Main characters are (war or high-ranked) veterans with a lot of fighting experience. *The way of how cozy and frequent foods are depicted is very close to each other. <>Golden Kamuy is gorier and more bloody than Henkyou no Roukishi Bard Loen <>Golden Kamuy has a group of people travelling together most of the time, while Henkyou no Roukishi Bard Loen is more about travelling on one's own

Strong main character who just wants to live a nice and quiet life, retired from their old profession, but it proves harder than it looks like.

- Both MCs are portrayed as a strong experienced adventurer - Both act as this guardian figure to someone - One of them seeks to get stronger , the other to find his final rest , but they share similar encounters

Both have aged main characters and take fantasy tropes more or less seriously, particularly Henkyo no Roukishi. I'd say in terms of storytelling Henkyo is superior, but both are worth reading. Bokuensha ni Naritai is infinely cuter. Henkyo advances the plot a lot faster. I think readers of one of them will enjoy the other.

Both are fantasy adventure story where cooking plays an important part in nearly every chapter

Do you like an experienced and old person travelling a fantasy world and enjoying experience life? The both of these are for you. In Sousou no Frieren magic is heavily used while there might be bigger plots in Henkyou no Roukishi Bard Loen concerning countries. Both have a "slow" pace, or rather it is not rushed. Would recommend both!
