| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The girl's excited on the journey. Seems like it's continuous story from last ep. lol @ nico douga comment in one scene. The blond hair guy is still into the girl and writing letter to her. They think that the reply is not like her. She's confused? They came to see her, who told them she was joking about the letter. She burst in laughter when she saw their conversation. They are drinking while watching the moon again. They talk about the change especially about the love, and the guy from ep.1 talks about his love. The blond hair guy said her poetry is good because she made that from her worrying many things. They said let's worry and make good poetry. They are going to the countryside. Scene back to the monk, after talking about the story, and Yonaga-san's character, who took notes on the story. Wow, another poetry from the monk when talked to blond hair guy. lol @ the end when KajiKaji's character with the tower. Uta Hen + (Side story) next ep. |

| I'm kind of getting a little bored of this arc. I was hoping to be introduced to new poets every episode. So the woman has regrets and feelings of remorse. She deserves them, but I can't help but feeling a tad bit bad for her. |
| This was a nice, meaningful episode. All of the poets' lives were rather sad, so i'm glad they had each other for comfort. poppei said: This year, Narihira-bashi Station (Isesaki Line, Tobu Railway) was renamed Tokyo Skytree Station. There used to be a shrine dedicated to Ariwara no Narihira near the station. I believe this is why Fujiwara no Teika cosplays as Tokyo Skytree. Ah, that makes sense. Thank you, i was wondering why they were dressed like that. I knew about the Skytree, but didn't get why that had anything to do with Poetry. |

| This episode really was meaningfull and also I find it awesome that the story is concentrating not only on the love stories, but also on some questions, that the life gives. I think the story of this series is taking the right direction - by combinating love stories with some plot developement. |

| I still like the particular friendship that has managed to develop between Narihira and Yasuhide. Further understanding between them in their concerns of loneliness. And it was nice to see Yasuhide point out that essential bit about life not being all sunshine. That perhaps some of that darkness can help a person grow as well. |

| I enjoyed this episode pretty much. Life is not only love, but also getting old, feeling loneliness, having regrets etc. It was nice too see what happened to Narihira after Takaiko's brother found them - Narihira didn't seem to be worried at all about losing hair :P That's great that each episode has something in common with the previous ones. |

But these expectations are not letting you savor the episode and see the obvious. We haven't seen new characters, but we hadn't been presented to the poems of those poets. And the main objective of the series is to talk about the stories behind the poems of the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu. This episode showed us efficiently two new poems: the Ono no Komachi's ninth and the monk Kisen's eighth. A short arc of only three good episodes, without any loss of quality. |

| These stories are not just meant to showcase several love relationships, they also show the aftermatch and explore the character's state of mind in depth which is much more interesting from my point of view. This time it's about regrets, getting old and their choices in life. |

| I really enjoyed this arc and will be sad to see it go. What a nice thing, a long love between three friends. Something about it was just so refreshing, too, despite the sad subject matter. They sure don't look any different in old age from their youth, though! |

| Honestly, at the beginning of each episode, I'm not that into it or expecting anything great. But I always come out of each episode very immersed starting 1/3 or 1/2 way in. I like the friendship between the three, and especially when they talked about their legacies of leaving behind poems. It's true that Komachi's poem is relatable to everyone, since everyone at some point in their lives has had regrets, and feels like they've done nothing substantial during their life. It's good that it seems that Komachi didn't actually regret the path she chose (over love), but instead was more or less disappointed in that it didn't led her to her goal (as regret and disappointment are different). Yasuhide is a very interesting person as he says insightful things, such as when he said that if Komachi had lived a life being married, she wouldn't have composed such a poem like she just did. There are pros and cons to every path, basically :) Also, it's always sort of painful when they mention a character's passing... |
| I knew it was the same girl, lmao that Ono no Komachi or something, wanted to be big but in the end, if you don't sugarcoat it, she's basically marrying into money or status anyway, like Melania Trump, but more ambitious yet accomplished nothing. I did not like how you can basically sexually assault the concubine without any repercussion, I guess it's easy to fuck an Emperor's wife back in the day, right? Terrible stories, with good intention probably but still terrible story nonetheless. |

| Continuing from the last episode, I really love the friendship formed between the three of them. This episode seems to focus on regrets, and if Komachi has regrets with the life she's chosen but the path you take will have both advantages and disadvantages no matter which path you take. Even if she didn't have children to leave behind but she still managed to make a name for herself and became a poet and leave her poems behind for the future generations. Oh so Narihira just got his heart broken from leaving Takaiko, he did really love her. They keep mentioning how old they have become, then that means the time between this episode and the last episode must have past by for years, and looking at the time period they are in they must have been in their 30s, nice to know that they have been friends for a long time. |

| Aw... listening to Narihira's story is really sad :"( "I've spent my life searching for the one, but when I found her, she was beyond my reach and I was too old to overcome the obstacles between us." T~T I absolutely loved this episode, the flowers that bloom will eventually wither too, even the prettiest flowers. To me, it sounds like everything has its own time, to grow, to blossom, to shine, to wither and eventually return to the roots. Everything that happens in it is not to be regretted because it is part of the journey from beginning to end. Meaningful episode. |
