Weekly Shonen Magazine has a heater on its hands, really, this manga is absolute gas.
Coming from the successor to genius mangaka Atsushi Ohkubo, Gachi Akuta bashes its way into Weekly Shonen Magazine's pages, with its incredible world building, loveable characters, and insane potential.
The story (or the 6 chapters of story that we get so far) is great. The premise is unique enough with a world based in trash and filth. It makes for a very grimy aesthetic that I honestly really enjoy. Soul Eater and Fire Force make clear their influence, along with other series like The Promised Neverland. The narrative is very

Okay so Gachiakuta is a newly released weekly manga that I started reading from the release of the very first chapter. So far (7th march 2022) there are only 3 chapters of it total. Not much content has been released so I won't be able to review it in the best way but nevertheless, here it is:-
Gachiakuta is a shonen manga that really has a unique concept. It's literally about "Trash and Garbage". The protagonist's name is Rudo and he seem to be really poor and barely makes up with his daily needs to survive. Rudo is pretty much outcasted by most of people and ... Jul 26, 2023
This is my first review I have written after lurking on this site for almost 10 years, so if it's not formatted correctly or whatever, oh well. I figured this manga deserved a review, so I'll give you my thoughts.
~Story 8 ~Character 8 ~Art 9 ~Overall enjoyment 9 First starting with the story. This manga isn't unique, or really ground breaking in it's story. But the thing is, it doesn't have to be. Depending on how it is executed and developed as it progresses, it could be pretty generic but still good. A good example would be Jujustu Kaisen, it's a good series even though practically everything ... Aug 1, 2023

Gachiakuta is one of the best manga serializing right now and you should start reading it immediately! I am not saying this lightly. Yes, this manga about trash is one of the biggest gems coming out these day! This series is truly something special and I will now spend the next lengthy segment gushing about how good it is. TL:DR this is one of the most creative, original, engaging and just outright FUN battle shonen ever!
Right, where do I even start? I guess the art seems like the most natural place. When you start Gachiakuta, merely a few pages in you will immediately notice something ... Mar 12, 2024
Synopsis:
Our story opens with the protagonist (Rudo) rifling through the trash to save anything that he deems useful or valuable. The world Rudo lives in is a class-based society divided between the haves (wealthy townspeople) and the have-nots (those in the slums). This stark division has come to be accepted in this world because legends state that the have-nots were originally criminals. In this world, it is easy to be cast out of society as a criminal due to the strict regulations governing every aspect of life, this would include trash (in this world, it is illegal to recycle anything deemed as trash). Rudo regularly ... Sep 17, 2022
This is the real treasure right here.
Once in a while, a "treasure" comes along in the stardust valley of trash repetition isekai, successive seasonals, and interesting new takes on the industry's style over substance meter that continues to ebb and flow ever since sliced bread became mechanized and bleeding. Needless to say, the last time I felt this excited for a true battle shounen was my first time reading JJK when it had fewer than 50 chapters back in 2018; to stumble upon something so new, so wholly true to the form, and stealing all the best from its predecessors. We all saw how BIG it ... Jan 12, 2023
This manga is a hit. I started it on a total whim when I heard about it, but it blew my expectations out of the water. The art is really fun and weird, I'm a fan of the sort of weird graffiti-esque style. The plot wasn't anything super special at first, but it quickly gets more interesting. The power system is genuinely cool. Without spoiling too much, it revolves around how much a person values an item. The main character's power is really really fun, and I'm curious about where the mysteries around it go. There have been some more mature themes in later parts

As someone who has been following Gachiakuta's serialization since its release, I confidently vouch that this manga is at the starting line for a race toward massive success. At just under 60 chapters currently, it has left me awestruck each and every time with its explosive visuals and world-building. Kei Urana has laid the foundation for an impactful story about classism and the intrinsic value of everyday items. Her time working on the team for Fire Force has surely impacted her choices in Gachiakuta, and they have only uplifted the manga's style. The characters are stylized and mysterious, the world is diverse enough to draw

FIRST CHAPTER REVIEW (no spoilers)
I've been following the author's art for a while so it was awesome to find out he was getting published. I was hopeful and he did not disappoint. The art is awesome - outrageously stylish like a medley of Atsushi Ohkubo (who he was assistant to), Akihito Tsukushi (made in abyss), and Demizu Posuka (Promised Neverland) contrasting bouncy gestural figures with clean bold geometric hatching. The line art is especially beautiful, creating textural yet ordered motion where other manga would use screen tones or messy hatching - gives everything a distinctive and hypnotic pattern. It's some of the best art in Shonen The ... Nov 2, 2024
Read Gachiakuta. That's my review.
Okay, MAL won't allow me to leave it at that because of the "character limit," so I will say this: Gachiakuta is one of the best new-gen manga out right now. If you're a fan of Soul Eater and Fire Force, Kei Urana was an assistant for Atsushi Ohkubo and has brought a fresh take to the shonen genre. Without giving too much away, Gachiakuta tells the story of Rudo, a kid from the slums of the Sphere with a penchant for trash collecting. When his adoptive father is murdered, Rudo is accused and sentenced to the "pit," a deep ... Mar 11, 2022
Gachiakuta is going to be big.
From these first few chapters we already see how this shonen revenge story is developing with Rudo our main character in the Abyss. I think that Gachiakuta will be a big hit once the first ark or the manga itself are complete because of its amazing art and promising setting/characters. I might be bias but personally i find revenge stories where the characters go through lots of troubles some of the most exciting works, it's like they pull you into the story itself because it's so interesting and i find the twists and themes of the slums and Rudo's reputation very fresh. ... My First Review
No Spoilers! We see Rudo, who lives in the suburbs because his mother and father are murderers. He earns his living from the garbage in the city. He lives with his stepfather, Regto. I read the first chapter and liked it. The illustrations look like Enen no Shouboutai. I especially liked the atmosphere and environmental design of the series. ... Dec 10, 2024
Gachiakuta is a story surrounding the main character Rudo. The power system is very unique and is about the idea of 'trash/garbage' and a human connection to it. (Essentially imbuing life into an item special to you). While there are other factors of it, that's the plain and simple explanation.
In the beginning, the story seemed to be progressing very slowly, but once you get introduced to the majority of the cast the plot sparks with life. The cast of characters is broad and each brings their own charm to the overall story. In the main group, each character has a basic value they showcase early ... Jun 13, 2024
How will I start this hmmm
This manga is actually super fresh in many things while having a lot of inspiration for like Bleach , Soul Eater and other major mangas . The story is good with a lot of mystery behind , the fight scenes are really good with good choreography . The artwork is probably in my top 5 mangas , and since it is first manga its really amazing . Even the cast around the main character is well balance with "unique" personality , the commedy is decent but not insane . Even the antagonist forces that we saw until now ( Chapter 100 for now ... Gachiakuta is a manga with a very strong concept: a boy falls from the heavens into a land of trash which has this organization called the "Janitors" working to protect and clean the "trash" which are the monsters of this area.
Its art is extremely pretty (in a ragtag way) and very atmospheric, the author really sets the aesthetic from the first chapter and it continues from then on. The fact that they have an actual graffiti artist to draw the background art (which is full of graffiti) adds such vibrance to the panels and really adds to that "backalley" and rougish feel of the world. ... Gachiakuta is not something to write home about just yet, but it’s apparent that it has great potential, Seven chapters are out as of now and as this author’s first published manga I must say I was impressed by it. The art is amazing and one of my favorite art styles from the new gene mangas. Obviously story wise there isn’t much to talk about as there is only seven chapters out as I’m writing this so I won’t judge it from that standpoint, but Rudo’s ability is cool and I can’t wait to get introduced to more characters and abilities and weapons. The Janitors

7 for me i like gachiakuta but i feel like its just mehh idk how to say it but yea
the art is very very good i love it! The story is so unique very original and i like how its running and what going on so far. Worldbuilding in this manga is insane i love how uruna make something and think something like this and the character design all i can say is sheesh Okubo really said uruna is a prodigy and a successor and he was right People really are garbage outside and inside they throw anything even theres only small damage they too lazy to fix ... I'm going to tell you not show you the Manga, almost impossible to feel immersion in a story that has no subtlety or nuance. You will feel like the characters are talking outside the 4th wall to you, not to their respective cast
100+ chapters and I feel no closer to the world or characters Some of the art can be really cool but most of the time it's wayyy too visually noisy to read specific scenes or movements properly And the characters are overtly wacky with caricatured emotions over and over, how many times do we have to see a manic 'This character is not ... I heard about Gachiakuta because apparently Urana Kei was an assistant on Fire Force. This leaves Gachiakuta with big devils footprints to fill. Thankfully it lives up to the standard of Ookubos works.
The first 3 chapters are the strongest point of the manga. Right after Rudo is dropped into the abyss countless questions will rush through your head. Questions that will not be answered immediately, rather rudo first has to join a group and learn the combat system in and out. Obviously. Here the artwork of the manga really shines. Overtly stylized character designs rendered to be as ugly and unrecognizable as humanly possible. Despite ... |
