So it's the last episode of the first season! I thought Otogizoushi started out at a snail's pace, but things things got really intense in this episode! Mansairaku revealed himself to be Seimei! I expected that, because Mansairaku disappeared for quite a while (he was not in action for the previous 2-3 eps). The end of this episode was pretty sad, but kind of sweet in a solemn way.

It pains me to say but Mansairaku has a point there about the Capital you can easily compare to today society.

For once Seimei is the bad guy so far in the anime I've seen he's always been on the side of good.

Excellent, maybe a little cliche, but amazing nonetheless.

Very impressive finale to the arc, I really think MAL should break this up into 2 series.
I know it continues, but it is definitely 2 separate series.

I saw Seimei being Mansairaku from a mile a way, I knew like 5 episodes back.
And, I called the flute as well, but I was still like..."The flute, I knew it. Mansairaku's gonna stop because of her flute playing."
But, then she started walking into the barrier and I said..."What?!"
Then Mansairaku jumped in after her, and I was like..."OMFGEPIC!!!"

I've had this gem sitting on my shelf for a year plus, I picked both arcs up in BB a while ago when MB released the 2 season sets.
I watched the first ep when I got home, and thought it looked interesting.
But, never got around to watching it.

I'm a sucker for historical anime, and haven't seen any in a while. Good ones anyway.
So, I popped this in, and have loved every minute of it!

Now I'm a little weary of the second season, b/c the historical aspect is what makes the show. Dialogue, politics, etc.

So I'm hoping the greatness of the show doesn't get lost in converting to a modern-day setting.

But, from the synopsis, it's still Lady Hikaru, Tsuna, and the gang so I'm still looking forward to it.

Urahara Out!!

I really enjoyed the beginning but the ending felt rushed (hard to pack all that action into just 13 episodes) and honestly, cliche. So, now I'm on ep14 as in 6 mins & 48 seconds into it...

Should I continue watching it?

Cus, honestly the change into modern day setting pisses me off; MORE so because the relations are exactly the same!!! That's not how reincarnation supposedly works and why is it that Hikaru has a personality change when no one else does?!?!?
I don't know if I can continue watching if it's just going to irritate more...(-_-)
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
I might be crazy. So, what's the problem?

That was really cheesy and frustrating to watch.

Heian arc end. Then I heard the sound of a vehicle. I don't watch previews but please don't shift to a modern setting. Nooooo!

Otogizoushi is really driving the theme of yin and yang hard. Man and woman, good and evil, life and death, and the balance of these forces within and between Hikaru and Mansairaku, I'm quite impressed. I must admit though, the last few episodes have been hokey, and I've been concerned with the introduction of magic and Kintarou, both of which broke the historical, grounded, and serious tone of the show's first few episodes. Yet, it all still somewhat worked out, much to my surprise. Also, when Hikaru started playing her flute, even though I felt it to be cheesy at the time, it was also fitting for some reason. This show worries me in some ways, but manages to save itself though its execution I'd say.

Lastly...Were those cars I heard at the end?

Hikaru you weakling...yeah the destruction of the capital was your fault when you decided not to kill him.

And it's time-jumping to modern times, WHAT?!

So Luke Louise Skywalker joined the dark side?

Seriously, that was one of the weakest endings I've seen in anime. It completely broke Hikaru's character development too. Throughout the series she became more resolved and more considerate of her retainers' feelings, then at the moment suprême she fails miserably.

I don't know about the Tokyo arc. I'm not against the idea of watching it as a more or less separate show, but after the huge let down of the Heian arc, I might drop it after all.

My thoughts exactly,.. one arrow, one arrow at a few paces, on a stationary target,.. one arrow, or one push to not let down your friends and the entire population of the capital, and to put down the man that deceived and used you.

I'm so impressed with the presentation of this episode. What a beautiful tragedy.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

I've been let down more than once by shows that start off really good and feel original, only to suddenly end up with over the top stupid shoujo-like tropes that ruin the show.

This was a real letdown.

I see she was pathetic right to the very end. Letting the entire city burn because she couldn't harm her crush who she met like three times. Here I thought this MC was supposed to be "strong" instead the standard crying female lead of these period pieces.

What a frustrating episode. Extremely disappointed in Hikaru but not at all surprised. I guess now she can spend all eternity with her beloved murderer.

In the end she accomplished nothing but destroying the capital she set out to save.
