For my love of snowflakes, I took on the name Chione as she is, in Greek mythology, the goddess of snow. Dyrken was just conjured up from my imagination, and Ice is to just add flavor to make the name whole. And thus my virtual name, Chione Ice Dyrken.

I live in two worlds; reality and fantasy, though I’d rather just stay put in the world of imagination. Revolving around stories is what I like to do, be it in the form of books, anime, manga, games, etc. Usually I prefer those that are of the genre adventure, action, swordplay, mystery, fantasy, psychological warfare and super powers. My favourite tales thus far are The Pendragon Adventure (book), Gintama (anime), Code Geass (anime), Natsume Yuujinchou (anime) and Fullmetal Alchemist (manga). Pendragon was the first story that tore me away from the high school romance fantasies, and brought me into the world of adventure and action. FMA was the first series that opened my world to Japanese animation and comics. Yes, can’t argue that there were other series that I saw before FMA, but it was that story that made me want to watch more and more anime. And whether other people want to argue back or not, I consider myself an otaku. Weaboo? Hrmmm… Half maybe? Haha.. what’s wrong with enjoying something you love with all your heart eh?

I’ve got several hobbies. I love to draw. Practicing to draw on the digital platform, but I prefer the pencil and paper when I dish out pictures. I believe that till I can draw as well as the standards in anime and manga, I am not good enough yet. I normally draw scenes of stories that I conjure in my head, so if I ever do release my stories in the future, these would be major spoilers. Haha! Listening to music is also another personal favourite. It’s been years since I’ve dropped listening to English songs. I prefer Japanese rock and pop songs because I can always seem to virtualize different stories while I indulge in their beats. My favourite singer is TM Revolution and my favourite band is SPYAIR.

Well, all that’s above is a description of my fantasy world. My reality is duller so the following will be short. I’m in a family of seven. My father is a sports person, my mother a humanities person, a sister who’s my best friend, a brother who’s fun to be crazy with, another brother who is kind, and the last brother who is a random stubborn brat who pulls touching surprises sometimes. I got my second best friend when I turned fifteen, and I’m always calling her Alyy-baba. I’ve got my up’s and down’s in life over and over again, but well, who hasn’t? It’s painful to say, so I shan’t, but I hold tightly to my good memories. I’ve crushed on guys, dreamt of love, failed at studies, be best at Mathematics and then failing it soon after, got betrayed, forged friendships with old enemies, etc. It’s a hopeless lifestyle indeed.

I’m currently pursuing my career as a teacher so I’m student teacher at Nanyang Technological University’s National Institute of Education. No, it ain’t my dream to be a teacher, but I don’t know what else to do really. I want to write stories, but I don’t have the literature background to create good ones. I want to draw masterpieces, but I don’t have the professional background to let my creativity flow. And also because I realize my dreams too late. So now, I’m stuck to being a teacher, teaching a subject I have no interest in but can do.

Thus, like how it was back then when I made my previous “About me” section, I am still waiting for life to give me my sacred summoning. :)
