Wow, KajiKaji's character's getting contemporary and rides a bike!!

I hear Minorin's voice!! Long distance love that didn't work out and married another guy. Poor red hair guy. His sister worries about him even when he was in love. (Edit: is Sue no Matsuyama the girl that involving with long distance love that didn't work out? Nanri-san? Then that red hair girl is Minorin instead?)

Koyasu-san's character and red hair girl (red hair guy's sister from previous story)'s love. Wow, another womanizer character besides Suwabe-san's character?! Red hair girl is such a tsundere. It doesn't end well though.

How many fucking Fuijwaras are there? LOL....

I love Sei Shonogun already. Especially after reading about her on wiki. And oh man, I can't wait until they introduce Murasaki Shikibu into this...XD

This episode displayed deep side of the show again after a few easy ones.
"Write her a letter with torment and your true love to solace her distress."
Like father like son. However, it seems Shounagon (the daughter) was still immature at this moment.

Poor Munenobu... Life is brutal indeed.
I couldn't dislike Nagiko's father - calm and understanding man. Same with Nagiko - she's pretty likable and smart. A pity that she didn't seem to have luck in love, same as her brother...

Somehow with Yoshiko and Nagiko's issues being on opposite sides of the spectrum they still managed to make me wish all sides did things differently. That there wasn't this particular kind of inability to have the other person connect to their overwhelming desires. Which is made extra tragic for the focus on conveying their feelings in poems.

Really short the first story but still interesting, specially the father's words.

Aww Sanekata's a good guy, same as Ono no Komachi's lover (what's his name again). They didn't want to deprive their beloved the chance to grow and see the world. Men especially nobles who were that considerate must have been rare in the Heian period.

"May those who defy their fate be granted glory."

Probably the best one so far. To hold back the one you love or too let them go. Damn.

1st part
Well, he ignored her for two years? I guess that means not even writing a letter. He's right then, he IS partly to blame. Makes it a bit hard to feel sorry for him.

2nd part
I didn't know divorces were possible back then!
Nagiko must have felt very lonely. "I have a habit of letting my knowledge show" - it's sad but I think a lot of women still think like this today. :(
Sanekata was very noble and brave for letting her go, for making it possible for her to go. But it's still sad, they made a good couple. :(

Yeah why didn't the brother at least write a letter or two...it's no wonder she couldn't continue waiting. It is still sad though, as with a lot of these stories, when two were so in love but went their separate ways. I felt really sad with Nagiko and Sanetaka's story, how he wanted her to see the ocean instead of being her shackle. It's sort of like the opposite of Komachi, who wanted to see how far she could go. Tbh, you'll never what will happen depending on the choice you make. Sure Sei Shonagon is now a widely known name after all these years and wrote the Pillow Book, which is informative of that time period and its culture, but I can't help and wonder if she was really happy, or if she would've been happier with Sanetaka. Last episode it was happy endings, but this episode was the opposite ;_;

Well, that didn't end well quite sad.
Sanekata can see the potential she has and wants her to go out into the world to learn and experience more things rather than being stuck with him when she can try and achieve something more things.
And now she's serving Teish the current empress, Michitaka daughter, and got a new for herself as Sei Shonagon.

It was a very bitter farewell, at least I felt so.

"A life without trust would be the same as death" is very wise. Sei Shonagon, my favorite lady here so far~
