Both have delinquent charismatic main characters that fall in love despite constant adversity and forces pulling them apart. Mars has been my top favorite manga for a long time and i never expected to find a manga that could rival it but Let Dai proved to be equally amazing. Both have beautiful artwork and fully developed characters that take you on a breathtaking journey that stays poignant on your mind long after youve finished the series. Simply amazing stories.

Psychologically twisted stories of desire, cruelty, and violence born from a forbidden love. Angst, plot twists, and true-to-life characters await you in these painful stories. A Cruel God Reigns tells the disturbing story of Jeremy, slowly becoming more neurotic as he suffers under the sexual abuse from his step-father. Let Dai follows Jaehee in an unusual and tragic love story with the cruel delinquent Dai.

Banana Fish and Let Dai exceptionally display a powerful and forbidden relationship that is continuously interrupted by society, but proves to be absolutely unbreakable. Dai and Ash are both feared gang leaders- blond, beautiful, flawless, and at the same time, completely menacing. They begin to show their soft side to a single, innocent character that does not belong in their violent life. Through the immense character development and plots that both deal with dark themes realistically, the two individuals bonded together by something beyond love, will end up risking everything, including their own lives, for one another.

I felt there was a similar all consuming love(or addiction) between the main characters in these two stories. They know that their own desires are consuming them and it would be better for them not to be together but that simply is not a possibility.

Both are fairly realistic (compared to your typical shounen-ai manga, at least) and beautiful portrayals of heartbreaking forbidden love between two teen boys.

Both couples share similar dynamic - innocent boy paired with wild delinquent. Both have to fight for their love against parents, society... Well written, complex stories with interesting side characters. I have to add that Let Dai is shonen ai not yaoi.

A suffocating, beautiful but painful love. Let Dai and Totally Captivated expand on this subject perfectly and truly make you feel like you're captured in this love affair with these characters. The protagonists are confused with the love that they feel towards their lovers but their feelings towards them are very strong no matter how painful they might be. Let Dai is full of drama while Totally Captivated tickles your funny bone every now and then but they both have a way of making you fall in love with their characters and feel for them.

Both are manhwa dramas that try to realistically examine a "forbidden" love, without getting into anything really explicit. Some intense scenes, and tragedy. Let Dai is about a gay relationship, Flower about incest.

Boys love, miscommunications, delinquent acts, and over the top slice-of-life drama. Not only that, but the main guy refuses to acknowledge and love himself. They're also about how insecurities, distance, and problems grow over time (just like the Hydra, a monster that would double itself when killed). Both have an almost equal cast of female/male characters, and one event concerning a certain girl in both series kinda starts the downfall of everything.

Although Let Dai's genre is shounen ai (no sex shown) and Dog Style is yaoi (sex is shown quite explicitly), both are about gay highschool delinquents, and both deal with loneliness and finding a soul mate. Both are bittersweet. Both show rape at some point, though In Let Dai a whole plot line is drawn out of it and it ends much more tragically. In the end, both mangas have a somewhat similar feeling about them. Both are good reads and pleasent to the eye.

Those two manhwas have a lot in common: A "normal", innocent boy meets a strong yet lost boy and try to save him. A beautiful story with slight shonen-aï, a lot of angst yet many happy moments. Be careful, you won't be able to put it down when you'll have started!

In both stories, the main characters have lost their faith and trust in the world. It soon becomes evident that the only thing keeping them going on in life are their relationships with others, and even more importantly, the relationship they find with their special other. Though these stories are of different genre (shounen ai vs. gender bender), the romance in these two stories both give an outer-worldly feel to them that are hard to find in manga now a days. They prove that even when life kicks you down, love will always be there for you and help you get back up.

When reading 'Boku wa Konomama Kaeranai' I couldn't stop thinking about 'Let Dai'. The main resemblances in the story are: - a very dangerous friendship that leads to homosexuality - a boy trying to end things with a girl so he can start a gay relationship - rape Both stories have a great tear-factor, though I have to say: compared to 'Let Dai', 'Boku wa Kaeranai' has a rather happy ending.

In the simplest terms, they are both shonen-ai manhwa with similar art styles. Running on Empty and Let Dai give off the same atmosphere for the reader. Basically, two males slowly become drawn to each other, while they are struggling against society. Psychological problems are reoccurring in both, as well as themes of suicide. The couples are both running away from the real world, whether in an indirect or a direct way. The beach even symbolizes a calm setting in both manhwa. You will find that a combination of angst and delight is presented the same in both Let Dai and Running on Empty. You  read more

You really get the same feel off of the characters. They both are really sweet confused love stories, where you're constantly wishing for them to be together, but it's too complicated, and something keeps coming between them. The characters and story really seemed alike. I was convinced, by the time I finished reading it, that it was by the same author, but then it wasn't .. :) two really great manhwas, i would definitely recommend both! :D

Those stories have several conecting points and it's not just bittersweet boys love. First thing is secrets, scars from the past, that made them who they are and somehow connect them so much that there is no need to ask. Feeling more important than words, desire to only be together, separation, pain, more questions...

These mangas remind me so much of one another. They both have the same kind of poetic rhythm and deal with the themes of loss of innocence and acceptance. The character's emotions cause our emotions to trigger and hope for the best of them. And though 'Let Dai' is little more for mature audiences compared to 'Fruits Basket', they both contains lots and lots of ANGST. I recommend both!
