A perfect example of judging a book by it's cover!

The art (at least when it's to the female anatomy) is spectacular! Everything else, passable.

The story.... You'd think that the author would have an easy path to writing a story about a chef transported to a world where they literally only cook to survive.... but you'd be wrong. Instead of driving the story home about how food unifies and mends bridges or what not it instead focuses on petty politics, made up drama, and of course over simplification of the most mundane things.... AND THAT WOULD BE FINE AND ALL IF THE MUNDANE THING COULD AT ... LEAST BE FOLLOWED LIKE FOOD RECIPES, BUT YOU CANT! ALL FOOD AND INGREDIENTS IS MADE UP SO YOU CAN'T EVEN FACT CHECK IT LOL.

Look, the intro is a solid 8. Outside of how stupid the MC died, or about how important certain things are to then quickly get forgotten all about in the following chapters, It's fine.. New world, cooking knowledge, pretty girls with tragic back stories. What can go wrong? Sorry, that's the wrong question. The correct question is " How do I mess this up?". This is how!

FINAL THOUGHTS:
SKIM IT! Hahaha, That's my honest review! It would be too harsh to the artist if we did not appreciate some of the panels he drew the female body in. I mean you can see the front cover of this manga and see that he definitely has talent. His art is wasted on such a story in my honest opinion. I'm not talking about the art with my other brain either, it's genuinely good. So skim it! Just read a page here, skim 20, and so on and you'll be done in less than 1 hour. Honestly the story is so linear that you won't even miss anything anyways! Don't waste your time otherwise!

Overall promising, but very slow moving plot.

Since this is the Adaption of a Light novel it will be treated as an unwanted step child, like every Manga version for Light novels. If you don't like waiting 3-4 Months for Updates that might never come you shouldn't read this.

But what is it about?

The son of an Restaurant owner dies in the stupidest way possible since Kazuma. He ran into a burning building to save a knife.


But that's actually not so bad, since he now has a knife in the isekai world. Getting saved by an absolutely stunning Woman, he quickly learns that her society hasn't ... evolved much from cavemen. They have fire and tools, there is a town nearby, but they somehow don't even know the basics about disecting Animals. They don't know about bloodletting and they only eat small parts of the "Giba" (Somewhat bigger and stronger boars) while throwing the rest away.

They don't know how to cook and our chef to be is going to educate them.


As for the Art, it's clearly above average.

The characters have as much depth as you would guess from a hunter and gatherer society. But it's fine.

I give it a 7/10 because of the art and the rather unusual story.

1 Bonuspoint for having an Isekai without game interface for the protagonist only.

Tldr: FOOD. ITS COOL. GET SOME SKILLS AND YOU'LL GET SOME BITCHES

I don't know where this idea started, but I've been loving the recent focus on life skills in isikai and manga in general. From economics in Spice & Wolf to FOOD. ITS GOOD.

If you want an interesting twist on isikai that can also moonlight as a cookbook, read Otherworldly Izakaya "Nobu" (READ IT I DONT THINK IVE WANTED TO BECOME A BARTENDER MORE THEN WHEN READING THIS)

As all slow-life, fantasy, and cooking mangas go, this manga is “ok.” It’s nothing great due to the lack of enticement from the drawn-out and slow-paced plot despite there being actual development; the characters start off promising at first, mainly because of the art, but there’s barely any development besides for some cliches, which adds nothing important to the general theme of the story.

With a promising start due to the self-awareness of the stupidity of the mc’s actions and some lingering regrets, there’s a small bit of seriousness, however, it’s introduced rather nonchalantly and suddenly, as there’s no clear direction or flow from each ... plot point. The plot starts an arc, and it either repeats the same conflict, resolution as a subplot or it introduced more “bad” characters to make the mc progress; there’s simply no diversity in its developments.

To put it out there, the fmc and female designs are mesmerizing, probably some of the best designs for a tanned female. However, their personality don’t really live up to it, as they are one-dimensional and don’t develop outside of the sudden/usual cliches. The mc is somewhat decent, but his small inconsistency snd plot devices in his personality makes this manga rather disappointing, as there’s not much happening romantically or emotionally.

There’s some small entertaining, relaxing bits in this manga, but it’s accompanied by the lack of diversity and appeal that occurs from impactful characters and unique plot developments.
