I grew up watching shows like Pokemon, Shin Chan and Dragonball. Now that i'm older and wiser i've decided to take my anime more seriously. Always welcome to share/receive recommendations and have discussions! ^^
I guess I just got absolutely no sense for that. It is true that I don't really remember how colorful original Naruto was, but just from my memory, I wouldn't assume it's any different from Dragon Ball. Are you a graphic designer by any chance? :)
What was the main reason you couldn't get into it? At the very begging, I remember Naruto acted like a total idiot and Sakura was such a ragegirl that I literally hated these two. Perhaps this isn't so significant in manga? I don't know, never read Naruto manga really.
You know... It is right thing that you watch older anime. Seriously, just look at the number of shows I dropped already. How often do you see someone who only completed little over 200 titles and already dropped 35?
Whenever new season starts, I pick like 2 or 3 things that look somewhat decent. Then... first episode, second episode, "what the f**k is this s**t"... dropped. Seriously, it's a waste of time.
Personally, I haven't really started anything from this season. I keep on watching Hajime no Ippo and Kuroko no Basuke from previous season as they're 25-ep long series. Along with that, there's Naruto and HxH I enjoy watching every week.
With MAL, there's always lot to watch. Even if anime stopped releasing completely, I feel like I'd have enough to watch for the rest of my life. ^^
Thank you for the new year's wishes. I've been kinda busy with exams and didn't really feel like going to MAL as much. So let me wish you happy new year as well. ;)
Did you take a look at current anime season? Is there anything you're gonna watch?
Not that I'm an anti-technologist, not at all. Actually, I'm spending nearly all my free time using "technology", so that wouldn't really make sense. ;) What I really dislike though, is something like this: http://www.08direct.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/japanphone.jpg (just some random pic from google). If you know what I'm saying... Let me give you another example. You meet up with some of your friends and they spend like 50 % of the time on their phone doing some things instead of having fun with you. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to have a cell phone nor to use one, interacting with people that are this "busy" just isn't as satisfying for me.
I know it might sound weird and it's very hard to explain, but actually by looking over sites like 9gag, I noticed there are lots of people who agree with me on this.
There is another picture. It goes by title "All this technology is making us antisocial." :) http://i.imgur.com/WkHHpZ1.jpg
Again, I'm not talking about how you spend your free time, I'm talking about how you behave in public. Hope I explained myself clear. ;)
Hmm, I even borrowed Hard-Boiled Wonderland, but I had lots of book at the time and I quite didn't manage to get to it in time, so I had to return it in lbrary. Someone had it reserved already, so I couldn't re-borrow it. :/
I read Norweigan Wood for my mandatory graduation book list. There were 20 different books we had to read and this piece from Murakami was definitely the most enjoyable on that list. I also had an oppurtunity to put Kafka On The Shore there, but since it's 600 pages long book, I rather passed on that due to time it'd take to go through it. Right after graduation, I read Kafka as well. ;)
Anyway, I think you should know that the last book book you talked about is actually named 1Q84. ;) And also, I reckon you can change your MAL username once per month or so, so you can put 84 there. :D Not a big deal, but you know.. it's a piece of art. :D
How can you even substitute books with something like television? :D So I guess you watch your own movies since there's not much to see in regular TV programme, right? Or did you mean that you're always looking for movie adaptations first before reading a certain book you're interested in?
I looked up those books you listed. Perhaps I'll get to them one day. ;)
Anyway, since I haven't asked you yet, could you name your #1 book from Murakami? For me it'd be South of the Border, West of the Sun. Definitely 5 stars out of 5.
There aren't really many authors I've read from so far. One day in library, looking for Murakami's books, I found out about other guy with surname Murakami - Ryu Murakami. I was curious, so I tried some of his books and I was very satisfied. Do you know him? Some blood every now an then... I'm currently reading books based on games from Blizzard (Diablo and Starcraft). There are various writers making those, Richard A. Knaak, Christie Golden and others. So I haven't really read from that many different authors.
I guess you got larger variety of artists, am I right?
While it may be awesome in its own meaning, it's also sad not being able to read anything from my favourite author. :D
Yep, reading books online isn't for me as well. When I'm on computer, I do different things. Let it even be playing games, but reading books on computer in general would be uncomfortable for me. I guess we share this opinion. ;)
Haven't read that one yet. ;) Last one I finished was "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running". Kinda good one to motivate you to do something beside sitting on couch. ^^ Believe or not, that book helped me to run over 14 kilometers without single break. ;)
I'm borrowing them from city library and I even ran in situations where they had like 4 books I've already read. ^^ Will need to reserve certain ones as it's kinda impossible for me now to find a next one that I haven't read yet. ;)
