Since no one did a review for this amazing manga, I will do it!

It’s my first review ever + English is not my first language, so I’m sorry for any possible mistakes.

So, this manga. WOW what a great surprise, for real. At first I wasn’t expecting much, I just thought it would be a cute cliché BL manga, but I was wrong. Even though it does have some cliché, it also has some things that I really miss in most part of the yaoi I read.

The story follows these two boys who met while playing a silly game on the street, and obviously fall ... in love. While most BLs (and romance in general, right?) show us just a little part of its characters relationship, Senjou no Bokura goes further. The manga shows the characters' relationship through all their lives, and in a really realistic way.

Like any couple, they go through problems. However, doing different from the other yaois, their crisis really make sense. It’s not because of jealousy or because a girl is trying to separate them. Indeed, it’s something that a gay couple in a really conservative and homophobic society may go through, unfortunately. Of course that if this was actually a real story things probably wouldn’t end up fine, but since it’s fiction we got a happy and sweet ending.
The end is also something that I love in this manga. While I was sad at first, the last few pages made me so happy and at peace. It was kind of cliché, but at the same time, it wasn’t. It’s hard to explain.

So mixing reality with the cute and sweet fiction, without rapes and abusive relationships, Life: Senjou no Bokura doesn’t fail in delivering a great BL, with a great relationship build up and a great ending. A true gem in this yaoi world.

This manga has a poignant ending that resonates with me and which still replays in my mind now and then. This is a cute love story between two guys. What makes it different from other romances is that it follows the couple from high school to old age. While the majority of stories end after the characters confess and become a couple, this manga shows the trials that await a long-term relationship.

The problems which the characters face are realistic instead of cliched drama. For example, it addresses the societal pressure of having a heteronormative relationship, and feeling like a gay relationship is abnormal and just ... a passing desire that will ultimately result in regret.

I really liked the story’s use of a line as its visual metaphor. The line represents a person’s path in life, and how even when one might stray from that path and end up lost and confused, there is still hope of finding the right path again.

The manga does have some flaws though. The frequent time skips make the story seem a bit rushed and shallow. I would have prefered the manga to spend more time on each section and delve deeper into the plot and characters’ thoughts. However, its strong points are what stick with me in the end. All in all, the story is very sweet and heartwarming with just the right dose of realism.

Life: Senjou no Bokura is the kind of story that I would totally recommend to anyone who likes BL. I read it with high expectations and I was not disappointed, just the first chapter was enough to made me think "wow, this manga is awesome".

The story is simple, but I wouldn't say it is cliche, quite the contrary, one of the points that surprised me the most is that it is very creative (especially the way they met) for a story that shows the normal life of a couple. Another point that I liked and want to mention is that this is a story ... with lots of happy and sad moments, it will make you laugh and maybe cry (well, I cried a lot).

I don't have much to say about the art, it is also simple, without many details, but still beautiful and you can easily identify what is happening. Unless you are a person who really cares about details and only like those super amazing art styles, I don't think the simplicity of the art will be a problem.

About the characters, well, there aren't many, in fact, the story only focus on the couple, so others only appears in specific moments. Talking about the main characters, their personalities are loveable, I especially liked Nishi's, who is very child-like, Itou is more serious, but he also acts like a child sometimes.

To sum up, this manga is totally catching from the beginning to the end and I really don't think you will regret reading it.

Wow, this manga was nothing that i was expecting. It was simply beautiful.

Basically, its about these two high school kids named Nishi and Ito and they play the white line game where if you fall of it , something bad happens. They intersect at a line, and the story begins.

Both the characters were amazing. As the clock ticks by, they grow with one another and cherish each other. However, as a gay couple, they face challenges that other normal couples don't. Ito is the one who gets the most pained and worried about such challenges and ends up hurting Nishi. The reconciliation takes a while, ... but they are able to be at peace with each other.

If you don't cry reading this, you're sincerely tough. If you enjoyed Paradise View, you will surely enjoy this one. If you haven't read Paradise View, I suggest you check it out and its prequel Kimi to Parade.

This made me cry because it was too beautiful and bittersweet! At one point I am so mad at Akira, but fate really does bring you together with the one you love. When they showed them both growing older and that ending when they met again in heaven was just so sad, so painful like my chest was being twisted so hard because they really are destined, yet I was so happy to see Akira and Yuuki's youthful, smiling faces again. I can't describe how much I am in pain right now because this shows reality of what we go through and I don't want ... an ending, just to continue living happily with the one you love forever! :(

... oh and don't be a dumbass like i was, the numbers represent how old they are at the time, that's an important part of the concept - as the story covers course of their lives

(also made me tear up at the end but maybe i just have a softspot for this type of relationship or the values these characters hold dear to themselves)

I have a great appreciation for manga such as this one.

In most romance manga, whether BL or not, the story doesn't always show what happens to the couple AFTER they enter the relationship. They sometimes to a timeskip to show that they possibly get married but nothing more than that.

THIS MANGA IS DIFFERENT. Not only does it show the progress of how a simple crush blossoms into love, it also shows what happens to the couple AFTER they entered their relationship. In addition to that, they also explored the harsh reality and consequences of being in a long-term relationship as well as ... being in a homosexual relationship as you grow up.

It even shows how some people lose their sense of "imagination" when they "grow up" but realize that it never fully disappeared.

All in all, I highly recommend this manga to those who want to read something different, a story close to reality.

It's beautiful and heartwarming and guaranteed to make your eyes water, probably.

I spent 30 minutes crying in the bathroom at 12:00am on a weekday because of this magnificent, splendid, wonderful gracious manga. Taking into account i'm the type of person to sob uncontrollably watching thai insurance commercials, my tears could be considered rather "cheap". But I assure you, even if you don't brawl your eyes out (like me) reading this manga, you will feel a sort of painstakingly heartwarming sensation after finishing this masterpiece.

The story takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride as you follow the love life of the two mc, nishi and akira. You get to witness the different stages of their ... beautiful relationship. From the passionate start, with both mcs falling head over heals for each, until the bittersweet ending. JUST THINKING ABOUT THE ENDING MAKES ME WANT TO CRY ALL OVER AGAIN.

One thing that sets this manga apart from all the trashy bl mangas i've been reading i think, is how in-depth the story goes. Other reviews already talked about how the manga displays social issues and challenges they face being a gay couple (so I won't repeat it here). It just goes to show you how much care and thought the author put into writing such a well constructed and relatable story. The issues explored such as conformity to social norms and oppression applies to a wide range of problems our modern society faces. Not only do I feel significantly less trashier after reading this manga, for me it was sort of like a revelation, reminding me of the real life issues we should be considering as human beings and the things we could do to benefit and help the society.

All in all, I urge you, my fellow fujos to read this manga. Give it a go it's only 6 chapters, you've got nothing to lose. The fact that I put aside a 3000 word essay that I have not started, which is due in three days to write this review at 12:30 in the morning is because this manga deserves it. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll just go sit in my little corner and cry with this stabbing pain in my heart, aching because of this manga's marvellous ending. THIS MANGA HAS DESTROYED ME, IT HAS PIERCED MY HEART AND CAUSED ME TO DIE EVEN THOUGH I AM ALREADY DEAD INSIDE. IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL AND REPRESENTS THE FLEETINGNESS OF LIFE SO GRACEFULLY I JUST WANT TO HIDE IN A HOLE AND BRAWL.

I'm here after rereading this manga. So now that my tears are fresh, I decided it was time to review this gem.
The manga starts off with Nishi, an innocent and creative high school student who likes to follow a line and make up stories. He encounters Itou, a boy the same age and with the same interest. They become friends, and throughout the manga, we get to see them become adults and face different hardships.
So it's a rule that, whenever something makes me cry, I'll always give it the higher rates. But this story truly deserves it. It's well written, the art is gorgeous, the ... characters are wonderful. Everything about Life Senjou no Bokura is great. I couldn't stop thinking about this story and I ended up coming back to read it again.
Anyone looking for a happy yet sad story, look no further, this is what you're looking for. And have some tissues ready because the tears won't stop flowing once you reach the end of this line.

I’ve been reading BL on a daily basis for a number of years now. I generally forget a lot of titles I’ve read though there are only a dozen manga that I could remember even the finest details like how the art panels looked like, how the story made me feel, and how it impacted my life. This manga is one of them.

It is the culmination of what it means to love someone as both parties grow towards their old age - whether it is to grow closer or further apart. It explored the naïvity of the two boys as they discover this love ... that was slowly blooming. This manga explored the hope-crushing reality as they grow into adults and their love is challenged by society, to the point of not believing that they can live with what they have together. It is a bittersweet tale, full of their happiest and lowest moments. Definitely a more realistic approach when it comes to portraying a queer relationship, which is something that is hardly conveyed in major BL titles.

The author's art style wasn't my favorite, and I wish it had been longer. Given that, this manga is probably my most favorite manga of all time.

The author managed to do something that isn't found commonly in most manga whether it is shounen, shoujo, BL, or otherwise. The author managed to cram so much imagination and literary alchemy into the 6 chapters that they did write. The manga wasn't mundane- it was realistic, outlining real struggles of real people.

I don't know how to describe the feelings this manga made me feel even though it was only 6 chapters. The amount of emotional depth ... the author managed to cram into those pages is really beyond me. She juxtaposes ordinary day-to-day life with the magical fantasy that the main characters live in and shows just how love can make life feel magical.

I've cried during anime and manga. Not easily, but I have definitely cried. When I reached the end of this manga, there is a scene in the last chapter where the way the panels are paired together made me so emotional so suddenly that I couldn't cry. I wanted to puke because the emotions all hit me like a ton of bricks because I knew it was a pain that every single one of us will face.

Summary: You get to watch the characters fall in love, overcome the trials and tribulations of being two men in a relationship, more so than that, just two people living in the world, dealing with the fact that everything has an end. Please read this manga! It is so necessary.

I cannot stress enough the gentleness of this story…it’s short, sweet, takes you LITERALLY ACROSS THE ENTIRE LIFETIME OF THE TWO MCs (Akira and Yuuki) and I was lowkey tearing up at the end…basic premise is two high schoolers meet while playing the line game (imagining you’re on a tightrope or whatever and either side is a huge drop with spikes at the bottom or you’re crossing a shark infested ocean - the two scenarios they use in the story actually) and ... obviously when y’all meet on the same line, it becomes a stand off on how to get around each other without falling, but they do this cute hand-holdy spinny thing and go on their merry way… this happens several times, they fall in love, and then their life continues on with this recurring theme…



One exceptionally frustrating moment in their late 20s notwithstanding, this is just a delightful story of first and lasting love blossoming over the years and the ending gets at ya I swear…I personally feel the length was probably just right, though maybe one particular moment seemed a bit rushed so maybe could have a little bit more on that but what can you do…

Alright it's been about a year since I read this BL, and it still gets me to this day. It is very realistic yet dreamy.

Perfect amount of life, love, and adversities incorporated. Definitely something I reread once a while.

Personally I enjoy reading more realistic LGBTQIA+ stories, so this was definitely enjoyable because it tackles the taboo perspective Japanese society has against homosexual couples.

How those ideals society maintained, affected the characters. Although some parts are purely something you could only spectate in a manga , or not realistic, it doesn't put a bad image on the story line because; let me tell you, I ... am so grateful for the storyline and components.

Life: Senjou no Bokura is a cute manga with an original premise… for the first chapter, that is.

That one chapter is quite nice, using the silly and mundane action on walking on pavement line to develop interest between characters naturally and show the increasing interest in each other. Than it goes the way of the usual horny BL and speedruns to the explicit sexual scenes. You want story? No, here’s some porn. Of course, some people read those exactly for the porn, but it just feels so sudden and unnatural.

With next chapter I’ve noticed what this manga is trying to do. It is in ... fact speedrunning the whole life story. Now, the idea of following the characters until old age is quite nice. Not a new one, but not so common in this genre, and can be enjoyable if don right. Unfortunately, this is one of the cases when I’ll have to say it would actually benefit from being longer. 5 chapters just simply wasn’t enough for this kind of project (the extra chapter doesn’t count). What this resulted in was the manga trying for an emotional payoff it didn’t build, emptions based on relationship we were shown only shadows and glimpses of.

This manga had some good ideas and some not so good ideas, adding up to a score of average. However, for BL standards, it belongs among the better one, so if you’re here mainly for that, you will still very likely enjoy this one.
