Short one-shot I found because it was drawn by an artist I really enjoy, that tells a story of the remnants and memories after a tragic natural disaster destroyed the landscape, and how people will find ways to talk even when everything around is destroyed.. Great artwork showing how abandoned everything is, but still gives a glow of life to the stationary shop and a really wholesome ending, highly recommended if you have a few minutes to spare and want a neat story, and I recommend other works by the same artist as well. (yes, most of this stuff seems like i'm saying nothing, and

Hello how are you?
I read this work attracted by the art of the cover where warm pastel colors are used against the cold and gray background. And based on that is more or less what the work is about. It's an intimate story that just needs someone to talk and someone to listen in the depths of an abandoned art store for you to feel comforted. It's a one-shot and in just a couple of pages the author managed to make me feel hopeful that even if the situation doesn't work out, the protagonists will be fine with that little link between them. It's a ... Jan 19, 2022
"This is just a playground for me."
Our story starts by introducing us to Kasumi, a young girl who has only known a world rampaged by earthquakes and other natural disasters. Despite there being little to hope for, she finds solace within a building that used to be known as a stationary store, filled with pens and crafts of all kinds. We soon find out that this store, which has survived all of the natural disasters that have occurred so far, ends up being the place that Kasumi goes as much as possible. She makes up one half of the pen-pals in this story. The second character, ... May 12, 2022

Last night I read this One-shot called "Sekai no Owari no Pen Friend". It is one of those short stories that have a unique charm, a pure magic that makes you smile in the midst of disaster. Three characters, two scenarios. The result? A beautiful ending. A lost gem out there. "In a post-apocalyptic stationery store, a girl and a former animator exchange letters. A dystopian correspondence story." That's the synopsis of it and you don't need anything else. An encounter between a man and a girl who yearn with magic for what they love so much or knew how to love. To finish, I want to keep ... Oct 7, 2024
Woah, that was truly wholesome.
The art by Kento Matsuura (I met him thanks to "Honomieru Shounen") is beautiful. The drawings are simple but effective when it comes to conveying emotions and feelings, and at the same time, bringing this kind of "after the disaster" atmosphere. It's a 54-page one-shot that feels fluid (and short) to read, with a "cute" development and a hopeful conclusion. With really few characters you can feel the message and the emotions they have inside them. The story was written by Sekka Iwata, the author of "Magilumiere", it was my first time reading a work of him. It will only take you ... |
