The story is much clearer in this episode and I think it is an improvement. The transformation scenes are now available though they did not impress me a lot.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Awesome episode!

And so it seems these tarot users are subject to a rather cruel fate. Having to kill people and being the only people in the world that can remember them ;_;

So her aunt and uncle will never remember they had a daughter?
The power of the sun makes plants grow superspeed.
And that line the cat said... "Now she won't die in vain"... something is up here. Even more than the obvious things.

Luna is in love with Akari. Sun x Moon shipping.

Seira and Ginka are so mismatched in that gym class.

So Akari couldn't bring herself to fight and ran away? But the people who run this thing seem fine with that. And she runs straight into another enemy. The choice: placidly bear witness to all the attacks knowing that you could do something about them, or fight them, knowing that in doing so you are killing people all the time

I wonder if "Sun" card will have ability to "cleanse" souls.. So she wont have to kill nonstop?

Oh well.. this anime is really weird xD It feels like watching Koerean mmorpg fully animated with really dark theme xD

Oh well anime is really fun ^^. I always welcome dark, cruel, unique, bloody anime.. since they dying off -.- (mostly cuz of annoying law that Japan has set..)

I mean I would to love seeing Corpse Party and Cage Of Eden fully animated

Well this series has certainly taken a turn for the interesting.

I can't say much for the transformations, since they're rather simplistic, but the seinen crowd seems to hate those anyway.

I can't name a single character I dislike at this point. The blue one is kind of cold but she's not being a complete jerk like I expected. She's not acting like she's better than Akari. The circumstances, what they have to do, make me understand her harshness.

I really like the blond fang girl. Can't put my finger on it but she reminds me of someone from another anime... possibly a Kugimiya character.

And what circumstances these are. I'm surprised it was simply memory erasure and not complete time manipulation or something like that. There's bound to be evidence of these people's existences... especially if they're a parent. Photos, videos, distant relatives.

The fight scene was pretty impressive. I wouldn't have minded seeing its resolution, but from a story standpoint I like how it went. I actually feel for Akari and her dilemma. If this show continues to keep my interest, I may shed a tear or two in the future.

As much as it pains me to say it, I can see that. Judging from the goth loli girl's reaction to the raven about people's feelings. At first I was suspicious that there might be something evil afoot, but now I see this as a "necessary cruelty" thing.

And that part about how these monsters have had an influence on history... Ugh. This show is just TRYING to make people scream "It's like Madoka!"

But whatever, it's still loads more interesting to me. 8/10.

Akari's transformation is more drastic than the others, is it just because she's the MC? Not that I mind that much, she's cooler when she transforms anyways. A lot of battle cries in the battle scene. Still looks pretty interesting, though it's not like it's the first time I've seen the whole monster being humans thing.

That was a good episode, answered a lot of questions from the previous episodes, but...

Did I miss something? Why did the day repeat itself? Were we just seeing the fact that their memories were altered so that Fuyuna never existed? If that was the case, they could have done it in a better way, than repeating a day because that just made it confusing. It lead me to think that everytime they defeat the Daemonia (is this what they're called?) the day repeats itself due to the existence of the person being erased. They could have made her wake up the next morning, with no trace of memories within anyone about Fuyuna rather than repeating that day.

Oh well, besides that, it was a good episode.

Their memories were altered so that her existence was, essentially, wiped. That's basically it.

Ah, I thought so. Well like I said, I feel like they could have done that in a more effective day rather than making it seem like the day repeated itself.

Not a fan of the character design, especially those dumb skinny limbs with their giant heads. I never liked that and I know they are loli design but Loli can be somewhat proportially correct, they are just not. But i like the theme and the atmosphere so I will watch it.
So the cat and raven are more QB and don't look at human emotions.

Hahaha.

"People suffering is awful so I want to fight!"

"Yeah, about that - we actually kill the people, sweetie."

Reverse Madoka reference with granting wishes for a contract. Minor Nanoha reference. "Tsuki no kado, onegai!"

This is definitely stylistically cutesy but somehow I feel like it works. Definitely it's own thing in terms of style.

Looking at the art especially this episode it gave me the impression of the Black rock Shooter OVA which was set in a similar type of world.
The story is dark not only do they kill a person they erase their entire existence the only ones that knew they existed are the girls.
Quite a cruel fate indeed it's no wonder Akari's mother didn't want her to enter such a business.

The first half of the episode was kind of slow but it I liked that scene at the start of the mission with the weird mechanical room and vortex thing.

I don't really like the character designs though since it seems a little weird how most of the girls' hair is bigger than their bodies.

I agree with you. As much as I totally dig the artstyle and tarot cards, the pacing and direction of this episode was a little suspect.

Scenes either felt too short, with missing details, or too long, with no meaningful things being discussed in that time. However, I really felt they dropped the ball on the dark reveal. The fact that killing Daemonica means killing the person was poorly presented. Not only was it presented in passing as a sort of fact of the magical system, they really tried too hard to leverage Fuyuna's death, so much that it ended up being a little cheesy. Not only was the relationship between Fuyuna and Akari basically not developed at all before they decided to write her off, they took it into overdrive with Akari saying that she's rather die that kill her mutated cousin. If you really think about it, this reveal isn't even really morally ambiguous...

I still dig the artystyle though, so I'm sitting this through. However, I'm not convinced this anime will deliver on the story side of things. Favourite is easy Sena, followed closely by Ginka.

I'm sure they'll explain it, but when Akari transforms, she basically becomes a totally different character... It bothers me.

Finally, please don't let this be monster of the week.

Already revealed. Their role is to kill Daemonica, which incidently means they will kill the person as well. The only mystery left is Akari's mother, who probably just died to a Daemonica. Please stop comparing this to Madoka. You are only setting yourself up for disappointment.

I've heard something similar before on something, and I dont' understand why every relationship with one's close family has to be developed first. I felt for Akari extremely when she went through that. I understand what it means to have a cousin you're close to. I didn't need the show to waste time on explaining that just to have her die. Can't some relationships just be implied? Why does everything have to have buildup?

There's only so much time thy get to run with the show, so they can't sit there and be a super expository of information. Fuyuna was a plot device to show Akari the horrors of what being a Tarot user are. If they had taken episodes to show more of the relationshp, then that would have meant even more time waiting for Akari to become a magical girl. Which would just be dragging the show out. The point of this show is not to debate whether or not Akari should become a magical girl (unlike a different series that people keep on comparing this to for some reason). I can't really say what the show's aim is just yet, but I know that's not the point.

I applaud them for not wasting time on something which is a small (but still very important) plot point.

Madoka made in China? Haha.

And is not that the anime is getting to me please? Although the theme is not the best, the weather is getting involved, the characters are at least sympathetic, and excellent soundtrack. There is an anime for everyone to love, but it is watchable, hopefully a bit better in dramas involving characters, which seems to be the focus of the anime.

Incidentally, the crow was the best character in the episode 8D
