If you want to see a reaaally critic review, then stop right now. I just need to talk about how this work really warms my heart everytime I read. It may contain light spoilers!
First, I have to be clear: I'm the biggest fan of fluffy stories, all the healthy and cute relationships, really tooth rotting scenarios. And 'Tonari no Metaller-san' have all of this and much for an one-shot publication in a light mood. Everything begins with Soushi, a strange looking man, saving a passed out Kento in front of his apartment from a cold, freezing day and give him some warm food. I will try ... Mar 19, 2022
This manga is so pure and wholesome, it melts my heart. The art is beautiful and delicate and the story flows well in its own time and it doesn't rush through small - but significant - moments. They range from tender, amusing, cute to bittersweet (and a lot of them were quite relatable for me personally). Goes to show that you don't need a long story or many things to happen for emotions to come across *just right*. In fact, I think it's even more impressive when an artist manages to convey emotions in such a short time and without delving into someone's past.

I had this in my "to read" list for so long I didn't even remember who was the author, wich was good because the other works I've read from her, are not my cup of tea.
But this manga? Oh boy was it good. It managed to hook me right from chapter 1 and the more I read the more I wanted to keep on reading. It's a story with a slow pacing, but it manages to develop the characters quite well for a 1 volume manga. The way it presented the characters, giving us some context for the both of them little by little and I ... Aug 29, 2022
This is such a sweet, heart-warming story, almost unbelievably so. The idea of a metalhead who is really shy and doesn't speak much is interesting, original and incredibly well crafted into the story, the art style is beautiful, and both guys are sweethearts and kind to each other, and the feelings... oh the feelings. It hits so well.
Overall a great short story for a quick read that causes increased blood sugar and mushy heart. Of course, some of the moments are exaggerated for the comedic effect, but nothing feels forced and the situations are actually funny (seriously, who wouldn't want a preschool kid as ... Jun 8, 2022
First of all, this manga is way better than it seems. At first I wasn't sure about it, I mean, I was afraid about how Mamita would turn out this story. And it surprised me SO WELL. It's so easy to emphatize with the main characters(specially with Soushi).
Words are not enough to describe it. It's such a warm, cute and soft love story, about friends that eventually discover their true feelings about each other. I really liked the fact that there's no "but I'm a man, I can't fall in love with another man!" line. It's not bad, but you see it so often in ... Oct 22, 2024
I read it just out of curiosity with the title, since I'm also a big fan of metal. And it's so good!!
I was surprised, so I don't want to say too much and ruin that feeling, but I thought the elements and information about metal, the show they go to and how things work were really cool. I was really excited because it's one of the few times, maybe the first time I've seen something like this in a manga. I've read several about rock bands, but metal is the first time. The author managed to convey the feelings well and I ended up identifying ... |
