This manga was my first real experience reading a mainly romance story so maybe my thoughts on the series might be a little different from others but have read others since. I heard about it online through social media and also saw it was really popular on some manga websites so I gave it a shot and was definitely not disappointed. If you are on the edge about reading it I would 100% say that it lives up to the hype.
Firstly I would say that the art is just fantastic in this manga. It has really gotten better over time but was still great in
...
the beginning. Some scenes just feel so dynamic and it really helps to highlight some of this series great character moments. I'd also say that the designs of the main cast are great. They aren't to similar to each other and each has a unique distinct look.
The story in the beginning is all about the super wholesome romance between the ML and FL but overtime the manga starts to get more into the side-cast which is where I feel it really excels. Id say the first 30-40 chapters are all about the romance. Its super wholesome and adorable and some moments will make you cry. Its a peak romance story told within these first chapters and really explores a great and interesting connection between two people. But after that we get a deeper exploration into the other characters whilst also still getting great moments from the main couple.
What separates this manga from other romances I've seen after first reading this is that the characters feel so much more like real people. Yes sometimes they apologize way too much which is a big critique of this manga I've seen but I don't think it takes away from the characters and moments (It sometimes adds to the realism in the story at least for me but also can be a bit much too others). They actually work through issues with each other rather than having to wait for a bunch of chapters or episodes like in other series. There is conflict and drama but it feels so much more based in a persons real lived experience rather than through normal animanga tropes and conventions. This is the main thing that made me really connect with the series and kept me reading.
The side-cast also really shines and are so loveable unlike other romance stories where they don't get too many moments. There are whole arcs dedicated to certain characters. What motivates them, their goals and dreams, there personality and the dynamics with the other cast really stand out. But these moments don't take away from the romance but rather give moments that help the couple grow as well. There is also a side couple developing currently in the manga who are just great. Honestly I'm starting to enjoy the side couple more but that's just my opinion.
There are so many great moments in this story whether they would be adorable and wholesome moments, dramatic and tense moments or even sometimes a bit of comedy. It gives a little bit of everything for any kind of reader.
Overall I would say why I fell in love with this story and the main reasons other people should read are
- The great art and art style
- The great romance between the ML and FL
- The story feeling more realistic and grounded compared to other works in the genre (at least to me)
- Amazing side-cast who actually get explored to a deeper level
- So many memorable moments which I feel will impact you as much as they did me. Whether your crying either out of sadness or joy, laughing or just your just plain happy. This manga is an emotional rollercoaster
Its also getting an anime in 2025 which I'm super excited about and so far from the teaser it looks like it will live up to its manga counterpart.

I really enjoy anime which try and explore the usual genre conventions/tropes of the medium. Romantic Killer does this in a way to shoujo/romance anime but mainly try's to parody and satire dating sim games. Overall I found this anime really funny and wish there was more of it.
First off I would say that the animation and character designs were really good. In general I like when shows use animation for comedic effect (eg Bocchi the Rock). This is also done somewhat in Romantic Killer which I really enjoyed. Also just the general animation was super smooth and looked pretty good. Not groundbreaking but great
...
for a modern anime. The characters were also well done for example the MC Anzu just had a great design which really conveyed her character. As well as the designs of the supposed love interests for her.
I would say that the comedy in this series was great. A lot of funny moments which play off of the usual conventions of the things it try's to parody. If you haven't seen any anime or dating sim games before it might be a bit difficult to understand or you wont get it. But at least for me who has a somewhat understanding of these things its very funny. Also just in general the normal jokes are great. Some people don't like the kind of comedy usually seen in anime due to it being for a Japanese audience. But I think this show also has some moments which better appeal to a non-Japanese audience.
I also really enjoyed the story conveyed through the anime. The first episode was just great and really defined the concept of the show for me. A first episode for any series is supposed to be a pitch for the audience to continue and this series make me want to keep watching through the unique plot, comedy and overall good animation. I think that each episode is great and gives a unique view on Anzu's situation as well as exploring the development of the love interests/side characters.
I would say my only problem with this show might be the ending. I loved the final part of the last episode as it showed the audience the message of this series. But I think that the final little arc could have maybe needed another episode to really flesh it out. I don't think that this series needs a season 2 as Anzu's story is pretty much done with great effect. However I could see this being a kind of anthology series almost exploring different main characters and love interest in each season which would be great if Netflix and the original creator would want to continue.
My final thoughts on this show were that it was a funny, romcom with a unique plot that really explored everything that the situation had to offer. It didn't overstay its welcome like other romance/romcom shows and was really well paced. My one criticism might be the ending as well as maybe having more time with the main love interests but overall I thought that the show was great.

Gachiakuta is one of my favorite on-going manga right now with I think the most interesting world and power system out of any new gen Shonen manga. The idea of turning trash into something more and something meaningful to you fits perfectly with the story's themes and with the MC Rudo. The power-system and world-buildings is what really got me invested into the manga but there are so many great aspects.
First of all this manga has the best art and art style out of anything that I have seen releasing right now. I'm not an expert on manga art but this series just looks amazing.
...
The art style definitely has improved over its run but has been great since the beginning. There is so much detail in each panel its crazy. During action scenes that characters just pop out of the page. Even just when the characters are talking or making facial expressions the amount of work put into it is amazing. I love the character designs and overall look of this world. With the general cleaner uniform/vibe being super fun and interesting. Also the villain group looks amazing as well (Zodyl and Jabber just look great in every appearance).
The world of this story is amazing and so unique. It is unlike anything else I have seen before. How the sphere impacts the world around it is actually shown and makes the mystery surrounding it ten times more interesting as it has a great impact on this world. Also how each area and town look so different is great. It isn't just like a dystopian desert type setting but rather the worlds ecosystems and climate has shifted due to the trash falling on the ground. The world-building is also great as over the story's run we are getting introduced to more and more. For example through the introduction of the artworks in canvas town was a great reveal for some lore. The series just introduces new concepts in a great way it doesn't feel forced into the story just for the sake of it.
The characters in this story are also great. Rudo is a good MC at least to me. He might not have the most depth but he gives a great lens through which to explore this world. He also has a great backstory/trauma which still affects him and gives interesting ways to explore his character, motivation and goals. I also think the rest of the cleaners are great as a lot of them have had moments where there backstory is expanded on and they get moments to shine (Follo, Zanka and others). Unlike other manga which sometimes take forever to give us backstory's on side characters. The villains are also great and each one has a unique characterization making sure they don't all just feel the same like other Shonen manga do.
The writing is some of the best in Shonen right now as the authors exploration into the main concept/symbol of this series which is of course trash both literally and symbolically. You might think its dumb at first but its deeply explored and different for each character. How the gifters use there treasures, Rudo's whole ability and backstory and even more explore this concept fully. You might start off thinking its just a normal revenge story but it really isn't as it greatly explores themes such as found-family, personal growth, class inequality and so much more.
The mangaka Kei Urana was an assistant for Atsushi Ohkubo who has made two of the most popular series in the 21st century in Soul Eater and Fire Force. Gachiakuta really feels like a spiritual successor to both of these series. If you enjoyed those you will definitely like this. Its also getting an anime in 2025 which I cant wait for and I hope that the people working on it do justice the great art, story and world.
To just say some final thoughts on why you should pick up Gachiakuta and read it. The art is just outstanding in so many ways. The ideas and concepts which fill this world are so wholly unique to this series and nothing like I've seen before. There is great character writing and the author gets to explore some really interesting ideas. The vibe of this whole series is just so unique that I couldnt stop myself from reading it. If you have the time and are looking for a new and unique world like nothing you have read before then definitely read Gachiakuta.

This first season of the show felt like it just needed more to me. Maybe a few more episodes and I would have enjoyed it a lot more. I saw this series was super popular online and a friend who isn't really into anime said he liked it so I gave it a shot. But honestly for me it just kind of fell flat and I don't get the appeal. The show is just fine with some cool or fun moments sprinkled in but the rest is kind of dull.
There are some aspects I enjoyed about this series, mainly the school system with the different
...
classroom and the points as well as Aynakoji's backstory which I kind of understand but obviously is expanded on in later season. As well as the moments when Aynakoji reveals how he manipulated people in each different situation were cool. But everything else either was dull or needed to be expanded on.
Id start by saying the first few episodes are super dull with nothing interesting going on. There is a bit of world building and we explore some of the characters briefly but that's it. At least when watching a series if I would rate it at a eight or above the first episode has to captivate me in some way. If its through animation, the characters, the storyline or even through comedy. But this series did not captivate me at all. I kept watching because of the hype.
Some of the plot points really needed to be expanded on probably by having a few more episodes. For example the nice girl having two personalities wasn't expanded on except for one scene on the boat. So it just kind of made me confused on why she disliked Horikita and why she was hiding this side of her. I get that you don't want to spell out everything to the audience but just dropping a few more hints or pieces of information would have made this plot point a whole lot better. They do that with Aynakojis backstory which is a thing I liked about the show.
The soundtrack and art-style are just okay. Average for an anime nowadays and nothing too offensive. If the art-style and music is just okay than the other parts of the show have to be good for me to really enjoy it. But classroom of the elite did nothing to keep hold of my interest.
Overall, I would say it might be a good beginner anime as its not too hard to follow and is pretty basic. Also has a lot of anime tropes which a new anime watcher would want to be acquainted with. But if you have watched at least ten different anime I dont get how this could be anything above maybe a 7/10 for someone. The show is just fine and nothing more.

Mushoku Tensei continues being great after an excellent first season which I would highly recommend it to anyone out there looking for an actually good Isekai show which uses the genre and its conventions to heighten the story and its characters. As well as the development and growth of its MC Rudeus.
You may come into it and after watching the first four episodes thinking that story is super different from its first season and that the ED plotline is stupid or so out of place which I can kind of understand. But after watching this whole season I can say that it uses this weird
...
plot point for an anime and makes an interesting and compelling story about Rudy's personal growth into his newer adult life.
Some people have also criticized the story's shift from heavy action and adventure in both parts of season 1 for a reason this dislike this part of the show. But for me I think that this shift perfectly exemplifies what makes this show so great. We are following someone's life in this fantasy world and the story slowing down really allows for an exploration of Rudeus and giving him time to grow more from his past life.
The main plotline of this season is Rudeus trying to fix his ED and the relationship between Rudeus and Fitz who Rudeus eventually finds out is his first friend/love interest Sylphie from his childhood. There whole relationship and romance was the main highlight of this part of Mushoku Tensei for me. I wasn't expecting such a wholesome romance in this anime due to how Rudeus usually acts but it again show his character growth after Eris left in the end of season 1.
Fitz/Sylphie is the best character overall in this season as she is adorable, funny and interesting. I get people may find that her not saying who she was to Rudeus a bit dumb but I think it made sense in the context of her character and the story. Her final reveal to Rudeus is a great call back and the best emotional moment for me at least in the series so far.
The great world-building of this series which people loved from season 1 also didn't slow down. Even though there is less exploration/adventure moments. I love the setting of the university as it brings people from many parts of this world together as well as giving cool new lore information. I especially loved Nanahoshi and her character as it expanded on why/how people reincarnate into this world.
For me at least the appeal of this series is the theme of personal growth which is seen through the lens of Rudeus someone who was not the best person in there old life. We see Rudy grow from being a weird shut-in to someone who has a lot of friends and becomes a reliable person to those around him. However he actually faces challenges within his new life linking back to this theme of growth making it so that there is some adversity to the story. Even though there is still a lot more ways for Rudy to become who he wants to be this season makes great strides in it and this season perfectly highlights this throughout. Giving him moments to grow but also challenging him in different ways.
Overall the story's shift to becoming more slowed down with less action is actually a great choice as it really shows how life isn't always the same and gives a new setting for the show to explore. The only reason this isnt a ten is due to some moments with animation and certain characters who I just did not enjoy at all and kind of take away from the experience as well some of the weird aspects which is kinda present throughout the whole series.
But if you liked the first season then definitely watch this new exciting chapter of the Mushoku Tensei story..

I know people may find this anime a little jarring due to the main cast being anthropomorphic animals which I can understand but if you give this series a chance I think you will thoroughly enjoy it. In all honesty if this was just the same story but with humans I feel like the underlying themes and interesting character dynamics would be made worse.
The world of Beastars was just so intriguing to me and I love the way in which using this world of animals the anime explores deeper human themes. You can say Beastars is kind of an allegory for oppression/racism in our modern
...
world but it really goes deeper into it within the context of the animal society and is not just a surface level exploration like other anime and manga. The us vs them attitude that the herbivores and carnivores have towards each other and how the MC Legoshi try's to get past it is the best part of this story.
Another main thing which I really love about this show is the character relationships and dynamics between the main cast. My favorite definitely were the interactions between Legoshi and Louis. Louis role as a herbivore contrasts with his attitude similar to Legoshi as he is not the dominant predator which his species should make him. Legoshi is just such a great MC and really gets the audience to attach to them. His little monologues throughout the show are a highlight for me.
I have watched it both in Japanese with English sub and English dub and both are excellent. I preferred the VA for Legoshi in the dub as they get the inherent awkwardness of his character across better but the side cast sounds a bit better in Japanese. The animation is also just fantastic. Many people have problems with 3D animation in anime but Studio Orange is the one company who excels in it. If Beastars was a 2D series I would genuinely feel like it would be worse.
If you like drama series with mystery aspects in them I would say you would enjoy Beastars. It starts off as a kind of mystery story in episode 1 but in actuality it is a character drama with explores an unique and interesting world. The story is a drama but I wouldn't say its wholly defined to a single genre. It has aspects of many different things like romance, mystery, almost some horror aspects and of course great dramatic moments.
The soundtrack is excellent for this story it really captures the whole setting and also really heightens the moments between characters. Also the OP and ED are really good and they get even better in the later seasons.
Ultimately, Beastars is one of my favorite anime of all time due to its great setting, interesting characters and relationships, the mix of different genres in its story and the story's deeper underlying themes and messages. I know that the characters being animals and the 3D animation may put some people off of it but I'm telling you that if you can just watch the first few episodes you will fall in love with the series like I did. I understand that maybe the animal parts could make people uncomfortable but for those who don't mind it then just watch this show because its excellent and a modern classic.

I'm actually shocked that Centuria isn't one of the most popular or praised new series right now because so far I have enjoyed every single moment in this manga. I would start off by saying that many people have compared it to Berserk or Vinland Saga but Shonen which may be true. I have watched Vinland Saga up to season 2 but haven't read the manga and have also not read Berserk so people who have read/watched those may have a different feeling for this series. It does remind me of Vinland Saga in some aspects but that's a good things as Vinland Saga is
...
one of the most praised manga of all time.
I'll start off by saying that the first chapter is one of the best I have read for a Shonen manga. Its so gripping and just got me so into this world and the MC Julian. You can easily see Julian's role in this story and it gives a reason for readers to root for him unlike some other manga or anime where the MC feels has nothing of interest in the beginning . Then as the story goes on it just keeps getting better and better. Slowly as the reader is introduced to more aspects of this world it just keeps becoming so much more intriguing.
I love how this manga looks especially the monsters which the MC and his group fight. There are no battle manga with these types of designs that I've read and it really got me more hooked to Centuria. These kind of horror aspects also work really well with the action focused parts of the story giving the reader different experiences throughout. Also the other character designs are great with my favorites being Julian, Angvall, Elestri, Lacrima. There are some moments where I feel the art could be a bit better but overall its very good.
The story so far has been peak. Especially the first major arc in this story has been my favorite first arc I have read in a while. It more feels like a climatic moment in a story which would be at least 50+ chapters but its done in the first 20-30. You really get to see some great moments from the MC and the side-cast as well and the world starts to really get fleshed out more. If these first chapters got adapted to an anime or movie I think it would be a instant success. I would say that the setting of this story is the most interesting aspect for me. I keep reading because I want to know more about this world and how it works. The author has set up some long term mystery aspects for example like one piece and the void century which I cant wait to be further explored.
I will say that the story is also very well paced. We get some moments where the plot slows down and we explore the character interactions more but also sometimes it goes quickly through the action which is what I enjoy. The author is also not afraid of taking some risks with some story decisions that might upset fans which is something I enjoy in this series but also in others. Certain characters you like feel like they could go at any moment which really builds up the suspense in this story and is a criticism I have for a lot of other popular Shonen series.
Currently the manga is entering its second big story arc which is a perfect time for new readers to start and catch up to the weekly release. I'm super excited to see the direction this series heads as it is one of my favorite manga currently coming out. The story has so much left to explore as well, if this manga becomes more popular I could genuinely see it going for over 200+ chapters minimum.
I would say that if you enjoy other Shonen series which are a little more dark or series like Vinland Saga with themes of a found-family, redemption or personal growth I would definitely recommend Centuria. A new gen manga which I feel like is really gonna explode in 2025 and right now is the perfect time to start the series.

Kagurabachi is my favorite action manga that's releasing right now and when its done might be my favorite ever based on how the story is going so far. If you like fun, hype and just plain cool manga I would 100% recommend this series. I don't think there are any other series currently in Shonen Jump which bang like this in less than 70 chapters.
First off I would say that this manga just looks incredible, especially during the big climatic fights of each arc for example Sojo vs Chihiro and Kyora vs Chihiro. The fight choreography is so sick and is so refreshing to see
...
compared to some other action series. It really feels so fluid like its almost jumping off the page especially some of the double page spreads later on in the manga. Also in general I just really think the art style is incredible. It definitely has evolved and gotten so much better since the start of the series. Id say from around the halfway point of the second big arc is when the art-style really starts to peak. I also love the character designs in this series, Its not too over the top but all the characters have a distinct and super cool look. They characters just got drip and it make the series even cooler. Some of my favorites in this series would be Samura, Sojo, Yura, Shiba, Uruha and Chihiro(In the most recent chapters).
Secondly I just love how the story has been moving since the beginning. More specifically the pacing of the story as a whole just has been perfect. Its the first weekly manga I have read where I don't feel like there are some boring points. Each chapters moves the story along and the author doesn't stick on certain moments for too long. Whilst some other series go through arcs too quickly or take forever in certain places , Kagurabachi has this perfect balance which will keep the reader wanting more and also not getting bored if a moment take too long. For example in the most recent arc in the series (Sword Bearer Assassination Arc) The story has been constantly moving but also certain moments get more chapters.
I also love the writing in this series so far in all aspects. I think the author is starting to get into and explore the more underlying themes and concepts in the story. But also in general just the dialogue in the story is good for a Shonen action manga. There isn't too much jargon like other series and the main power system is easy to understand but there's also depth to it and its constantly getting expanded on (Especially recently in the manga). Also the author writes very subtly. They don't shove things in your face and it makes the reader have to think about why stuff happens or what each detail means. Overall just makes this series so much more intriguing. The manga also has great world-building throughout which just makes me so much more interested in learning more. The theories from this manga's community also makes it really fun to follow. However the author doesn't just keep things vague or mysterious and does occasionally give huge lore drops (Chapter 66 IFYKYK)
I think the characters in this series are just great. I find Chihiro to be a very compelling MC for an action manga, he has clear motivations for his actions. His character is constantly evolving through this story and his interactions with the other characters both allies and enemies further his development. You can really tell how Chihiro has changed just within the first 50 chapters. I also love the supporting cast for example Hakuri who basically got his own arc and gave Chihiro a best bro type character who is super unique or Hiyuki who is just a super badass female character who gives a similar vibe almost to Maki from JJK. My favorite of the side characters though is definitely Samura. Just overall is super cool character with a great design and has the most aura farming moments in the short amount of time he has been in the story. The main villain group in the series is also really cool as well. We haven't seen every member so far but I'm loving the ones we have seen. They are serious and menacing but also at the same time there sometimes really goofy and funny which I love about them (Yura, Kuguri and especially Toto even though shes hasnt made to many appearances). Especially Hiruhiko who is being built up to be Chihiros main rival and is both similar and different to Chihiro in many ways.
However a problem which I think many other people have is that certain fan favorite characters from the beginning have been pushed to the side in the most recent arcs which is kind of annoying. But I'm sure we will definitely get more moments with them.
This manga also has had a great English speaking community since the beginning. Most spaces and discussions online are not really toxic and people just in general share there love for the series which is something that is also appealing about the manga.
Ultimately, If you want to read a manga which has great action, a unique and interesting world, cool characters and some of the best art in weekly manga currently. I would highly recommend this series. This was the first manga that I started close to when it first released and following weekly has been a highlight of my Sundays. The memes about it might turn you off of it but I'm telling you to just give it a chance because this series is peak and I want the community to grow more and more.

This is my first review on MAL so it might not be the best written review ever but I felt like writing a review after I was thinking why this show is so loved and praised. I kept hearing about this show online and how apparently great it was but I think it just did not click for me. I think the basic premise of this show is really interesting with return by death. Its a cool ability and could have made for a very interesting plot starting from episode 1. But I'm not sure what about this show made me so uninterested and the
...
only reason I kept watching was because of the hype this series has.
First of all I think Subaru is just such a bad protagonist for like the first 16-17 episodes of this story. Comparing Subaru to someone like Rudy in Mushoku Tensei. A show in the same genre that has at least a similar level of popularity. I could understand Rudy's motivation and character. The shows makes the audience connect way more with the protagonist in the beginning compared to ReZero where I instantly found Subarus character weird and annoying. Maybe getting flashbacks to his former life would have made me connect more with Subaru the same way I felt for Rudy in the beginning. Later on in the seasons Subaru becomes way more interesting and you start to better understand him. But having to go through the first half of the season to finally make Subaru interesting is not good. Also he is just super cringe and annoying sometimes for no reason. He doesn't act like a person in real life would especially one who is supposed to be a shut-in or loser in there past life. But for some reason everyone likes this side of him like if it was me I would just find him super weird. Like there is no development from his past life to new one whereas again compared to a show like Mushoku Tensei Rudy makes strides in becoming a better person in his new life. It actually makes use of the isekai concept for character development and growth which I don't feel like is really emphasized or explored in Re:Zero.
I found the side cast of characters also really uninteresting beside a few. Maybe later seasons expand on them but they were just so boring. Like most of the characters at the mansion and those adjacent are so boring. All of there designs just felt so bland and uninspired for show that is taking place in a fantasy setting. But the worst character in this show for me was Emilia. Like firstly she just is so plain and uninteresting she does nothing to make her character have any depth to it. She is just there to be the pretty love interest of the mc and does nothing else. Her interactions with Subaru are also just super cringe and dull. She is just in this show to move the plot along. Whereas a character like Rem had a backstory that was interesting, a motivation that made sense, scenes where you actually get to know them better and has emotional/dramatic moments as well as development across the season. I also did not get at all why Subaru is so obsessed with her for me that is the main issue for the show. It is so essential to everything happening in this show. He explains why he's in love with her if I remember around half-way through the show but the reason is so fucking dumb. If there was no romance involved in the beginning I think It would be so much more interesting and would give better interactions with Subaru and Emilia and allow for more of her character to be explored rather than just being a dull love interest. Subaru was a NEET in his old life with no friends but having Emilia be his first friend in this new world and first person to show him genuine kindness would make his reason to follow her make way more sense. Also it could develop into romance later on but Subarus immediate obsession made it super weird and annoying.
Another things I though could have been implemented more was the world-building in the show. Like those moments for me were super interesting and cool helping better link the audience to this world and make them feel like Subaru who experiences these things for the first time like the audience. More moments and context on the world and how it works would make me feel way more connected to the world of the story as well as would have made my enjoyment of the show go up.
The show did have some great moments which I really enjoyed for example the whole white whale fight before and after was a really great part of this story. Especially the old guys flashback parts. Another moment I loved was all of episode 18, that's when I felt Subaru really start to change and become somewhat interesting. His goal to just blindly help Emilia finally faulters a bit making him so much more interesting. As well as Rem's whole speech in the episode was the highest emotional moment in the series. However having to sit through so much boring, filler and plain cringe moments did not make these scenes fix my view of the show. The most cringe part of this show for me was episode 15. Just an overall dumb and cringe way trying to explore Subarus trauma. It was such surface level exploration of trauma and mental health with no deeper analysis(which is true for a lot of other moments in the series).
I also didn't really like the art-style, character design and animation in the series but that is probably just my own personal preference and wouldn't effect another persons enjoyment of this show.
Overall, I would say that people should give it a chance as it might click for you like it did for so many others. But for me Re:Zero is not the groundbreaking, revolutionary and peak masterpiece that it is hyped up to be online. It is not the peak of the Isekai genre like so many say but rather just felt like another isekai show with a somewhat boring plot with great moments sprinkled in. A show in the genre which I really enjoyed was Mushoku Tensei and maybe my expectations and experience from watching that show may have caused me to enjoy Re:Zero less.
