Both are set in a desolate and hopeless worlds. Both are dark and can be gross at times, but they are full of hope at times. Protagonists are quite similar.

Lots of differences, but they share the countdown in every single chapter (in Mosquito War it's the amount of living creatures, in 100-nichigo ni Shinu Wani it's the amount of days he's got left to live), creating tension and a feeling of loss. <> Mosquito War is gore, 100-nichigo ni Shinu Wani isn't.

Last of humanity against hordes of troublesome enemies. Heroic and tragic deaths. One person who lost his (pure) humanity, has a key to make 'humanity' survive, such as by combining humans with those monsters. In the end, a massive war erupts where many die. *Mosquito war has a countdown in every (!) chapter with the remaining survivors of both sides. After a few chapters you begin to feel like deaths are happening everywhere, which is a way to keep the tension. *Horror and psychological (the tags aren't there) *Revival is only possible in extremely rare occasions. <> SnK has more appealing and detailed artwork. <> SnK: a lot more human survivors than in  read more

In both stories, small insects (either cockroaches or mosquitoes) have grown and evolved into bizarre and ugly beings that overpower normal humans. Both of them form a threat to humankind not only because of that, but also due to their enormous number. *Both of them are extinction-survival stories, with lots of bloody scenes and deaths to be expected. *In both stories the strongest fighters have combined the non-human genetic material into their own bodies to grow stronger. <> Terra Formars' art is more appealing than Mosquito War's art.
