what kind of father abandons his kid at the park! seriously, how irresponsible can you get? at least he saved him in the end
the only way to stop a gamer from playing is either: beat them, or wait until they get bored (though 2% percent suffer seizures

Yeah I thought the same thing. I would've at least asked to see if they could send somebody to look after Gen.

I was expecting him to take the kid with him since he seems to think its just a strange club of some sort. though hopefully he doesn't still believe that after this episode.

so if there was a walkway right underneath the kid, then why did he need to be rescued at risk of life and limb? sure he might have twisted his ankle or suffered some other minor injury from the fall, but it wasn't going to kill him.

also, you'd think they'd be more careful with the life of their "ultimate weapon".

btw, why did she go to her high school reunion without her husband? is she ashamed of him or something?

XD He thought he had the coolest dad:

NOT becasue he saved his life

NOT because he is an awsome guitarist

NOT becasue he risked his life for him

BUT b/c he was "friends" with a "cartoon character"

.....what are kids for *face palm*

This. All in all this was a bad episode. Oji proved to be a too self-centered guy who deserves the indifference of his wife. I kinda like it cause it made the anime a bit more realistic but the whole set up for the "saving of the kid" seemed too poorly made.

It was an OK ending, to get there you have to facepalm at how terrible and irresponsble a father Oji is, a "supposedly" advanced alien security system even an innocent kid can evade, that weird rescuing effort action scene...

yeah Psychlo-Anime subs translated it as "repair hatch at the bottom of the tunnel", (the tunnel as my perception see it, is the one they're seeing Gen from). I know there's an urgency of rescuing him from falling so I understand Oji's recklessness and Hamill think the kid's an intruder but the rest of the characters are idiots. >_<

Hear, hear!

So what's going on in space? What's the status of the war? O_o The front? The space sector here and there? O_O The enemy? Yuki's space forces disposition? @_@ Oh yeah I forgot, this all about Hard Rock!!! X_X

hahaha the father leaving his kid in the park was awesome! in a sad and irresponsible way of course. oji's wife seems like a secondary character in the whole story. i hope something more is going to happen to/with her in the episodes to come. but god! the music in this series! ^^ awe-feaking-some!

I think the kid was watching a version of power rangers...hard to show a live action show in an anime...what would you do if you were a little brat and found out your dad knew the power rangers? I'd be flipping head over heels.

That said, Oji was a complete moron for leaving his kid alone in the park.

4 episodes in now, and now I'm wanting an explanation for the whole space war going on...not that I mind the rock and roll.

This anime is so bad, that it's good in deflecting viewers from accurately pinpointing its flaws. I don't even know if it's purposely fking with my head.. The logical inconsistencies such as in this episode where both of them fall thirty metres and land safely on the thin walkway with not injuries... I genuinely don't know if it's a shit anime or something else. Now if Gen was stuck in a display home vent, and they fell back into a human room, that would've been far more effective in reinforcing the assertion that Gabe is some space hero and at the same time casting doubt on his perception of reality. The fact that Gen, a child who is in love with a children's space cartoon also fits wonderfully with these two hypothetical scenarios.

I want to believe there is something more to this than a guy playing his guitar and destroying star ships, but the anime leaves no room for viewer interpretation, especially with the increasingly evident roles of other characters and their interactions with space related issues.

Personally this anime would've been much cooler if it stuck to the known but little used themes used in "American Beauty" or "Death of a Salesman" but to each their own.. I think the show would've much more engaging, enjoyable and the finale would've had a great payoff when reached

I adore mindfk anime, but not when they badly connect the dots, even rendering rewatches not supposedly better with every rewatch but worse.

if they did more research on their messiah they would've known gen was his kid, but ignoring that, at least eh knows his dad is a cool rocker

This show is about middle-aged angst, pining for a better past, attempting to recapture it, and the problems that entail. I don't think there's any question the aliens are literally real. They're just a fantasy element that moves the story along.

Yeah, that's how a child would react xD

Two episodes that rather focussed on the relationship with his family, time to get more of that rock lifestyle.
