THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

I'm just wondering, how old is President Aria? He has been the mascot of Aria Company ever since grandma took him in. That was quite a while ago and now grandma as gotten quite old. So why doesn't President Aria age?

But anyway, Akari did a good job :P

Yes, she did. ^_^

And I don't know why President Aria doesn't age, just another mystery about Neo Venezia. ^^;

Cats who can vocalize as well as human 2-year-olds and who can apparently open doors with doorknobs clearly have great abilities.

President Aria is not a cat as we know cats. He is some kind of future Space Cat From Mars, with greater intelligence, longevity, and stomach capacity than our cats.

He can eat mashed corn with no ill effects. Whereas a normal cat might eat corn by accident if it were mashed into tunafish, and then feel sick when it didn't get digested.

Clearly Aria - Shachou only ages by getting slightly pudgier around the belly. He looked young in the photograph because he didn't have a flabby belly.

Clearly President Aria is not a normal cat, but probably that mystery will be resolved later. I also think President Maa should've grown at least a bit. I mean, some seasons have passed since he first appeared. Another mystery for Aqua cats.

Nice episode, as always ^^

I felt a bit sad when Alicia talked about retirement... just as when a friend I made last summer said she hope I won't forget her... but still, coming back to the lovely moments with a things... I love the idea *went off to put some photos above her desk*

Kinda depressing how Alicia basically told Akari that when she dies, the palina will be the thing she will be remembered for. And wtf? How does Prez Aria look any younger in the photo than he does now!?

T'was an okay episode. I didn't get why were Akari and Alicia smiling in the end though. I interpreted it as if they see that Palina Akari made again in the distant future, they will be able to reminisce moments from the past.

Few things that stood out for me were:
1. The old album and sudden visit of Grandma. In the old photo, Grandma and Aria were there. That was like ages ago. Now I'm wondering how old Aria is.
2. Akari and how dedicated she is in doing that Palina. She did a good job. I loved how the Palina turned out. The logo symbolized their uniforms too.
3. Alicia and her speech about Akari becoming a Prima and being able to teach some junior too. Oooh I can't want for that. I don't think it's going to happen though.

I haven't seen Akira for a while now. What has happened to her? Her seiyuu got sick or something? Anyways, it was a good episode. Very calm and touching indeed.

I think they were smiling in the end because they took the future thing with the palina so seriously that the moment felt rather comical. Although Akari does have a point, lol.

I enjoyed this episode. It was cool learning gondola basics and diving into the history of Aria Co.
It also raises more questions about Prez Aria and whatnot as this thread is mostly concerned about.

But I remember a past ep mentioned that these cats are a link to the future and the past.
Therefore, Aria and the cat world's influence on Aqua is immense. Can't wait to learn more about the connection.

I was scratching my head throughout the episode, trying to figure out what design Akari would come up with.
I must say it's quite ingenious. Now I'm beginning to wonder what the symbol on their uniform signifies.

If memory serves me right, one of the reasons Grandma gives that they don't have a Painted palina was because they didn't know what color they should've made it. One would've thought blue and white would be givens. After all, that IS the company primary colors. Just a random thought. LOL

LOL, she spends the whole day trying to find the perfect color, but the one she picked, wasn't that just the same color that was already on their uniforms? Not just her waiting for a day, but both her senior and grandma couldn't figure it out either? And here I was waiting the whole episode for the greatest color known to mankind!

I know that saying the manga in here is not allowed but I cant help it. Its just that the anime made a poor adaptation that in the manga, Aria company already has a palina, its just that it was already too rotten that Akari had to replace it already.

By the way, according to TV Tropes, Marsian cats are not cats at all. They are the original citizens of Mars who chose to co-exist with their human invaders. Probably because they are in favor of how humanity beautified their once dried planet. Aria-sachou is probably as old as Caith Sith or only younger by a few thousand years

I was also wondering how old could Aria-shachou be...And it seems like the company had a klutz even before Akari arrived, that's nice to know, though I find it a pity that we don't get to meet her. Aika-chan missed a great opportunity of No sappy lines allowed, she needs more screen time! 4/5.

Akari wasn't searching for the right color but the right design. She was trying to figure out what the colors meant to her as a suggestion for a design.

It was the earlier undine who didn't know what color they would use, but that seems weird, because she was drawing it in blue. I'd think they'd use black if they didn't know what color the design would be using. Or just outlines.

Anyway, a cute episode... though I think they put the pilina too far from the stairs. Won't that make it hard for folks to get out of the gondola? And why only one instead of two, like most other places have?
Your mean should be an even bell curve only if you watch every show that comes out. Having a high-slung mean doesn't mean you're rating improperly. It can also mean you're selecting shows well to watch mostly things you enjoy.

Holy crap Aria-sachou was so adorable in this episode <3! And how old is he anyway?!

I wonder if Aria Company had a lot of Undines in the past. Alicia must be earning a lot since she has single-handedly kept their business afloat.

Wow Akari did a fabolous job with that Palina. Loved the design, so modern yet hints the efforts of the past generations - A big thumbs up from me.

Loved this episode, and the message it gave. The moment you see Alicia and Akari's surprised faces near the end. Man, I am in bliss.

D'aww... Such far into the future and well, Alicia became an undine at a record young age If I remember, so she's been working quite a few years already, mhnn, maybe she's just very very mature for her age... She does kind of speak like an older woman now that I think about it...

This episode was a bit too cheesy for my taste. Usually the insights in Aria are overwhelmingly positive but always feel like a breeze of fresh air, this one was a bit overused (objects are memorabilia).

The bright contrast of the bluey ocean sky and white house and gulls was absolutely beautiful; as well as being effectively used as a storytelling tool.

Although it's extremely unlikely, president aria's take on the senior who is always falling seems similar to Athena.

I liked the arts and crafts activities of the episode (it was almost literally like watching paint dry, yet somehow fun). Grandma and the nighttime boat ride were cool, and I even liked the celebratory picnic at the end, although their conversation went in a strange direction.

Yeah, that was probably not the message intended but I also got negative implications from what Alicia said there. It's also a little dissonant with the central theme of Aria which is enjoying life moment by moment instead of looking too far into the future. I guess that's not necessarily bad, but I think they could have handled thinking about the future in a less in-your-face way.

This episode felt really out of place. Maybe it was a new director for this episode. Alicia's personality was so different along with her lines being way more energetic which I didn't like. She is usually very calming and gives a good contrast to Akari. There were a few different shot compositions which were in this episode that kind of missed the mark in my eyes.

This episode was really poorly done in my opinion. Even though we got some cool info about the company, this didn't really feel like Aria, it had a different tone throughout which felt way too energetic for me. I watch this show to relax and it really missed the mark today.

Ai's childish, simple yet purely optimistic comments in her emails back to Akari are always a notable high point to me, but I think the one in this episode is among my favorites.

This episode was the only boring episode of Aria The Natural for me until the last four minutes. However, the conversation between Alicia and Akari on the gondola made the boring parts worth to watching. That shocking faces of Alicia and Akari were hilarious.

I think that anime made this plot even prettier and nicer.
Same story with "WataMote" (plot with Tomoko and Otaku in the art room).
I have nothing against it. Sometimes it looks that anime surpassed manga at some point.
