THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Showing young Kaito first in the rain, and young Freecell watching him from the window (calling him "Kaito-kun").

G-kun only waits for student council pres.'s analysis.

Kaito looking at the pendant and still not know about the promise, and 2nd game begins. About "everything will be forgiving just winning"? So the enemy reads Kaito's mind/ knows everything about Kaito and predicts according to Kaito's personality, and he blocks him for winning. But he stops suddenly and lets the enemy go through using his strategy.

He suddenly talks about the time young Luke was taken away. It was also the time Kaito forgot another promise, with Freecell, who waited for him. With his sadness, he also lost his mother. And that opponent cared about Freecell and watched from behind Freecell, who watched Kaito crying under the rain for Luke's taken away, over the window that time. Kaito lost his sense after hearing the truth, and lost.

Freecell, though, is mad at him for talking all those things. He said Kaito would eventually remember about him by himself.

Next ep. with more memory and Anna vs. Hikasa-san's character. With childhood girl taking Kaito away.

Mottox2 introduces about why he made mistake (with correct answer) and Athletic Puzzle, a puzzle to solve among parents and kids. Solving the way to cut necklace to separate in one min.

I'm pretty sure that this episode is supposed to show how messed up Freecell (and through extension Pinochle) is that he's blaming this kid who only talked to him once for his mum's death. Well done Sunrise, your antagonists are fucked up as shit as usual :|b

Must've wet his undie in his laboratory all day. lol

and yeah because Kaito didn't played with him made him sad and that magically made his mom
die. lol And Kaito is feeling responsible. They both are stupid.

Lol yes i was rofling at that part too, but i think there is more to it but just not said yet. So Pinochle is gay for Freecell lol didnt quite expect that since i thought he was a womanizer. Lastly Meloncholy is always cute when she hides behind things whenever she sense something dangerous from Freecell

That backstory is pretty ridiculous. His mother died because Kaito didn't play with Freecell that day makes no sense at all. Also, I dont like how they spoiled the promise so early when this season is prolly going to be 25 eps or so.

I really hope they don't lose this puzzle game because of Kaito.

I think his mother died because in her pendant there was a medicine or something, but since it was a puzzle Freecell couldn't solve it alone... and so he asked Kaito, who was a genius, to solve it. But he didn't show up and well, we know the rest of the story

I thought it was more not that she was sad that Kaito skipped out, just that she was dying and because of her son being sad, that she was sad when she died.

There's not enough information to fully digest what happened in the past. There's definitely something else other than this "promise", which we don't even understand yet exactly. (And it's only the 7th episode so there's a lot about Kaito's past that we still don't know about like his days before being "adopted" by scientists.)

Kaito promised to meet Freecell on Sunday, which translates to Freecell wanting Kaito to do something for him on that day. It's possible that pendant has some kind of medicine hidden inside, which lead to Freecell's mother's death. I can understand that.

It seems insane that Freecell would hold this grudge against Kaito for so long, but that's normally how some villains would be brought about. Revenge. Just a small uncontrollable incident could offset someone's mind into instability. If that's how first season Rook went about, then, I'm not surprised here with Freecell. His mother seems to be a pretty important figure to the academy, though?

I liked that brief scene of Cubic being familiar with the shampoo incident, and then, Gammon asks him "How do you know that?" :D :D Haha...

Pinochle did some slight major damage control on Kaito, as a perfect trump card. With Kaito's mind no longer in the present, I'm now curious as to what Kaito's thinking of in that pre-school looking room.

Seems like a half-Ana and Kaito-Freecell backstory in the next episode. Well, it might shed some light on us as to why he dresses and acts like a girl? (It may involve death, too. I wouldn't be surprised if Ana had a twin sister..........)

This was a shitty episode to be honest (excuse my language), mother dies cuz of Kaito? That's just Freecell's problem...da faq are the rest there for? Their emotions got splattered all over b/c Kaito was too good?

How can you have a revenge on someone who doesn't even remember you or what happened...what point is there...when having revenge is knowing your enemy remembers what he did to you...

If they explain about how the pendant had a cure or something then that's reasonable and I can retire what I said above...so I will just have to wait and see

I had a feeling rushing a second season weeks after the first one ended was a bad idea...damaging the story and all.

Those are some of the classic motivations that villains bare. Even if they're not exactly "bad guys", these people with ridiculous emotional problems can't see reason. They can't understand that life just happens the way it happens. (Heck, even Kaito's team mates all thought Freecell was mad.) It's like the madness of a serial killer, who seeks revenge on specific people, who did something that affected his normal way of living. Logic doesn't exist here. These poor victims didn't literally cause the incident, but they were involved enough to still be remembered in some way.

And what bugs these emotional problematic people the most is when the attention is not focused on them. They'll make sure, one way or another, to find you and make you remember them if you do forget them. To them, they take things at a very personal level. To the rest of us, we'll go "forgive and forget, geeze!!" To some other people, forgive and forgetting isn't an option at all.

Kind of a shame that we do have real life cases like this in our world. Some people blame other people for the most stupid reasons. If someone was late for meeting up with a friend at a specific spot, causing this friend to get into a deadly car accident at that place, guess who might take part of the blame by the friend's family members if they're not so kind & understanding? The person, who was running late, will also hare a lot of regrets that come with this. >__<

Several years ago, I had an incident with the death of my cat. I was almost at the verge of blaming my dad for bringing her to the vet. If we didn't bring her to the vet, she would still be able to live a little longer, but she died there in a place that was suppose to help her. A lot of "what if" thoughts zoom through my head but thinking about all those possibilities will not bring her back.

My thoughts exactly /o/ She died cause he didn't play with her child? JESUS! And above all, Kaito accepts it like it's the most normal thing on the planet?
I was waiting for a more believable truth but damn that never came. Is this rly it? He's mad cause his mother died of sadness cause Kaito didn't come? What the heck? THOUGH I could accept the fact that maybe it was like Kaito's real mother and was sick and when he didn't come, she got sad but the sickness killed her! At least that'd explain it!
I started to like this sequel, I hope they won't fuck it up like this! WAKE UP KAITO! How gullible are you?!

Also, Kaito sucks with promises lol And not only he sucks but forgets foreverrrr xD Good going! And Freecell, let's just avenge your mother's random death cause A KID DIDN'T COME TO PLAY WITH YOU. YES THAT'S NORMAL!
And now I rly believe Freecell's mother was Kaito's real mother or aunt or whatever! I can't comprehend it else xD

Last, how gay is Pinochle? And why everyone has names like these? Rook? Pinochle? Freecell? Anyone thought abt giving their children a normal name instead of a game and games' pieces?

Freecell is more twisted than Rook...
Though it is also Kaito's fault for not making the promise.

Not that ridiculous to me, try to look at it this way:

Freecell barely had any friend, was lonely and his mother was in sick condition. His mother proprably constantly worried about him, especially since she knew she hadn't long to live and that she'll leave her only son alone. Freecell, in an attempt to erase her worries, made a promise with Kaito to solve a puzzle together. By having fun at home and showing her he has a friend, he could let her die with that much less worries.
Kaito didn't show up. Not only did this must have felt very bitter for his mother to see her son sad because of a broken promise, he left her with much more worries in the end and feel like Kaito is the reason his mother couldn't die with a smile... which would be the logical conclusion.

More than the plot becoming ridiculous, the story just badly conveyed this bitter feeling. It's not just Kaito's fault but Freecell's reason for doing what he is doing is more than plausible.
A bridge can break if it miss a single screw... a small event that doesn't mean much for someone can be the start of everything breaking down for another person.

An Indiana Jones-type puzzle can kill alright. Nothing ridiculous there.

I also thought it might be the case. Death caused by those puzzles of sadness (you know what I mean) sounds a little bit too ridiculous. But who knows, this anime has never been intelligent and directors may have decided to completely abandon logic.

Well, at least that should render Pinochle useless for the rest of the show.
Typical "won through mindgames, that the main character won't fall for twice"-situation. Without a rival on Team "formerly Phi Brain", he'll be a free win from now on, I guess.

Can't wait for Ana getting serious next (?) week. He didn't seem to happy about what happened to Kaito.

they act like Kaito is a terrible person for this crap ahaha. this plot has gotten so bad. I swear Gammon and the rest should just walk out over how absurd this whole ideal is.

"You made mommy die sad."

I laughed so hard at that. The whole situation is retarded as is this anime. As laughable as I find it, I can sort of buy that Freecell really believes Kaito is responsible for his mother's death but the fact that Kaito accepts it just because Freecell says it is completely ridiculous. It's not like Kaito knows Freecell all that well or has any reason to believe his enemy. Sure the enemy knows a lot about him but it's obvious that they are twisting and manipulating information. Honestly though I don't expect anything more from this disappointing clusterfuck of an anime any more. Just boneheaded and uninspired writing.

The puzzles are poorly done and are not entertaining to watch because the anime seems to discourage audience participation with the way the puzzles are shown. There is no way to try and put yourself in the protagonists shoes and solve the puzzle along with him because we're never really shown enough to do so. It's done this way because he puzzles are generally very simplistic and if we could see that it would take away from the fake genius of these characters.

I know this is just a shounen anime but I was expecting something silly yet entertaining with this show. I didn't think it would be super though provoking but I though maybe there would be some clever puzzles that it would be interesting to see the solutions to. Instead I get a barely watchable mess of an anime. It's sad really. The generic writing, the shitty characters and the unimaginative puzzle design are all very disappointing.

Though I really loved the shampoo and how did Cubic knew that part. Gammon's reaction lol.

And wow, Kaito lost against Pinochle. AGAIN.

Kaito didn't keep his promise because he was sad; that made Freecell sad, so Freecell's mother got sad and died. Sadly.

Holy mother of unintentional comedy, that was just ridiculous.

I don't think they meant it as in Freecell's mother died BECAUSE she was said. I think she was dying already, but ended up being sad while dying because Freecell was all depressed due to Kaito not showing up. It is ridiculous either way, but I just don't think they were trying to make it sound like she died from sadness. Pinochle just distorted and exaggerated it to mess with Kaito's mind.

Also, holy shit. Sugita-sama just reached a new level of epic in my book. *fans herself* THAT VOICE, THAT ACTING.

Freecell. You should better be having an explanation to this, or else.

And what seriously, Freecell! You were hoping that Kaito will remember you just like that?

Mommy died because she was sad... No mommy died probably because she was sick, anyways from what i read what other people speculated so far, the pendant is probably a puzzle and contained medicine and Kaito is the only one smart enough to have opened it in time.. Maybe if Freecel had asked for help instead of a fucking play-date then maybe Kaito would've actually helped.
