goodbye Eri.' The story is a thrilling rollercoaster, and I love how Fujimoto uses unique angles to make it feel like a movie. He doesn't waste time on filler, swiftly moving the plot forward. His characters are real and relatable, showing the complexities of love. The non-linear storytelling, where the plot twists alongside the main character, is brilliant. 'Goodbye Eri' raises important questions about the line between enjoying fiction and using it to escape. Fujimoto's manga, including this one, beautifully explores the significance of stories in our lives. And, of course, it wouldn't be ...

This is a great example of a well written short story. It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, while creatively showing how people can mourn differently, and how hard it is to process someone just not being there anymore.

Honestly, I'm shocked by the bad reviews, it just seems like all the brilliant showcases of how people process different emotions just flew over their heads. There's tons of very deep and important life lessons to be found in this short story, and Id rather not spoil it for anyone, so all I'm gonna say is - it's fun, it's emotional, it's FILLED with absurdist wisdom ...

Compare this manga to previous one-shots by Fujimoto (Look Back, Nayuta of the Prophecy, ...) and and you'll find out it's the most developed one. I think a good story (in all mediums) needs to work on two things: cohesion and density.

Yuuta in the beginning of the story and Yuuta in the end of the story, Eri in the beginning of the story and Eri in the end of the story, both journeys make a full circle. They are the same characters we knew from the beginning but at the same time, they're brand new. You can say they are back where they started, but ...

Fiction doesn't have to be real to be impactful. Reality is stranger, crueller than fiction. Fujimoto’s blurring the lines of the two tells us to treat both like the other, to jovially accept the bullshittery in real life as if we are living in a play. But also experiencing the dramatic tragedy in fiction as if they were real. Therefore we learn, experience and live life in both worlds, but face the horrors of life with absurdist acceptance.

Similar to Fujimoto's last one shot, Look Back. This work is once again, a love letter to the creatives out there. Fujimoto lays out his genuine, personal concerns ...

Give me this and a laptop/typewriter on a desert island and I will have a full dissertation praising the absolute powerhouse that is Fujimoto-san and his portfolio, because MAN does he have range. Well-deserved praise aside Sayonara Eri/Goodbye Eri is another one-shot from the mind of Tatsuki Fujimoto. Coming fresh off the heels of his other works Look Back and (of course) Chainsaw Man, Goodbye Eri follows the story of amateur filmmaker Yuta shortly after the passing of his mother, and how the trajectory of his life becomes forever changed upon a chance encounter with a mysterious schoolgirl named Eri. Pardon my vagueness as this ...

Goodbye, Eri’s story is just average. It isn’t bad, but it just isn’t good per se. At a certain point, the story looked like it had reached its climax, with a sudden twist of faith that would have been great if it had actually been true. Instead, the story ended in a less fashionable manner. This story is a one-shot, and ...

Fiction can have a significant impact without being tied to reality.

The author highlights the strangeness of real life and the importance of accepting its absurdities, while also encouraging the immersion in fictional tragedies. The discussion then shifts to Fujimoto's work, which serves as a heartfelt tribute to creators, addressing their common struggles and combining them with captivating storytelling.

The manga explores dark and philosophical themes with honesty and irony, allowing for open discussions and the exploration of different perspectives. By incorporating personal elements into the story, the author enables a broader audience to engage with profound messages without compromising artistic integrity.

I cannot not read Fujimoto's work. ...

Goodbye, Eri is a captivating and multifaceted manga that enthralls its readers with unexpected twists and turns. It masterfully weaves a narrative around death, employing it as a driving motive that takes us on an exhilarating journey. Yet, as we delve deeper into its intricacies, we find ourselves exploring inception-like realms of reality, where distinguishing between what's real and what isn't becomes an engrossing guessing game.

Romantic elements tinge the story, but they are far from easily definable. Instead, they weave an enigmatic tapestry that leaves us pondering the complexities of love and its many facets. And just when we think we've grasped the essence of ...

Ok so a complete honest review no fanboying no nothing-
Ok i found this manga from a manga animation i kinda did get spoiled but i decided whatever ill just read it. This oneshot Just got me soo attached to the characters, I cried in the end of this manga which is not possible if it was some random guys mom died and shit, No no this mf Tatsumaki fujimoto... He literally just made me attached to these characters like i was with them for years in just a single volume. How can bro do that? The characters are all interesting and heart shattering , especially ...

Even though this was recommended by my friend, I marinate it for months because I thought that it’s impossible to be completed without a chapter. I figured out it is a oneshot.

My opinion? It was a ride of plot twists. There’s some panels with no bubble chats in it — and somehow I can feel the awkward silence between characters.

For a oneshot, the artstyle is decent. I won’t judge the characters since it’s a oneshot & their backstory isn’t told. I can’t pity/praise any of them.

If you like a short manga with pot twists more than your body count, I recommend this to you.

There's a lot you can say with words, but you can say even more with pictures.

"Goodbye, Eri" is a new One-Shot by Tatasuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man. And my I just say, "Wow". It Truly is a spectacle to behold. And if there is one word to describe it, It's "Real". Fujimoto really does have a way with storytelling from his art to his Dialogue and his characters.

Sayonara, Eri is a story simply about movies. And how movies can tell and share stories that change people and the way those people view others. Movies can change the way you look at ...

This is a masterful usage of the manga format, having nearly all pages being formatted in the same way to simulate a film is genius and adds to the authenticity of the story.

The story in short is about Yuta who gets a camera and starts making movies. He makes movies about how his mom dies and later makes a movie about Eri.
But the thing that truly elevates to me is the fact that you can't interpret it in so many ways, you can see the whole manga as just 1 long film or you could see some of the stuff as being real and you ...

Fujimoto did a second drop for the people who were waiting for Chainsaw Man Part 2 at that time and we were there for it! It was a treat to get another volume-long one-shot, which is the second time in my life I’ve seen something like this from the same author.

This one-shot is inspired more from movies than the rest, as you can see from the world building and the paneling itself.

The theme itself is related to movies as recording videos is a big part of the plot. No manga passes by without Fujimoto showing us his love for cinema.

The story impresses with great characters ...
