Heroic and tragic deaths.
One person who lost his (pure) humanity, has a key to make 'humanity' survive, such as by combining humans with those monsters.
In the end, a massive war erupts where many die.
*Mosquito war has a countdown in every (!) chapter with the remaining survivors of both sides. After a few chapters you begin to feel like deaths are happening everywhere, which is a way to keep the tension.
