| Wow that was really awesome. Really kickass fighting scene, especially the one at the end, and a great animation quite colorful and not as flashy as Macross Frontier. And the CGI fitted perfectly. As for the story it's the beginning of all Macross and it's really interesting to see how much the world changed with the apparition of Alien and also how the main character must have felt with the world changing. So far it's really great, hope all the OAV will be as great as this first episode and will not screw up at the end like Frontier did. |

 This seems so much better than Macross Ultimate Frontier as that Shin doesn't shine so much when there is VF-27 Lucifer in the battles. |

| I absolutely love the Macross series (for all the reasons anyone does... the love triangles, the music, the mecha fights), and I only "Liked" this episode. I'm enjoying the back-to-nature setting of the Mayan island, but a Macross universe without any aliens feels kind of "blah" and "generic mecha" show to me. :/ We'll see if my opinion changes... I love the art (even the CGI). And yay for learning Focker's back-story! |

| Hmm I liked the CGI in this episode... not too much, just right somehow. Oh Roy, you treat women rough. LOL I also laughed when Shin remembered and realized he was threatening her with a love letter. :D |

| Focker, I wanted to see you! Loved this episode, the animation is awsome, and Kobayashi Sanae is great as Sara. I like the atmosphere of the island tribe also the ost is pretty good and fitting the settings. I'm gonna like this for sure~ |

| Decided to watch the earlier Macross, and this proves top of the line graphics isn't necessary for good action scenes. |

| Not really impressive. I hate Shin, and Focker looks terrible. If it wasn't for the same voice actor, I'd never guess it's him. The design is really generic and the CGI looks terrible, especially 2D combined with CGI. Not as terrible as Shin Hokuto no Ken, but still bad for an OVA. The only thing left is the story, that doesn't seem interesting, but hopefully it'll develop well in the next episodes. |

Taking all of this, and only analyzing the plot and narrative, for now I like it The design has never been a must in Macross, though! ^ ^ " The plot savors of things already seen, but if you have seen so many anime series is natural. The narrative instead involves much more in the various fights. S.Kawamori always stands out for his creations! * _ * For now I'll stop at 4/5 as a vote! |

| So far so decent. Direction is so-so compared to Plus, but the characters are infinitely more likable and I'm really glad they've brought back the culture-shock aspect. Hopefully everything else measures up, but it's a tad too early to judge. |

| Isn't this supposed to be a prequel? Why do they already know alot about Protoculture? Ancient Aliens possessing Protoculture tech is understandable but how come they know that it's called Protoculture? Didn't the UN Forces learn about the term Protoculture first when the original cast was captured by Zenradi forces? |

| Nice episode, when can watch a pre-macross war, when the world was a shit with the wars. The animation is nice, very nice. Focker is welcome, that for me is a one of the principal characters. The plot is interesting, although there are a few questions that goes ahead to Macross original series. first episode, 8/10 and have to watch how evo!!! |

| Started this back in 2014, decided to watch it proper. Wait, so where does Shin come from, is it Japan? If the real sun was to the east but the other sun (the crashing alien starship) was to the west then South Ataria island (which I've read is a fictional island south of Iwo Jima) must have a longitude west of wherever Shin lives. Roy still a chad years before SDFM. I like Mao's genki-type character. Shin's face when he learnt he accidentally asked Sara Nome on a date. I really like the parallels between the valkyries and the ancient bird humans. It's a very interesting mythology. |

| Great start for a prequel. Interesting setting and characters, established legend about Protoculture, etc. I was surprised to see CGI used, but it was pretty nice actually. Kawamori really used it well for transformations and the insides of VFs. There was even a couple of live-action shots. The village was pretty nice too, like an actually good cousin of Moon Moon from Gundam. |

| That CGI looks like something out of a PS2 game cutscene, although it does make sense as Macross Zero was released around that time. Still, that CGI work does not hold up. That aside, so on this island, boys create a spear and show it off to a girl they like, and if the girl likes their spear they become a couple. That's...pretty phallic. Lastly, Sara Nome. Wait...Nome? Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. |
| Watching this after Macross II and the difference between them is night and day in my opinion (with this being the better one). A good start, but I wonder if they will have an idol character like the others. |
