Just a quick review from someone who’s about to reread for the fourth time.
(1st review so I don’t know how this works)
This manga is about a wife who’s forcing herself to smile and her husband. It’s an interesting plot which seemed good but I quickly discovered that it was a hidden gem. The thing that caught my eye the most, was the characters; the two main characters of this series are what I call ‘perfect.’ There isn’t a lot of bad things I can say about the manga, but if I had to mention something then it would be the amount of sweetness this manga

Just thought I would make a quick review as there isn't any unless someone else posts one. Also, this contains what could be very helpful opinions and info.
"My New Wife Is Forcing Herself to Smile" honestly isn't something I would regard as monumental in the romance mix in the slightest. If anything, it is rather generic. Though that doesn't make it bad. The story is simple. It follows husband Sanjirou and wife Chiyo in their daily lives of trying to understand one another relationship-wise. From the 1st chapter, it is evident that they are both in love, and that there is no toxicity—only light lust ... Feb 7, 2022
Brief overview:
Story: 7. Nothing special. Art: 8. Conventional style. Panels occasionally bring out the characters’ charms. Characters: 9. Both mc’s are so cute! Enjoyment: 10. I have diabetes now. Overall: 9. I do not want it to end. Less brief overview: I usually refrain from writing reviews for works that aren’t complete or I haven’t finished, but it felt appropriate this time around. I’ll keep this short. Being a slice of life rom-com, this manga revolves around a husband and wife who misunderstand each other and try to grow closer. Storywise, it’s nothing life changing, but it does feel good to read; solid 7/10. The art is pretty standard ... Jun 27, 2023
I don't even know why I like this. It's just so silly, and really nothing new, but especially the last panel gets me every time. There are, apparently, lots of ways of saying how someone is so infatuated with their partner that they reach their limit of endurance, and I found that both funny and endearing.
Seriously, I clicked on this randomly since it was on the front page and did not expect reading the whole thing in one go. To be fair, every chapter is one single page, so it doesn't take a lot of time. If you're in the mood for some fluffy, cute, silly ... Sep 8, 2022
The initial premise, as seen in the title, was very interesting—the wife trying to contain herself and the husband thinking he was doing something wrong. To me, the start of the manga was decently enjoyable and somewhat unique in concept.
However, I feel the manga eventually loses this initial premise—which can work, but was not done gradually and via character development—and it is replaced with the main couple being badass or adorable, and everyone else swooning over them. This style of manga, where the author wants to show us how amazing the protagonists are every turn, is just not my cup of tea; and so ... Nov 2, 2021
Let me start this review by saying, if you like Kaguya-sama love is war... Than don't bother reading any reviews just go and read this manga. Chiyo has the same energy as Kaguya from Aka's masterpiece. This Manga take place back in time in the Samurai era. Luckily no one is isekai'd into this world. This story is about a couple who are in an arranged marriage. They have misunderstandings amongst each other as Chiyo tends to fake a smile to hide her emotions. The misunderstanding lys in the fact that her husband thinks shes dislikes him. However that not case in this situations. Their

TLDR; Pure and sweet rom-com fluff. That's literally it. If you like that type of stuff, you'll find yourself right at home, if you were hoping for a more nuanced romance, look elsewhere.
Im going to completely frank with you all; this is not that great of a story. The characters are paper thin, and there's no cohesive plot to really string the mostly episodic chapters. Despite them being an adult, married couple, I've seen more emotional maturity in teenagers from other anime/manga. However, the simplicity of the story and characters works in its favor. There is no real drama, just two love birds gushing over ... Jan 26, 2024
Fro the mangaka of Knight lady, I expected a manga that can utilise and explore unique troupes whilst having in solid worldbuilding. Instead, the content of the manga stop at the title, because the entire manga is *only* about "my new wife is forcing herself to smile"
It's certainly a unique concept, but when you stretch this one idea you have over 100 chapters, whilst adding no substance in between, the manga gets boring very very quickly. The side characters and world building all gets pushed aside so this one concept can be present in almost every chapter. If you just read the first 10 chapters, you ... |
