Aw, that was a cute ending. Overall I must admit I really enjoyed this series very much. There were times when I really was wondering what exactly was going on, but I like how they ended it. Even though Nayuki didn't get her dream with Yuuichi, it looks like she's going to be ok. And Ayu's back! It's nice to see a happy ending. ^__^

Wow. Even though I saw the 2006 series first, this version is still great.

Tis series was pretty good. I leked the ending although I sometimes wish he ended up with Nayuki. No I must see how the 2006 remake compares.

Great episode and fantastic ending didn't expected to see Ayu back and in that kind of condition, though a bit sad for the feelings from Nayuki, but it seems she can still spend the time with him and let other miracles happen!

Up to Kanon Kazahana and than the 2006 version!

Key really loves these endings. I was hoping it wouldn't end like this, but it did. Well, at least it's NOT LIKE THEY REVIVED A DEAD CHARACTER. So I'm kinda okay with it. Too bad it didn't have the incest ending. I liked Nayuki more. Ayu was just..Ugu ugu ugu ugu.

Ahh really wish I watched this version first! It was decent but I kept having this otherworldly urge to constantly compare it to the 2006 version. Overall a 6/10 from me although I want to rate it higher just because it was Kanon :x.

not as good as the 2006 version but that was to be expected since it's only half the number of episodes. However this version also got some good points

Yuuichi had a much better VA in this version; really didn't like his VA in the 2006 version

still overall 8/10

Loved it. Sure, the animation and pacing can't compare to the 2006 remake, but the storytelling and character development were still wonderful.

I strongly agree with your opinion, though this is my first Kanon.
Now that I have watched the 2002 version, I really don't under why many seem to condemn Toei's Kanon and many don't even bother picking this up because of the artwork. I personally believe that plot and character development takes priority over anything else in a piece of mediated work (be it live-action or animation), and people should not judge a book just by its cover. I shall still believe that the 2006 version will be superior to this in many aspects; I cannot tolerate those who just say this is nothing but sht. While the characters (especially Shiori and Makoto) are underdeveloped and thus responses throughout this series were plagued with awkwardness and were even occasionally contrived, the emotional outcome of this 2002 Toei version was still effective and also ended up to be an overall touching story. Although I was hoping for a Nayuki end, I'm glad they ended off with a kiss from her. One word to describe Kanon? "Miracles".

althought i am confused about this anime many times and doubt i fully understand it i still enjoyed it alot.

with confused i do not really mean story wise or anything but some lines some characters had it makes me feel there is alot more to this show then i actually understood.

i decided to watch the 2006 version but i wait a while since i think its best to forget a thing or 2 about this show first to enjoy it better unlike what i did with full metal alchemist origenal and brotherhood which i watched right after each other which took away some moments from brotherhood since i seen the origenal just before it.

i give it a 8/10

It was a nice anime but I feel like a lot of things are left without answers... And I am quite confused by the ending?

I cannot bring myself to rate it better than a 7/10 because of the terrible artwork. ^^'' Would have been a 9/10 without the artwork in my opinion...

I'll surely have to watch the remake! ^^

Completed this after the 2006 version and I do have to say it was lacking something.
I was kinda surprised it took so much longer to get the ending of Makoto's arc compared to 2006.
I also didn't really like the character design, the biggest difference was Yuuichi ofcourse with his massive chin.
Then again 2006 also had Yuuichi look fairly different compared to the girls just like this version.

The pace also felt off, that feeling was mostly thanks to me seeing 2006 first probably.
Still it had it's merits, some scenes felt stronger because of some excellent timing and music used.

7/10 at best

I really liked this show, even tho the art wasn't 100% aesthetic and some parts were rushed, it still had it's charm.

Can't wait to watch the 2006 version.

Oh, there's the "Last Regrets" vocal version. Of course, it was drowned out by Nayuki's monologue, so what can you do.

The 2002 version of Kanon wasn't horrific, or at least not as bad as I've heard. The character design is definitely questionable, but it seems to be a leftover from the visual novel designs, albeit exaggerated depending on the camera angle. The story is crazy rushed, and had I not watched the 2006 version prior, I probably would have been quite lost. As is, this version is relatively harmless all things considered.

A cute show overall, with some unexpected turns. Now all that's left is to watch the supposedly superior remake.

so the blonde dude was wearing a shirt that said "Clannad", even thought this episode aired in early 2002, and Clannad Visual Novel came out in 2004. Nice

finished the last episode today.

with that hand knitted muffler (noticed that Nayuki reacted negatively to it, although it's subtle), I somehow wanted a Shiori ending, but sadly it is not to be..

Nayuki brave with stealing that kiss, and I'm surprised how she used the clock to say her feelings out..

Ayu back to life. :)

Now to watch the special.

I feel like this was supposed to be more impactful than it ended up being. I ended up not feeling any attachment to any of the characters, I don't even remember any of their names. I really want to believe that it's just this adaptation being rushed compared to the later one, but I felt no emotion at the end. I'll have to give the second adaptation a chance eventually.

I came in with low expectations, but holy shit, this turned out to be worse than I imagined. Character designs, script, plot, pacing were all terrible. Not to mention I had to endure 13 episodes of infantilized, bug-eyed, "uguu~~" female characters that made my blood boil.

3/10

Kitagawa's Clannad shirt. That's nice.
Interesting variation. At least Nayuki was able to kiss him.

I was hoping they would take a different ending here. I'm still not a fan of the Ayu route. Also, the dead should stay dead, IMO. Only lolicons would love this route. I still prefer Mai or the wincest route since the girls are hotter.

I voted 'disliked' for this episode, not because my girl Mai left, but because it felt out of place. It should've been a wincest episode, then Yuuichi leaving. Instead, we learn that Ayu is actually alive but was unconscious for the last 7 years. wtf?

Her episode last time was close to perfection only to be ruined an episode later. Then, suddenly Nayuki's sulking got resolved. huh?

They not only did not make a good episode for Nayuki, but ruined the relatively good closure to Ayu's arc.

I would have rated this anime as 7 and consider it a hidden gem, but this episode ruined it. I'll just rate it a 6.

OK HEARING THE 06 THEME WAS SOOOOOO COOL, I had no idea it originated from the 02 version, so I guess Kyoto Animation had to buy it from Toei. I honestly thought I'd hate this version, but despite the arcs not being as fleshed out in the 06 version, I still enjoyed this adaptation, even if the 06 version will forever be superior
